I have had a necklace custom designed by Aldemar using diamonds from other pieces of jewelry that I didn't wear and it turned our beautiful. He also just redesigned my wedding ring and changed the stone from a princess cut to a round diamond with a halo and it is stunning. Another jeweler put some weird riser thing inside of the band because he said changing the size would compromise the diamonds in the band and it was uncomfortable to wear. Well, Aldemar removed them and resized the band with no problem. Aldemar is a quality craftsman, he is kind, professional and fair. I trust him wholeheartedly. I am a transplant from California's Bay Area and have been here in Texas for 14 months now. I needed to have a few watch batteries replaced. I tried looking in my area but could not find any watch/clock shops near me that would change a battery without sending the watches out. The one I would use back home would change the battery on the spot. It seemed all the ones I found were in Dallas. I found a jewelry store in Allen that seemed promising but once there I was told they would have to send the watches out and I'm not about that. I started looking again this week and found JB Jewelers in Plano. I'm in Fairview so that location wasn't too far. Once there, I rang the Ring doorbell and was promptly let in. When I went in there were several customers being helped and the young woman behind the counter, named Anginette who acknowledged me by saying she would be with me shortly. When it was my turn she was polite, professional, very pleasant and eager to help me. While waiting for my watches to be ready (no other customers at that time) she let me try on as many rings as I wanted, without the pressure to buy. She also offered solutions for what I was looking to do with my 30 year old wedding set. I found her input knowledgeable and very helpful without feeling like I was taking up all her time. I came here because of the good reviews, and I'm very happy I did. I asked for an estimate on ring sizing via yelp, and Aldemar quickly answered. My priorities were- Do you do all your jewelry repair on site (yes), how long is the process (drop off one day and pick up the next), and price (he was in my budget). Let me just say, I highly recommend this place. He followed through, was courteous, did what he said he was going to do, charged what he said he was going to charge, it was ready when he said it was going to be ready. I especially liked that, even through Aldemar was a "fancy" jeweler (& knew his stuff) he wasn't snobby and didn't look down on me because I was only asking for some simple jewelry repairs. I had my platinum ring resized at JB Jewelers. I stopped by the store with my ring, and I tried on a couple of sizes and decided to go 1 size up. I received an estimate on the cost for a 1 size up resize. I dropped the ring off a few days later and the work was completed as promised in one day. Review 1 of 2: I have thought long and hard about writing this review. It will be a long one so hang in there with me. My now fiancé went to this shop in December looking to get an engagement ring. We were going on a trip soon and he wanted to propose on the trip. My fiancé did not allow for enough time to get the ring before we left for the trip, so the shop gave him a ring to propose with as a place holder and told him the ring would be ready when we got back from our trip after the new year. He had ordered an OVAL diamond in an OVAL halo setting. This is not some extravagant ring. I wanted something small and simple. This story is not one of me being upset over not having a big enough ring. All was well, my fiancé proposed in a beautiful location and I couldn't wait to get back home and get my ring. We arrived home late on a Wednesday. Eric went by the shop at lunch time on Thursday only to be told the ring wasn't ready but would be ready at the end of the day. The end of Thursday came around and it still wasn't ready, but we were told it would be ready Friday. Friday comes around and it still wasn't ready. I was supposed to leave to go see my parents on Friday and show them my ring and celebrate the engagement but now I had to post-pone. On Friday I called and talked to the jeweler as I was getting very emotional. I kept getting my hopes up only to be let down that it wasn't ready. When I spoke to the jeweler that Friday he said that he checked the tracking and it would be in on Saturday morning. This should have been my first clue that something was wrong. If there was tracking showing that it was being delivered on Saturday...how was it ever supposed to be ready before then. We picked up the ring on Saturday and I went down to my parents' house. I kept looking at it and thinking that something was off about it. I had planned on getting it appraised as to add it to my insurance policy, so I thought I would wait and get a second opinion on my suspicion. As soon as I handed the appraiser (a third-party appraiser that only does appraisals and does not buy or sell jewelry or diamonds) he said what a nice Marquis diamond. I was livid! I knew it looked off and had thought that was what it was but not being familiar with jewelry wanted to make sure. This shop had put a marquis diamond and squished it into my oval setting. Wanting to make sure that I had my facts straight I first called my fiancé. I asked him if the jeweler had told him that he was going to put a marquis diamond in. He confirmed that no he had only asked for oval and had only been told oval. I then called the jeweler and inquired as to why they had done so. All they could say was that it was a really good diamond and that the oval diamond he had found wasn't a good diamond. However, that was not the point. The point was that this marquis diamond (good or not) should NEVER have been put in this ring. He then proceeded to push the blame onto my fiancé saying that he was trying to work within my fiancé's budget and time frame. The jeweler is the professional, it was his duty and job to tell my fiancé what he could accomplish with his budget and time frame. He should never have stuck the wrong shaped diamond in the setting and not informed us that he was doing so. I told the jeweler this was unacceptable, and he offered to find an oval diamond for the setting. He would call me when he found something. I waited 2.5 weeks and had not heard anything. I called the jeweler and he asked for another half a week to get something in and to come in on Tuesday and he would have a diamond for me. The diamond that he had was of way less quality than the diamond that was currently in my ring. It looked yellow in comparison to the stones that were set in the halo. I told him this was unacceptable and the same quality diamond in the right shape needed to be put in my ring. However, he was unable or unwilling, I am not sure which, to get an oval diamond that was not going to cost me another $1,000. I will admit that I did not keep my composure throughout this conversation and I at times became unprofessional. For which I did immediately apologize and then proceeded to cry. I was overly emotional at this point and the whole process had taken away the happiness that being engaged and getting your engagement ring is supposed to provide. He said to leave the ring and give him a few more days and he would find another stone. I came back a few days later to another stone that was not of the quality I was expecting. This time in the setting. While it was in the setting I could clearly see where the previous diamond had put dents in the setting since it did not fit and was never meant to be there. I agreed that he could go down in diamond size to get the quality of diamond that I was looking for. He said to give him another week or so and he would make remake the setting and get a good diamond. That it would be ready the next Tuesday. read more

Poor customer service - delays and one excuse after another. In the send I took the rings, paid up and had to take to another jewelers to modify. The extra baguettes he put in both rings along the side rubbed against the other the fingers on either side of the ring. The engagement ring had three sharp edges inside the ring. I know for sure that he didn't put the right diamond baguettes back in the new wedding band. He is not trustworthy in my opinion. The modify to remove the four baguettes on the two rings and smooth out the sharp edges, cost me another $800.00. AND the rings spin around now and I have to go to a third jeweler to correct than. read more
