Stopped by today around 1:30pm and it was packed! My husband and I parked down the street in one of their side lots on the grass. There were so many people out and about picking apples, pumpkins and waiting in line to grab their cider donuts and other farm fresh produce. We were in line for about 40 minutes, and when we left the line was wrapping around outside! I asked the cashier what they did to advertise and they said that they haven't! It was just locals coming out and supporting their community! Their cider donuts are UNREAL- probably the best cider donut I have ever had. My husband raved about their coffee and the cider was equally delicious! The staff did a great job handling all of the foot traffic! had a wonderful time apple picking here twice this season. the staff are so friendly and hilarious actually. vibes 5/5. these cinderella looking pumpkins are gorgeous. so fun actually twisting it off the root and picking your own pumpkins. apple variety was great and lots of great photo opps too. the little market is great for extra things like their smoked beef jerky, apple pie pockets, and house made jams. great for gift giving too. we got a peck bag ($30) each time and definitely got more than 10 pounds of apples each time. they're generous with their apple bag pricing compared to others i have been to. trails easy to follow and labelled rows of apple types. i should try their other picking seasons too. read more

Jaswell's Farm is located at 50 Swan Rd in Smithfield, RI. This farm opened in 1899 and is 5th generation owned and operated. Jaswell's Farm is a market, bakery, cider mill, and pick-your-own. In November 2024, they are open Wednesday - Monday 9am - 4pm and closed on Tuesdays. Thanksgiving special hours are posted on their website. There are parking spaces right in front. Jaswell's Farm market carries preserves, jellies, salad dressings, prepackaged baking mixes, Vermont cheese, RI honey, local milk and eggs, seasonal fruits and vegetables, and assortment of fresh baked goods such as fresh fruits pies, pastries, fresh apple cider donuts and gourmet muffins. I ordered a small Hot Apple Cider, 1/2 dozen of M&M Cookies, 1/2 dozen of Apple Cider Donuts, and Vampire's Blood Yacht Club soda. Total was $20.23. The hot apple cider tasted like fall in a cup; it is made with Jaswell's own fresh apple cider heated with mulling spices. The M&M Cookies and Apple Cider Donuts were very soft and fresh. The cookies had mini M & M's and mini chocolate chips. The Apple Cider Donuts is made with Jaswell's apple cider and finished with a coating of cinnamon and sugar. Yacht Club soda is a local RI soda made with cane sugar and Vampire's Blood is one of their seasonal sodas. Jaswell's Farm also offer "pick your own" on a variety of products such as pumpkin picking, sunflower picking, and apple picking throughout the season. When I was there, a few people inquired about apple picking. Jaswell's Farm was a nice stop on a fall November day. After walking around the market, we walked to the pumpkin patch just to check it out. We came home with goodies and enjoyed them all. read more

Skip the other apple picking spots and come here. This is a very affordable option with plenty of apple varieties to pick from. The property is large so you will have to do some walking but once you get the perfect spot dependent on the variety of apples you might be looking for, your bag will be filled in no time. Easy to make a reservation online for the u pick option. Plenty of parking spots and some cider donuts and a small market inside for you to browse. I wanted to share one of my favorite fall activities! Jaswell Farms is always on my fall to do list, and I highly recommend it for Apple picking, and cider donuts. I save my calorie indulgence for this time of year) The farm is quite large with many trees, so you never feel too crowded while picking. They also have a great farm store with wonderful selections of items, including delicious jams and apple butter. YUM. We've been coming to Jaswell's for years for their ah-mazing apple cider donuts & fritters. Every now and then, we've picked out a pumpkin, but never picked our own directly from the patch (which you can do). There's also pick-your-own sunflowers - and of course, do the same for apples! The farm has a store that sells a variety of pre-made bakery items (some made in-house though the pies may be assembled offsite and finished in house), fresh vegetables - some but not all grown in RI (today I saw the largest locally grown Brussels sprouts I've ever seen), apple cider, bagged apples, pumpkins, etc. We had an unusual amount of rain this year, so the apple crop didn't look all that great. Jaswell's has a number of varietals for picking, which can make for more options for both eating out of hand and cooking/baking. I was a bit surprised at the number of dropped apples still in the orchard today, though. Several times I ended up twisting my ankle as I approached the branch I was picking from. I was also a bit disappointed that my apple fritters seemed a bit stale when I opened the package to eat one (which is NOT usual). Still, this place is a RI treasure! read more

