Lassen Sie mich zunächst betonen, wie beeindruckt ich von der künstlerischen Leistung der Sängerinnen und Sänger, Schauspielerinnen und Schauspieler sowie der Tänzerinnen und Tänzer war. Ihre Hingabe, Ihr Können und Ihre Leidenschaft verdienen höchsten Respekt. Insbesondere die schauspielerische Präsenz und die vokale Exzellenz der Darbietenden haben mich tief bewegt. Umso schwerer fällt es mir, Ihnen mitzuteilen, dass ich dennoch mit großer Enttäuschung das Opernhaus verlassen habe. Diese Enttäuschung resultiert nicht aus der Qualität der künstlerischen Beiträge, sondern aus der Inszenierung, die für mich in mehreren Punkten die eigentliche Essenz der Oper verfehlt hat. Andreas Homoki trifft es in seiner Beschreibung auf Ihrer Webseite auf den Punkt: "Ein Figaro muss Spaß machen." Leider hatte ich nicht den Eindruck, dass dieses Ziel bei dieser Aufführung erreicht wurde. Die Oper ist für viele Menschen ein Ort, an dem sie der Realität für einige Stunden entfliehen können - sei es durch die Musik, das Bühnenbild oder die Erzählung. Diese Magie wurde jedoch durch die mehrfachen und unvermittelt eingebrachten DEI-Elemente (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) empfindlich gestört. Diese Einspielungen haben nicht nur den Erzählfluss unterbrochen, sondern auch die Illusion und den Genuss, die für ein Opernerlebnis so essenziell sind, zerstört. In der Pause tauschten wir uns mit anderen Gästen aus, und es herrschte breiter Konsens darüber, dass diese Einwürfe als störend empfunden wurden. Ich kann mir schwer vorstellen, dass jemand ein Ticket für 300 Franken kauft, um während einer Opernaufführung eine Lektion in DEI zu erhalten. Es ist gerade die historische und zeitlose Natur der Oper - wie in diesem Fall eine Geschichte aus dem Jahr 1778 -, die ihre Faszination ausmacht. Zusätzlich möchte ich das Bühnenbild und die Kostüme ansprechen. Sie wirkten auf mich enttäuschend minimalistisch und wenig inspirierend. Turnschuhe und moderne Kleidung mögen in einer experimentellen Produktion ihren Platz haben, doch in einer klassischen Oper wie Le Nozze di Figaro schienen sie fehl am Platz und nahmen der Inszenierung ihre Zeitlosigkeit. Insgesamt hatte ich das Gefühl, dass die ursprüngliche Intention von Mozarts Meisterwerk zugunsten einer modernen Agenda zurückgestellt wurde. Für mich wirkte die Aufführung eher wie eine DEI-Präsentation, angereichert mit Musik, Tanz und Schauspiel, anstatt eine Opernerfahrung zu bieten. Ich frage mich, ob meine Sichtweise eine Einzelmeinung darstellt oder ob auch andere Besucher ähnliche Eindrücke hatten. Letztlich empfinde ich es als besonders schade für die Künstlerinnen und Künstler, deren bemerkenswerte Leistung durch die Inszenierung in den Hintergrund gedrängt wurde. You can tell how much hard work dedication ms practice goes into it. I highly recommend you do not leave Zurich without catching a performance here first. Wow, so nice. Beautiful opera I have to shorten my video so that I can upload. It's frowned upon to record here and it's also very strict with being seated before the showtime. They will close doors if you arrive late you won't be able to get in, so come early! :)

For fans of EDM, some indie/alternative, pop, and hip hop, this years's Zurich OpenAir was a success. I originally had plans to go to one day of the festival (Saturday, August 31) to finally get a taste of that EDM music festival experience. I ended up going for the last couple of hours, when the acts I was interested in (Lost Frequencies and Kygo) were playing. The venue is LARGE, but everyone seemed pretty chill and civil for a music festival! There were an ample amount of food and drink options, and plenty of tents blasting all waves of music! I was able to join a group of locals who I just met that night! Solo travel at its finest. You could also tell the crowd wanted to be there, based on the uniform energy and excitement---this was most apparent when Kygo came out to play! I would highly recommend the ZOA festival in particular to dance music fans, but the venue itself hosts other music festivals from what I gather. Definitely a well-kept treat for the locals!

The Tonhalle Orchestra is one of the very great orchestras. David Zinman, the conductor, is practically a legend and really knows what he is doing. This is kind of my home away from home - ithis place has kind of a comfortable and melancholic feel. I could stare at the ceiling for hours :) If you are in zurich an are interested in classical music, i highly recommend a visit at tonhalle zurich.

Over the years they have had guest 'desks', including the late Rostoprovitch (who I met first) and Yoyo Ma. There are many others. In recent years the Tonhalle has toured America and Japan, as well as it's normal tours of Europe. Two years ago, they played at the Royal Albert Hall also.

Apropos drinks: I ordered one beer the whole night, and, thanks to some uber-efficient staff member, was only able to drink about half of it before it disappeared from its perch next to me. -guess I should have chained the darn bottle to my wrist. After reading TN's review I now know that toilets are on another floor at the opposite end of the joint and I am glad I never had to go on the hunt for them.
