Little drive through coffee spot on the corner of Fair Oaks and Sunset. We stopped by when I said I wanted to try it, after taking the dog out to the park. I got the Toffee Nut Silk with Sugar Free Toffee Syrup and Almond Milk. He got the Strawberry Banana Smoothie. We just moved to the area and happened upon this TINY coffee hut. It is so small the two people working there sure need to get along! This drive up coffee hut is in the parking lot on the corner of Sunset and Fair Oaks and if you blink you might miss it. I was at the Smog place next to it and decided to stop by. I was highly impressed with my drink. I got the toffee nut silk blended and my sister got the Milky Way blended. Such a great drive-thru coffee shop! It's quick, and offers many options for a morning wake up, or a midday pick-me-up. The drink I go for is an Iced Toffee Nut Silk with Almond Milk. This is the only place that I will buy coffee anywhere near fair Oaks. It's consistently great all the drinks are good. I always get a mocha. My son gets a number of different flavored cold drinks and it has never been anything but fabulous. But it's not just the tast that makes this place special. It's the people that work there. It's been a different group of people over the years I've been going, but one thing they all have in common is that they are not only incredibly friendly, but they get to know you and they know your drink and they know your dog and you feel like this is your coffee shop version of the Cheers bar from the old TV show. Why would anyone want to go to a chain where you were just a number even if they write your name on a cup. At Java they know your name they don't have to write it on a cup to know who to give it to. It's on the corner of sunset and fair Oaks Boulevard and you can go get your car smog while you're drinking your coffee. Great location, easy to get in and out of. And don't be scared away if there's a line of cars because they work quickly, but they always take time to acknowledge their customers. That's why I never mind waiting. I love coming to this little drive-through coffee place, which is conveniently located next to the church I attend on Sundays. The staff are always friendly and helpful and they warm up the muffins for you which really brings out the flavor! I love their blended drinks and delicious banana nut muffin, it's big too and today I tried their mango smoothie with no whip for the first time and it was an A+ in my book! So flavorful and delicious, unfortunately it's made from a mix when I asked the barista vs fresh, but who cares it's delish! My mom enjoys their coffee and pastries, today I treated her to an orange rich assorted fruit scone and a mocha with half the chocolate. Both which she enjoyed and the coffee really woke her up ha ha! It makes me feel a little like the good old days when I used to watch Cheers as a kid and everyone yelled out, Norm! This local coffee stand is great. The staff are friendly. The staff pay attention and know who their regulars are. They offer standard and specialty coffee drinks and food. The prices are very reasonable compared to other bigger coffee spots in the area. It is located at Sunset and Fair Oaks blvd. It has a two way drive up to let you head out any direction. It is just down the street form an always too crowded Starbucks drive through. If you are on Fair Oaks heading south of Madison, I say pass up the Starbucks and give Java Johnny's a try. They still use a punch card reward system too. So no apps and passwords to remember. Old school customer service. read more

I would have given this place 5 stars anyway, but now I wish I could give them an extra star. I normally go to Starbucks, because I'm not really a huge coffee person anyway and at least with Starbucks I know what I'm going to get. Yesterday, though, I needed some coffee on my way to work and the Starbucks line was out the drive thru, so I knew I wouldn't have time. I pass this little kiosk every day and never thought much about it, but there was only 1 car ahead of me and I knew I would need the caffeine, so I gave it a shot. The service was friendly and super fast, and the coffee was cheaper than Starbucks and (to my non-discerning tastes) just as good. I was very pleased. Cut to this morning, I thought I'd try them again. I placed my order and went for my wallet, but discovered I did not have it. I flagged them down, but since the service was so fast, the drink was already half made. They spotted me the drink, which they didn't have to do. I like it. Your coffee, quickly made so you can spill it on your lap at your leisure. Even if there's a bit of a line, they'll dispatch it in no time. Always loved Java Johnny's because they would make me a blended coffee that didn't require the powder, making it ACTUALLY sugar free. But today the older, large brunette woman (never seen her there before) working there said they can't do that and had no answer when I told her they always do it and that's why I go there. She said "it would just make a slushy mess". Well a blended drink is usually pretty "slushy", but I would think you could make it without having to make a "mess". End of story: ripped up my Java Johnny card, unliked their page, and won't recommend them to everyone like I used to. And will let everybody know that they aren't as good as the rest after all.