I came to Jaswell's Farm on a Sunday afternoon in mid to late October with some friends, and had a great experience! This is a relatively smaller, apple farm, compared to some of the big names near Boston, but still a great time all around! All of their orchards are walkable, and with a lot of variety of apples to pick. However, going in late October, your selection of apples isn't the best. We got lucky though, and were able to find really amazing Gala apples, some of the sweetest and juiciest apples I've ever had! we were interested in looking for Honeycrisp apples as well, but they were mostly on the ground at that point in the season. Other than that, the other apples, available, or mostly baking apples, not snacking apples. I will have to dock a star for price though. A small bag of apples was $28, pretty pricey but fits around 15 to 20 apples, depending on size. You could also opt to get a larger bag for around $48 I believe, but it's a big commitment. One thing you must get when you come here is the apple crisp! They can make it fresh for you and put whipped cream and caramel drizzle on top, which was heavenly. A bit heavy on the brown sugar and the sweetness, but as to be expected, and a delicious treat after picking apples. We also got some apple cider donuts, and although they were pretty good, I don't know if I would say they were the best apple cider donuts I've ever had. The apple cider was also great, although also on the sweeter side, but a lot of my friends, really enjoyed it! Overall, I would recommend coming to this place for apple, picking because of the small Homey vibe and apples! The proximity to Providence is very nice. Not sure if there are other apple farms of this quality closer. It is a relatively small farm, but that can be a good thing! Also, seems like they have a lot of other activities going on, including sunflower, picking at one point in the season, and pumpkin picking. Parking wise, there's a grass lot before you get to the farm where a lot of people parked. It was full, but somehow we were still able to find parking and all of our friends were also able to park without any issues! read more

We visited Jaswells again, based on our first experience, I was looking forward to more amazing apples. Unfortunately, they were all sour and inedible. I tried baking them and they ended up a strange, spongy consistency, I ended up throwing them away. Disappointing that we have a half peck left of apples that look pretty on the table, but that's about it. read more

Very nice little farm stand. You really have to know where you are going to find it, as there are no signs in the neighborhood for it. My aunt used to take her children there 30 or 40 years ago and she said it had been a few years since she had been back. We got a pint of cider, a half-dozen apple cider donuts, and I bought a caramel apple as well. I just ate the caramel apple tonight and it was delicious; a little pricey, at $4.50, but tasty. I'm spoiled when it comes to donuts, as I live in Michigan and we have plenty of cider mills there, and I thought these were okay. Cider itself was very good, though. The farm is usually not open on Tuesdays but today they were open because of Rosh Hashanah, so we lucked out. Masks are required even though purchasing is outdoors, also. We had a nice conversation with the older lady running the stand, my aunt told her that she hadn't been back in a while. I would come back here again when in the area; it's probably the most authentic place for apple cider donuts in this area, too. read more

Wanting to try a new place for cider and cider donuts, we opted to give Jaswell's a try. The cider was fresh and cold, and the donuts were sweet and delicious! Everything was outside, so we felt very comfortable, even though there was a bit of a crowd. We went in the fall, and they had pumpkin picking going on in the pumpkin patch, not to mention apples galore for sale as well. If you are lucky, you can get a nice parking spot in their lot. A very popular orchard and farm. We came here on a weekday so it wasn't crowded like the weekends usually are. They had a good selection of fresh vegetables and baked goods. I bought their cranberry orange loaf, and my girlfriend bought kettle corn and apples. Had a blast at Jaswell's Farm! A classmate recommended it so I decided to bring out some family friends who were visiting from the West Coast. The staff recommend calling ahead the day of if you plan to go apple picking (just in case the picking season has concluded or there is inclement weather). There are about 10 rows of apple trees and we had lots of fun picking from the two varieties in season. Unlike Knight Farm in Scituate, there was plenty of fruit to pick at different heights! After we were done picking apples, we went inside, where I got a small pumpkin and half a dozen apple cider donuts, and hot apple ciders to go for all four of us. The women on staff are super friendly and since we are from Washington state, chatted us up about different orchards and apple varieties on the East vs. the West Coast. The pumpkin patch is also super cute! A field trip of children were venturing out to pick some just as we were leaving. This is a fantastic place to visit in the fall! Super festive. read more

