I love this place. The queso is always great, the staff is friendly and fast. The ambience is not too low and romantic nor loud and obnoxious. It fits perfectly. The drinks are reasonably priced and the food is always great at either location we go too. If there is one issue, the one closest to my house has awful parking and is crowded on weird days like Thursday at 4 or Monday at 5:35. But that is pretty small compared to the fact I have never had a bad experience here. read more

We often eat at Jardin Corona. It's not our absolute favorite but the food is good for sure! It is not authentic Mexican food, it has more of a Tex-Mexy style to it. Kind of like a Chuy's but a little more Mexican. Our favorite is probably the Pechuga Ballena. It is a chicken breast stuffed with cheese, bacon, mushroom and shrimp topped with Chile con Queso. We ordered for pickup and felt like they gave us enough Chile con Queso to top the entree. Rice is good, beans are okay. This go around we got the Steak a la Jardin Corona for the first time. It was good, but the stuffed chicken is 100% better. I wouldn't order again because for steak I prefer their Steak Tampiqueño or the Steak a la Mexicana. Those are quite yummy! Tuesday is my son's day off. For him, TexMex is a food group all on its own so every Tuesday we try a new restaurant. This was our first time visiting this restaurant and did so based on the recommendation of a friend. We ordered the cheese enchilada lunch plate and one beef fajita taco. The woman who served us didn't seem like she wanted to be there. She had a scowl on her face the entire time we were there. The taco was very good and I felt like we definitely got what we paid for. Sadly, the chili sauce that came on the enchiladas tasted like soap. Maybe whoever washes dishes simply didn't rinse the plate it was served on? Maybe the pot they cook the sauce in wasn't rinsed well? We probably won't go back to any location unless we happened to be in the area anyway. read more

I've been to a couple of their other locations and have been told this location is the best. The chips were warm and the salsa had a kick. We had a wonderful server who kept our glasses and chip basket full. I ordered the Monday lunch special which was two enchiladas with rice and beans. The only issue was the choice of cheese selection. Mexican restaurants should never offer American cheese or Mozarella cheese as their choices. I asked if they had Monterey Jack and our server said only American or Mozarella. Neither belong in a Mexican entree. I saw on the menu that Jack cheese came with some entrees so I was a bit confused. The tomatillo sauce though was yummy. For the cheese choice, I am giving this restaurant 3 stars. It may be harsh but I grew up on homemade Mexican food and I am unfortunately spoiled. read more

We were a party of 6 for a dear friends birthday and the service and food were fantastic. Our server was Chris, and he was remarkable. When we sat down, he came to our table and asked for our drink order. The chaos of trying to wrangle 6 people who haven't seen each other in a while can be frustrating, but Chris was very patient and kind. He didn't write anything down even when people were asking questions over each other and changing their minds. Chris got it all correct. He repeated this with the food. Disappointing. The queso is pretty much melted down Monterey Jack with bacon and poblano pepper. It is extremely dense and had to be pried out with forks. As for the lunch combo, the beef was entirely unseasoned. No cumin, no red pepper, no paprika, not even salt or black pepper. The enchilada wasn't bad but also not great. Nachos were like what you'd find at the ballpark. Service was brusque but efficient. The restaurant was clean and the kitchen was fast, thus earning the second star. read more

Rating would be a 3.75 Chips are thin. Salsa okay. Flour tortillas are not made in house. Ordered generic beef enchiladas with chili sauce, rice and refried beans. Priced at around $10. Service okay. I gave them 3 stars for price. But they do not rise to the 5 star excellent rating granted to: 1. Serranos 2. Texican 3. Chuys 4. Rosas- fast food. All of the latter make their flour tortillas in house and excellent salsas and in house specialties that make them 5 star winners. Update. This review is solely about the Bell Blvd location in Cedar Park. Although it's run by the same folks who operate the Jardin Corona in Austin, the recipes aren't the same. The barbacoa has an odd seasoning flavor... I'm not saying the food had gone off, but some uncommon spice was used to flavor the meat and it wasn't pleasant, didn't taste like any barbacoa I've ever had elsewhere. The breakfast potatoes had no seasoning at all and were just scoops of roughly smashed potatoes. My friend's chilaquile (sp?) migas were a soggy pile of overcooked chilaquile with an unseasoned pile of scrambled eggs on top. However, the service was very good, and a number of local construction guys came in to pick up bags of tacos, I suspect, so perhaps we just didn't order the right things. I'll try again in hopes of not having to go to Austin for a good Jardin Corona experience. read more

This review is solely based on comparison to other restaurants I have been to and enjoyed. The taste of the food wasn't bad. It was tasty. The rating is based off my expectations of the place. Machacado & Eggs: most places use fried up shredded beef for this dish. This place used cubes of beef. They were tender, but not like other places I have been to. They also slather it with ranchera sauce that was very watery. Very chunky bits of tomato, whereas other places blend it smooth. Potatoes were cut in huge chunks and didn't have much character to them. The places that cut them small and fry them, in my opinion, is tastier. Beans were mediocre. They weren't bad, but were only average. Chorimigas: this would have been much better if they didn't use slices of American cheese. I am more of a shredded cheese diner. This was also smothered with ranchera sauce. It could have used less or none at all. Didn't care much we weren't asked if we wanted flour or corn tortillas. They assumed we wanted flour. The salsa they provided was tasty. I thoroughly enjoyed that. Overall, I am not sure if I would be back. We decided to come here because they had an extensive Mexican breakfast menu. Most places I was looking at only sell breakfast tacos. We wanted something more authentic. Didn't quite hit the mark for us. I guess our go tos will continue to be Cafe Java and Tequila's Bar and Grill. Maybe other places will hit the mark a little closer to my expectations. read more

