We found Jay by doing a random contractor search on Google. We exchanged phone messages and he came out ready to work for us. We have lived in our house for 30 years and have done projects little by little, but my body is now 30 years older and unable to do carpentry and most handyman work. Anyway Jay took care of everything we needed in order to replace 5 upstairs hallway doors. He took out the old hollow core doors and replaced them with the prefinished six panel solid wood doors we picked out at Menard's. He took care of having them delivered and was here to receive them. He installed them AND swapped out the hardware to the specific style and color that we wanted rather than what came with the doors. Jay then installed all new trim around the doors and baseboards upstairs. We had the trim picked out at Menard's but there was some staining that needed to be done as well as a change order. He handled all of this without any backlash. Jay was always in the bast of spirits and he was working in 90 degree weather. The second project Jay handled for us was the replace all of our baseboard trim in the first floor hallways. This again was woodwork that we had picked out at Menard's and he purchased and brought to our house. Jay is by all means a consummate craftsman. He takes pride in his work and the detail he puts into his work shows that he cares. He is prompt when he schedules something and very courteous with us when we needed to reschedule one morning because of a medical situation. The rates that he charges are exceptionally reasonable. I would highly recommend Jay. Now that I have seen the quality and detail of his workmanship, his work ethic on the job and the complete thoroughness of his cleanup, I will hire Jay Freitag in a heartbeat. read more

I am absolutely thrilled and satisfied with the professionalism, service and work that Jay did, in accepting a very challenging breezeway door request which I envisioned for my kitchen in my previously remodeled 1910 Saint Paul home. My remodel was beautiful, but a door was never placed in the breezeway leading to the back door, creating a constant loss of heat during the cold months. Also, since I've had two break-ins I wanted an actual exterior door placed in my breezeway, adjoining the kitchen, not a mere 1 3/4" interior door. Jay is the only contractor who felt he could tackle this challenge. I actually have not met Jay yet. But he made his initial visit and assessment via a neighbor of mine. And the same neighbor assisted him during the install. The work was beautiful. Jay picked up the 9-life door at the local Lowe's, which I had purchased and he installed it the same day. He had to remake the trim, wide 10-inch white trim, which he did flawlessly. I will definitely be consulting Jay for future projects which I have.... and I sincerely hope he will be able to accept my work as I have no doubt about his abilities and his overall professionalism. We hired Jay to replace a few interior doors in our house. From start to finish he was great to work with! He was really clear on the phone when I first called and was easy to talk to. He showed up on time and was very friendly. We ended up having some weird, unusual hiccups (our house is over 100 years old) and he quickly figured out how to make sure the new doors got installed correctly AND he still finished within the same timeframe we had originally set! He has a real eye for detail. I hired Jay for painting in a small bathroom and second bedroom. At the last minute I decided to add new lighting fixtures. Jay did a very good job with the painting as there was considerable patch work needed. He also assembled and hung the 4 lighting fixtures. He asked if I wanted a dimmer switch installed on one of the fixtures and we did that too. Overall, I'm very happy with the finished work and plan on using Jay for painting and fixture update in my main bathroom soon.
