GOOD NEWS: Beautiful office; pleasant staff. BAD NEWS: I've gone to Dr. Lupton twice to treat the small pre-cancer "bumps" on my forehead. (I had previously been going to another Dermatologist for years without any problems and the results were always good). Nothing was changed after these 2 visits so I've gone to another Dermatologist who has taken care of the matter, as I've been used to. Prompt results! On the first visit Dr. Lupton said I should buy a cream to use on my forehead. It cost $139.00! Naturally it didn't do a thing to help. I asked for my money back and the girl said something like "sorry, that's from the manufacturer and we don't refund". That was BS to me. Needless to say I will never go back. read more

My first experience was good. My second not so much. I have generalized anxiety disorder and had my skin checked for a spot on my hand. I was treated in a dismissive way and I felt awful about feeling worried about something that was nothing. Instead of telling me it was nothing to worry about he froze it and sent me on my way. I had a second appointment about a spot on my arm and I as seen by the PA. He was worse. He literally cut it out of my arm and treated me like a child. It was humiliating and I had to deal with the healing process. Last year I went for a skin check at a different practice and they found two pre cancerous melanomistic moles and they were cut out of my back. read more

Shawn is an amazing esthetician with 30 plus years of experience. Shawn has cleared my severe acne scars and hyperpigmentation through dermaplaning. I've been going to Dr. Lupton for over 10 years and have had nothing but great results. He is super kind, calm and empathetic. I remember the first time I went to see him he was burning some bumps off my skin and when I would pull away or flinch he would say "sorry". It was sweet, because most dermatologists are immune to your pain. He's quick, smart, knowledgable and knows his stuff, the last time I came in, in my early 40s, he quickly summed up what I needed and it was nothing over the top. Recently, I thought I would see if Dr. Lupton had any solutions for the deep, painful splits near my fingernails that I frequently experienced. I always thought it was just my failing to use enough hand cream. It's not! Dr. Lupton informed me it's a type of psoriasis!! He gave me a prescription for a topical cream to be applied at night. I was referred to Dr. Lupton and took my 9 year old to have a wart removed from her thumb. He burned it the first time and my daughter cried, which was fine, but we had to go back for a second time to remove what was left. That entailed the same procedure. My daughter was anticipating the pain so she cried and he tried several times to burn it off but she would pull her hand away. That all is fine and normal. What is not normal or fine is the way he and his staff treated us. At one point, Dr. Lupton abruptly stopped and said, "I'm done." he then pulled off his gloves, threw them in the trash and stormed out of the office without saying anything else. I saw blood on my daughter's hand so I thought he meant he was successful. His nurse followed him out and left us in the room for almost 15 minutes with no explanation. Finally, his nurse came back in and suggested I pick up an over-the-counter wart cream because, "they sometimes work." and the Dr. was not coming back. Are you kidding me? It was humiliating. He was unprofessional, dismissive, arrogant and rude. I know he has children so I was shocked as a Dr. and a father he was so petulant. A couple months after the incident I did write him a letter explaining my experience and not he, nor his staff, bothered to respond. He's supposedly a good dermatologist; but apparently only for adults. I do not recommend him at all, there are too many good ones in the area, and certainly do not take your children to him, he has no bedside manner nor patience. I'm very disappointed with Dr. Lupton & with the Pixel laser procedure I had done. I wanted to treat wrinkles & made it quite clear to Dr. Lupton that I didn't want to chose a procedure that required multiple treatments for effective results. He assured me that the Pixel laser would substantially decrease my wrinkles & skin tone with only one treatment. Based on his recommendation, I proceeded with the Pixel laser treatment. He also told me that the skin would continue to repair itself & over time improve dramatically. There was light flaking & I initially saw no results or differences. I gave it time as Dr. Lupton suggested but the skin never improved, not even marginally. I paid $650 for one Pixel session & it was a complete waste of money! I could have received the same (or even better) results from a $10 at home very light chemical peel. I reached out to Dr. Lupton, explained everything & sent in pictures, but he refused to remedy the issue or take responsibility for his inaccurate claims. There are plenty of other professional, reputable dermatologists available who appreciate their patients & don't make false claims. read more

Dr. Lupton is the epitome of a superb and classic doctor. I first visited him when I was about 31. I had zits and my skin looked horrible, which he stated was normal for many women after having a child... Adult acne. He was empathetic, direct and to the point. He told me that I had two choices... spend a ton of money on various treatments and have minimal results or do a chemical peel and some laser treatments, be patient and then return for another treatment... I cannot tell you how much my skin has improved! I honestly walked in his office and when he asked me what I hoped to achieve, flat out said " I want to wake up in my boyfriends bed and not freak out and run to the bathroom and put on foundation!" I then asked him to give some Botox.... I begged for more, but he recommended I go home with the amount given and look in the mirror in a few days... I look 10 years younger, not like a freak of nature (which is what I would have pushed him to do if he was a money grubbing doctor) and I could not be happier. There are 2 types of Dermatologists: 1. Strictly cosmetic and 2. Medical diagnosis. Dr. Lupton is most definitely 'Medical Dermi'. My 13-year-old daughter started having acne... I know how difficult this was for me. I brought her in to see Dr. Lupton and he was funny, warm and my daughter loved him! He not only treated her skin, but also suggested that I eliminate certain foods from her meals that encouraged those nasty zits to pop up! Best skin doc I've been to. This dr is fantastic. I am having great results with my laser hair removal surgeries. Ethnic skin like mine and asians can really get messed up with the laser hair removals. That's because the laser goes after the pigment in the hair follicle but it could mistakenly go for the skin too!! But Lupton has a special laser machine that works the best with ethnic skin from the reviews I had seen online. But the front office people could be a little better at answering emails but otherwise it is a cinch getting them on the phone talking things out and making appointments. read more

