As he was leaving after the job, I noticed a strong smell of alcohol emanating from him. Later noticed how the surface was uneven and he didn't clean the floors before placing the coat. He put a coat OVER food particles and dirt that were then encased into the flooring. Kept coming up with excuses why he couldn't come back to redo them, i.e. flight was late, illness, or just would just not show up as scheduled. He refused any sort of refund and dodged all phone calls after. I had to pay $3,000 to have someone redo the floors that I already paid to him for his botched job. Do your research before hiring anyone. I later found he has an "F" rating on BBB.

We paid him $4200 to refinish two levels of old maple floors and replace some rotten water-damaged boards. His wood replacement work was crooked and leaving gaps. He left some rotten and water-stained boards. He did not fill holes and gaps with any filler. He left many deep circular scratches all over the floor. He left corners and areas near radiators completely unsanded. He then put the finish coats over sand, dirt, lint, and even leaves! We had to pay another professional $2000 just to lightly sand the dirt out and recoat for a smooth, even finish. But the scratches and unsanded areas remain an eye-sore. To fix it properly by a real professional (resand back to bare wood) would be another $5300! Please do yourself a favor and check reviews before hiring a guy like this. What a nightmare!
