For a newsagents of this size, it does well to stock all the essentials you would expect a typical newsagents to have. In addition, they have a variety of Liverpool postcards and few items of memorabilia such as sketches of familiar faces all at reasonable prices. This is by far the tiniest newsagents I have been to but Aleef News is a smart and well presented shop where there is efficient service and hardly any queues. Well, I have actually learnt something unique and interesting from my days back at school!! The products are generally suitable for all ages from infants to adults and sells popular games and boys toys. This store is quite inviting to the eye and ideal for buying gifts for little and big boys!

It's a serious problem. I'm seriously super-serious. As well as all those sort of easy stocking fillers and birthday gifts - beer glass cufflinks, Rocky bathrobes and Top Gear related memorabilia - there is a small selection of overpriced watches by Police and some far stranger items including the BBQ branding kit - "The BBQ Branding Iron makes customizing food from the outdoor grill easy" - I always fancied branding my meat before but it would have just been too difficult, thank the lord those days of eating meat without words seared into them are over. Fun for a look around but does anybody really want or need any of the stuff in here? Well, except the crossbow. I desperately need that.

I always need a cold drink when I'm out and about walking, especially in the summer, so I love that there are so many newsagents, even seemingly in the middle of nowhere. They are fairly limited in their reading material, but still, they provide the basics. I also noticed that this particular newsagents sold some charity shop items in the front window. They stock stationary, pet food, groceries, ice cream, confectionery, toys, soft drinks, magazines, newspapers, snacks, tobacco and much much more. They have a bill paying facility which is very useful. The staff are very friendly and helpful and make you feel very welcome. There is definitely a lovely community feel to Lark Lane Newsagents. If you happen pop in then look out for the homemade scones on the counter. They are made by the lady who runs the shop with her husband and they are simply the nicest scones I have tried in a very very long time!!

Chimond News manages to carry most of the basics for such a small shop, so if you need your newspaper or magazine you can probably find it here, and you can certainly find cold drinks and snacks. The worst experience of my life was ordering from Wilko's, I invertedly ordered 2 gazebos by…read moremistake due to not receiving a confirmation email and thinking my order had not gone through so placed another order, still no order confirmation all evening. the next morning I checked my bank and saw there was 2 transactions for the two orders, so they had actually been placed and still no order confirmations. I contacted Wilkos who indeed said they had a record of two orders even though I had no confirmations I explained I only wanted one and could I cancel one. They said due to their speedy dispatch that both orders had already left and I would have to refuse delivery of one gazebo to be refunded for one. I still get no delivery notification and then by chance while emailing Wilkos they tell me that my order is out for delivery that day, I rush home from work to wait for the delivery so I can refuse delivery of one of them. When the delivery arrives the courier only has one box from each gazebo and said the other boxes had not been dispatched, I refused delivery as told by Wilkos of one of the boxes and kept the other. Waited till the next morning still no notification of the other boxes arriving so contact Wilko's to be told the other boxes have not been sent to the courier yet. All in all I have had a nightmare with Wilko's so only got half of one Gazebo and been charged £709 twice, all in all I am ready for a breakdown. NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE WILKO

They sell garden things (patio furniture etc) as well as screws, lightbulbs and all the other bits and pieces you might need for your home. The DIY section can be quite useful if you don't have a car to visit the larger out of town superstores and the prices are usually less than similar items in other high street shops. There are a limited number of tills in the Chester store so you may have to queue for a while, and there is no way to leave the store without going through the till area so even if you decide the queue is too long, it may take you a while to get out again. The shop is fairly clean, although has the smell that these places usually attract; a combination of bathroom and garden products which isnt very attractive but is understandable.

There are three All That Jazz shops, two next to each other in the Forge, one selling greeting…read morecards, gifts and ornaments, the next garden and household repair items and the third shop on London Road stocking furniture and decorative items. I can never quite make my mind up about these shops, sometimes I enter to find them full of tat I would only expect to see on sale at a seaside resort, other times I find them full of unique statement pieces that are a bargain and would look great in my home. This variety and speedy turnover of stock makes for a great visit either way though as you just never know what you will find. In my opinion one of the best home shops in Warrington, especially when it comes to Christmas-they always pull out all the stops to stock up with inexpensive but beautiful Christmas ornaments-I know i'll be checking back regularily in the run up to Christmas day.