I had several brown/sun spots on my face that he treated with the Alex Laser. Just short of a week later, my face looks amazing!! Hardly any visible spots left. Dr. Lupton is very nice, and listens. I went in for my very first session, ever, for IPL/Alexandrite laser for my sun spots. At first, I looked like I had the measles, but after a few days they turned brown, and then fell off after about a week. When I went in for the follow up, I told him that a few spots were missed, and he zapped the few, at no extra charge that day. I really appreciated that, and after another session in 6-12 months, my skin will look even better. This session also seemed to tighten my skin after a few weeks. read more

Came here using a Groupon for a medium depth chemical peel. I was in and out within fifteen minutes, and so far so good. The peel is applied by a visiting esthetician. She cleans your face, and then swabs on the caustic goop. You are sent home to peel and you wash off the peel four hours later. It wasn't quite what I was expecting, but I have also never done this type of thing before. The office is darling and I would definitely go back for some other services I have in mind. read more

The dermal filler didn't fill. When I asked why it didn't fill, he said he didn't know, then offered to inject more filler again at full retail price, not the usual 10% discount for products. I suggested that the reason the filler didn't work was because perhaps the product was expired. When I asked for the expiration date of the product, I was told that information could not be provided. Also, he sells his own brand of products that "contain ingredients known to cause cancer." It's concerning that an MD, sworn to the Hippocratic oath to "do no harm," sells products that are known to harm. read more

Being a native Arizonian I had some spots on my skin I was worried about so I found Dr. Lupton through my insurance list and saw he had some good reviews on yelp. the best part of my experience there was walking into the office and seeing how nicely decorated it was. The receptionist was not warm or welcoming to me at all. My wait time was 30 minutes and nobody acknowledged me or apologized to me while I sat there waiting. I was about to leave and finally the nurse came for me. I had the dr. check my entire body for suspicious spots and he spent about 5 minutes in the room with me. I felt like he could have cared less about my skin concerns and would rather be with a patient who was spending thousands of dollars on some sort of cosmetic treatment. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! They really only 'appreciate' your business if you are paying non-insured cosmetic procedures like Juvaderm, Botox, etc. I have been seeing various dermatologists regularly for years. I usually go in to have a cyst or stubborn blackhead zapped as well, nothing major. The wait time was excessive (nearly 45 minutes) in the cold, uncomfortable waiting area. Of course, they collected my office visit fee immediately. The nurse practitioner saw me. I stated that I had persistent acne, skin tag, and a cyst. Any other dermatologist would have removed them, no problem. This office wanted me to cough up a large amount of cash for the "cosmetic procedure". They wouldn't even zap my cyst and skin tag. I said, "No thanks. I've been to plenty of dermatologists and this is an aberration of service." The NP gives me a look indicating I don't meet the requirements of their clientele that can afford the really important procedures like Botox injections. I showed him another problem area and he tells my skin is like "barnacles". Hey thanks, Doc! I haven't been insulted by a doctor in lets see now, how about Never! So this would be a first that a medical professional, when they can't extort cash from a patient, insults said patient. I went someplace else. They zapped my tag and cyst. They gave me a chemical peel, covered by my insurance, for my acne. They also told me about my common medical skin condition that causes bumps. They made recommendations on the treatment. Not once did they suggest my skin was like "barnacles". To the contrary, they told me I have very nice skin. This office and staff are the worst. The takeaway is if you have a problem, leave and go somewhere else because any place is better than this. read more

My impression is that this office does not have the time for new patients, and their service is suffering because of it. Here is what I experienced: 1) Appointments take about 2 weeks to schedule. You will probably not be scheduled with Dr. Lupton, but rather one of his assistants. 2) Even the assistants don't have time for you. After 2 weeks, and probably an hour of waiting at the office, I got about 5 minutes. 3) I was prescribed a steroid gel to put on my eye. This is a bad thing as it turns out. 4) During my second visit, the same assistant saw me. He didn't remember me, clearly did not know why I was there, was upset that I was prescribed a steroid for my eye (until I reminded him that he was the one who prescribed the gel). 5) Upon the realization that Dr. Luptons office had me doing something which could be dangerous to my health (and eyesight!) I obviously had some questions. After two questions and one answer, the assistant left to go get something. He never came back, but rather sent someone else in to tell me that I was done. After this, I considered scheduling another appointment here to address my concerns, but I opted to not wait another two weeks and found a new doctor. The best part about going to Dr. Lupton's office is that I knew my next doctor couldn't be any worse. read more