PROS -Ordered the apple cider donuts and indeed, there are as yummy as everyone says they are -Tried a chocolate covered caramel apple which was pretty tasty and well made -Jaswell's Farm has plenty of parking so even if it gets crowded, you can still manage to find a spot -Pumpkin patch is beautiful and extensive, macintosh apples are perfectly crips and tart CONS -Apple picking and pumpkin "picking" is a bit more pricey than other places I've been to so we just ended up grabbing a bag of their apples instead -There always seems to be a massive queue of people waiting (although really not so bad if you go on weekdays) even though it is possible to call ahead to pick up your order......however this may be because the store was closed so we all had to wait outside in line Overall, I'm glad we visited and I'm sure we will be back. read more

I honestly thought this place was delightful! We came for apple picking. I like how flexible it is with number of people per bags of apples. They trust that you will try to get the right amount of apples for the amount of people you have, but it's not super strict, so you have flexibility to invite more people at a last minute notice. You can get a small bag for $28 or a big bag for $48. That being said, they also have an option for reservations (that requires prepayment) because it can get really busy, but if you go early enough in the morning, you probably won't need reservations. We went at 10:30 am on a Saturday at the very beginning of October and didn't have to wait at all. The honeycrisp apples were *SO* delightfully crisp and fresh - they had other options but the honeycrisp was my favorite! We also ended up getting some pumpkins too bc there is a super cute pumpkin patch on the farm too, at only $1/lb of pumpkin. And finally, the apple treats you can buy are amazing - the apple cider and apple cider donuts were so good! The service is great too, all very family friendly. Be prepared for the line for food to be out the door. Jaswells is just the perfect farm for fall activities! read more

I love apple cider donuts and always drag my husband apple picking every year so this year we settled on jaswell's farm. We made reservations in advance online which was easy to do. They require you to buy a bag of apples when you do so you have to put your money where your mouth is! We only made our reservation a couple of days before arriving and there were still plenty of spots left. It looked like you could also walk in day of but it was easier with a reservation. Then you are pretty much free to pick. When we went they had three varieties of apples and although some trees were picked over we generally found they had plenty to pick. I do wish they had signs on both ends of the rows because sometimes we would walk down one row and then go up another from the back and have no clue what type we were picking. They also had a rule saying you couldn't eat any apples as you picked which seemed very silly. How else are you going to know which types to get if you haven't tried them before (for example I'd never had a cortland so wasn't sure if I should bother). After picking we checked out the farm stand which had a good variety of snacks. The line was always long though so it took a while to get through. We got cider and cider donuts. I thought the donuts fresh from the fryer were very good. When we took them home they definitely didn't last quite as well on the next days but that's not too shocking. They also had a sunflower field and pumpkin patch that we didn't explore at all. Overall we had a good experience but I've been to orchards I liked more. read more

You certainly can pick your own apples or pumpkins from the patch. But the cider is absolutely fresh and the best around. I enjoy the bags of apples, local fresh vegetables and other fruit, and their top notch pastries. Apple pies and my favorite fruit of the forest - sooo good. Don't forget honey or great salad dressings (Hint: the raspberry vinegarette is great.) I'm so glad to see their season open. read more

I've been coming here every year the past 3 years for Apple picking. I usually come here around October but headed there earlier this year. I looked online and their FB page said it was open for Apple picking but when I went today, they only had their side Orchard open and not the main orchard. They only had Macintosh and Gala apples available today! Although the options were limited, the apples are still delicious! Huge, expansive pumpkin patch. Although I thought the individual pumpkins were a bit overpriced at $5 for small pumpkins and $10 for large pumpkins, the whole patch experience was very enjoyable and the selection of pumpkins was so vast. I spent at least 45 minutes walking around, taking photos and selecting the perfect pumpkins. There were not a ton of people in the patch and there was a lot of room to social distance. I did not have such a great experience waiting in line to order cider donuts and cider. There were no markers set up for social distancing although most everyone was wearing masks. The staff did not seem to be cleaning the counters or credit card machines between customers. Also, I could not believe they didn't have a board or signs or menus posted with the items available for sale. Everyone had to ask the staff what was available before being able to order which made an already long line move very slowly. I highly recommend they buy a huge wipe board and post the items available for sale. It would greatly speed up the line. At least the line is all outside- the store itself is closed. Pluses here are the free parking, relatively easy to get to location and huge pumpkin patch. The wait and chaos of the store is the main negative. read more

I needed 5 dozen cider donuts and 6 Gallons of cider for an event so I called to check on prices. The lady that answered was so nice and gave me all my options and prices. She offered to hold everything ready for me and took down my name and number. I arrived a few hours later and she was there, ready with my order and even gave me a cart to use to make the transport to my car that much easier. Everything was delicious and all the attendees at my event that night, felt extra special since everything came directly from the farm. read more