3.5 stars. I'll round to 4. The Food and prices are typical of most mexican places. In the evening, especially on weekends ( Friday and Saturday) this place is packed and parking is a pain. The staff while not overly friendly is fast and efficient. The margaritas are pretty good and if you come M-F they have a good assortment of lunch specials that include a drink. I think my favorite things are are the #9 lunch special, pollo tequila Tuesday lunch special, beef fajita nachos, and chicken tortilla soup. The nachos are Awesome because they make individual nachos. It's not a bunch of chips with goodies on top. I prefer the location off Jollyville more, but this is also good. If I could give this place 0 or negative star reviews I would. Came to have lunch with my husband and we're told to sit wherever by the host/waitress. So we did, immediately we were given menus and asked what we want to drink, without getting the chance to look it over. I ordered myself a water and an horchata the waitress quickly turned away before my husband got a chance to order his drink. Once she came back I asked her for his in which she left and came back with it but placed the drink rudely on the table. She then proceeded to ask if we were ready to order which we were, we ordered our food, and from a far she stared with an ugly look on her face at us, which honestly made us lose our appetite. Also any time we looked for her she was on her phone, gossiping with the other waitress who was on her phone as well or just staring with no intent of coming over. Food came the runner was the nicest out of everyone there, but our waitress never did. The food was subpar at most and Drenched in melted cheese which both of us had to peel back to be able to even eat it. Both of us didn't finish our food. Maybe 45 min passed after getting our food, she finally came and asked if everything was ok and if we needed to go boxes which we didn't. (Only good thing we had were the chips and salsa and the horchata.) I asked for the check which she already had in hand apparently with no intention of upselling dessert or any other items. Placed it on the table and left even though we put our card in. Then a different waitress came to take it. My wife and I visited this place last night hoping for some good food and drinks, however we left extremely disappointed! First, My wife ordered a martini, the cup it was served in smelled like a wet towel! I had to go up to the bartender to get a new cup. Second, when our food was brought out by some guy who was not our waiter he seemed to be in such a rush to give us our plates like it was a bother!!! Third, we ordered the parillada with shrimp and beef fajita, the shrimp was soooo bland we had to add salt to them, NO seasoning whatsoever! I've been coming here since I was a kid, and Jardin Corona never disappoints. This place has a classic Tex-Mex spot vibe and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I usually get the al carbon tacos and they're delicious. Great cut of meat, cooked till beautifully tender, and served with pico and guacamole on soft, buttery tortillas. Hubby did go get take out for me 2 weeks post op. He got me tortilla soup. It had large chunks of carrot, some potato and lots of mushrooms. It comes with rice, shredded cheese, tortilla strips a couple slices of fresh avacado .the broth was delicious, I was able to mash the carrots and eat them. Not quite ready to swallow potato or especially mushrooms which tend to be rubbery in nature-(not in a bad way but not good for a swollen esophagus.) Nix on the rice at this point but I did put a teaspoon of shredded cheese and Pico de Gallo and sprinkled a few tortilla strips. It was soooo good! I have put off writing this review for awhile. It was mid-summer during our heatwave. Between my neighbor raving about this place and the Yelp reviews, we decided to go one friday evening. So after driving home from work, I pick up my bf and head to Jardin Corona. Glad we took only one car. The parking lot was packed. Not only packed but cars were circling the lot to pull in as soon as one pulled out. We finally found a spot and rushed in to stand on line. It wasn't too long of a wait, maybe because we were the only party of two waiting when the small tables became vacanted. We were seated close to the kitchen (Not good). Besides the heat outside (in 100's), no air conditioning, cooking heat from the kitchen, and only slow ceiling fans - - It was hotter than hades. I was glad our waiter gave us extra napkins, we used them to wipe the sweat pouring off of us. My bf ordered a Margarita and I had an Iced tea. He thought the margarita was good. Tea wasn't bad but the ice melted so fast. We had the chicken fajitas to share. The size was plentiful, filled us up and some to take home. They were okay. Chicken wasn't dry, but could use more seasoning. Here is the downside. It is small place and the noise level was extremely loud. My bf and I tried to have a conversation but it stopped quickly after we realized most of our convo consisted of WHAT? CAN"T HEAR YOU? WHAT? As I meantioned earlier, it was hot. It was also nearly impossible to find our waiter to get more tea. I can't blame him entirely because I thought there were too few servers for the amount of people they cram in. In frustration and dying of thirst, I got up found a pitcher and served myself. Also with the kitchen next to us, our table was constantly being bumped by servers. If I had my camera on me, I could have taken pics of every butt that got in my face. Then I could publish a coffee table photo book titled Asses in my Face. We live about a mile from the Cedar Park location. I've not yet tried the others in the area (I just saw one in Liberty Hill on Sunday!), so I can only comment on the CP restaurant. I have to say, I have had a few Mexican/Tex-Mex meals at other places (here and in California) that exceed what I typically experience at JC. However, the food is consistently good, and (with no exceptions I can recall) the wait-staff is always friendly and warm. Our family typically has a lazy Saturday morning breakfast there a couple times a month (their Supreme Breakfast Taco is a real deal!), and we enjoy the atmosphere immensely. read more
