I cannot emphasize enough how incredibly disappointing my experience was with Chris and this…read morecompany. We found Chris while looking for a plumber after months of searching for a general contractor to repair storm damage and update our Carolina Beach Condo. I had finally decided to GC the project myself, but these guys claimed they could handle the full scope of work, not just plumbing. I expressed to Chris that this was a very time sensitive project, as our condo is an income property that is not rentable at the moment. He was understanding and friendly, and they had availability to start within two weeks. Plus, the company reviews were excellent! We were so relieved. I put my other contractors on hold in the hope that Chris would start right away. In hindsight, their quick availability was likely a huge red flag that I ignored. Chris asked for quote request list, which I had already prepared, and I emailed it over. He was supposed to visit the property within the next few business days and send a quote back to me, but after a week of no follow up, I called him. He claimed his new office secretary had deleted all of their emails (which was likely a total lie) but he was so happy that I called back, and asked me to resend the quote request. Which I did immediately. No response. Five days later, I emailed him again, kindly reminding him that this was time sensitive. No response. Three days later, I called again. He sent my call straight to voicemail after one ring, and texted me right away asking me to text him instead. I immediately sent him a very nice message, asking him for any updates on the project, and asked him to please let me know if he was no longer interested so I could move on. No response. I am a kind-hearted person, and do not like leaving bad reviews, especially in a circumstance like this, where I never technically hired this company for work. However, there are certainly repercussions to consider when you completely waste someone's time. The condo could have been finished by now, and occupied by tenants bringing me income. Apart from following up in a timely manner (which really should be THEIR responsibility, not the homeowners) I can't understand what the heck happened to make Chris turn on me. All of these recent google reviews paint a clear picture - these guys are a complete scumbags. Find someone else and save yourself the headache.

Handy Man: REVIEW:…read moreMr. Handyman Wilmington NC. Based on my personal experience, do not hire these people to do anything. I needed a 2-plug electrical outlet relocated on the wall and replaced with a 4-plug outlet and a TV mounted on that wall with a mount that I had purchased. Mr. H quoted a price based on that description. I questioned if they should see the job first and was told no, the price is firm. The worker arrived at 9:30AM. Due to his incompetence he was here all day and had very little if any experience, as he was consulting "How To YouTube" Videos on his phone for every step of the job. He didn't have the tools and supplies needed and had to run to Lowes to purchase them. As he began to mount the TV he asked if I had a socket for his drill that would fit the head of the lag bolt for screwing into the stud, because it was too hard to do by hand. I went to a neighbor who let me borrow one, which he slyly tossed in his tool bucket and took it with him when he left. He finished around 4:30PM and showed me that the outlet worked by testing one of the plugs. When paying the bill on his computer tablet which showed an amount due of $560.00. The quote was $390.00. The worker phoned Mr. H and put me on the phone, and he explained that because he was here for many hours, he needed to charge me extra and for the other supplies he bought at Lowes, which were a spackling trowel and a large tub of spackle. I explained his flawed logic of me having to pay for his worker's tools, a large tub of spackle and hours that were never mentioned in the quote and paid the original price quoted. That evening, my wife and I settled in to watch TV, but now the TV would not function. I spent 3 hours on the phone with LG TV and Direct TV trying to figure out why I have a picture but cannot connect to Direct TV. We discovered that two of the new four outlets were not working. The worker came back the next morning and fixed it, using YouTube instructions again on his phone. I also took back the socket he stole and returned it to my neighbor. FINALLY finished? NOPE! That night I replaced a burned-out bulb in a lamp on an adjoining wall to the TV. It wasn't the bulb. Two of our wall outlets were not working because he created a short circuit in the new TV outlet. So much for his grasp of YouTube instructions. NOW, Mr. Handyman had to hire a REAL electrician to come out and fix it, which he did. The Electrician confirmed that it was hooked up so badly that he was surprised anything worked. I will be sending this experience to the corporate headquarters of the Mr. Handyman Franchise. R.