It wouldn't be fall in New England without apple picking! I visited Jaswell's the other day and there were two varieties of apples available for pick-your-own: Honeycrisp and (I think?) Macintosh. The price for PYO was $2.50 per pound, which is a great price for Honeycrisp but a little overpriced for Macintosh. But the apples were so fresh and delicious, it was worth paying a little extra! They were perfect for both baking and eating. They DO take credit cards ($5 min) for pick-your-own, which was unexpectedly convenient! One of the reasons I decided to come to Jaswell's instead of the other farms in the area is the farmstand. They sell a ton of different vegetables, baked goods, preserves, and other homemade treats. They also had a tent serving up hot apple crisp, apple cider, and apple cider doughnuts. Yum! I didn't visit the pumpkin patch, but it looked a little picked over, which was understandable for a Sunday afternoon in October! I might try to check out a few other farms before coming back here, but overall, Jaswell's has everything you could want for a fun fall day! read more

Such a beautiful experience with the family. We chose a perfect day with amazing weather. To be able to get yourself a spot for Apple/pumpkin picking, your have to go on their website and reserve a time slot. The process is fast and easy and it assures you a secure spot rather than waiting in line. After the Apple and pumpkin picking we stood in line for some Apple cider donuts which were absolutely amazing. Not too sweet and not too dry, my family and I definitely enjoyed them. The only reason why I didn't give Jaswells a solid 5 stars is because we were only allowed to pick 2 types of apples. Personally, I would have liked to have more of a variety. Also, a lot of the trees were completely empty and most of the apples were on the grass. But overall it was an great experience, would definitely go back because it is close to home but next year I'll be trying another orchard. read more

We had a flawless apple picking experience during COVID. They are very organized and ask that people reserve a time slot in advance online. You must pay for at least a peck in order to hold your spot. This makes arrival and getting to the picking totally seamless. Delicious apples, trees loaded with fruit, and super friendly staff. We love coming here. The apple cider donuts are unreal! You can't go into the farm store but they have tables set up outside, so you can get your baked goods, cider, and other goodies. If you're more organized, you can order ahead online and pick up on your way out. We went last year as well, and I am just so pleased they are able to open for picking this year too!! read more

Jaswell's is awesome. A quintessential New England apple orchard where you can pick your own and pay by the pound, load up on produce and sweet stuff in the farm stand, and get a hot coder to go. The must-have item no one should ever leave Jaswell's without? The cider donuts. Man alive! These things are amazing -- quite possibly the very best this life-long New Englander has ever had. The picking orchard isn't huge, but it's a great size for an hour or two of fun with a friend, your spouse and definitely with kids. I wouldn't recommend doing a large group-thing as the rows are pretty crowded as it is, and for maximum enjoyment you don't want to jam things up. They have a nice assortment of apples and if you get there early on in the season, you can really get a nice, fresh peck to take home with you. Later in the season the pickins' are definitely slimmer, but what you can't find int eh orchard you can get in the market, and you can also pick a pumpkin from the patch. Sweetness! I love the simple country farm of this place and can't wait to return every year with my family for a super fun time. read more

I really liked Jaswell's! The orchard is big with a good variety of apples, the farm store offers veggies, grocery items, baked goods, cider and more. They charge per pound for picking apples which is great because you only pay for what you pick. There is plenty of parking and even a festive little photo-op area with hay bales and scare crows. The trees weren't labeled and even though a woman gave us a brief description of where each variety was located, we soon forgot. The cider is pasteurized which they promote as a good thing but I REALLY prefer my cider to be unpasteurized. The cider donut however was possibly the best I've had. Seriously, really really good! Came here for the apple picking. Left here in a great mood with TONS of apples! The orchard is really beautiful, especially on a crisp, sunny fall day. The first bunch of trees were picked pretty bare, but when we went further back there was a RIDICULOUS amount of low-hanging fruit. Delicious apples everywhere!! We couldn't resist picking up a few things in the general store, too. The ladies working there were friendly and chatty. I DID manage to resist the baked goods and pies (although they looked delicious), but my mom got a pumpkin and I picked up some cider and mulling spice. The cider is so flavorful on its own, it doesn't even really need the spices - I will probably save them to make mulled wine later in the winter! The pick-your-own apples were something like $1.60/pound, which seemed really reasonable. That's cheaper than a lot of the nasty apples you find at the grocery store, and these straight-off-the-tree apples were extra delicious. I've already recommended this place to some of my friends who are looking for seasonal activities.
