Tale of 2 projects. The first was kitchen counter replacement. It was excellent, professional, timely and very faily priced. Jose and crew are at the top of thier game. Could not be better. However, I tried hiring them for a 2nd project ( because the 1st project went SO well) and got ghosted by Jose tbe owner. I tried to reach him more than 15 times to no avail. It's all very confusing. I just hope he is OK and that he was just too busy for the 2nd project. But he should have just made one simple call back to let me know. Jose's amazing team made our new kitchen & powder room a big success. Beyond just countertops and tile, they helped us with electrical, plumbing, painting, demo and miscellaneous work to deliver a successful project on budget and in a reasonable timeframe. First they demoed the existing kitchen and prepped the site, including electrical, drywall patching, texturing and painting so everything was ready for the cabinet installers. Meanwhile they took delivery of the quartz slabs we selected. When the cabinets were in the JC team fabricated and installed the countertops and backsplash. They helped with all the remaining steps including tile repair; sink, faucet, and appliance installation; touch-up painting and finishing touches. In parallel, they demoed and installed the new bathroom vanity, fabricating its countertop from our quartz; installed the sink; faucet and lighting; and repainted the room. Finally they re-did the fireplace surround with the extra quartz, giving us a consistent look throughout the first floor. JC's fabricators brilliantly matched the irregular patterns of our quartz across all joins. The quality of their work was excellent. And every member of the team was polite, friendly and efficient in their work. The final results are amazing, we are very pleased and we have already received many compliments on the work. I found JC Tile through a neighbor. He responded quickly and gave a detailed quote and schedule to gut and retile 2 bathrooms. I went with JC because he was very easy to engage with and came with strong references. His crew did a great job, i added a few details like extra electric outlets and built in shelf with lighting. He brought extra guys and still finished on time and with reasonable price adjustments. I also had his team replace some old steel pipes in the crawl space and they were very efficient at that task. So glad I found JC Tile & Countertops. I was contemplating whether to move forward with Home Depot or Lowe's but their waiting time was minimum 4 weeks after they make the template, 6 weeks for Lowe's. I like the fact that my initial conversation with Jose, the owner, was very straightforward, gave me the impression that they are completion oriented and no politics. For my kitchen, they initially told me 1 - 1 1/2 weeks but got everything done in less than a week. They also have a plumbing crew to finish the job. Love my beautiful Quartz Countertops!! We are in the final stages of a complete kitchen renovation and, after a bad experience with the tile contractor that was recommended by Carme Valley Stone, we hired JC Tile & Countertops to do the backsplash. Jose and his crew were very courteous and professional throughout the entire process. They made sure we were happy with the grout color and layout before starting. The installer, Ceasar, was very experienced and did a marvelous job. He laid the new tile perfectly and made our 60 year old shower not only beautiful but also straight, level and square in preparation for a new door installation. We were so pleased with the quality and attention to detail we decided to have them update the tile in our other bathroom. Jose and his crew at JC Tile did a fantastic job reconfiguring our shower, removing a wall that formerly held the plumbing, installing a larger window, and tiling the new shower and floor. We have remodeled in the past and that experience had made me never want to do it again. Jose was completely different than our prior experience with a contractor. His communication was excellent, his work was meticulous, and the results are awesome. He didn't try to rush and cut corners. (We had ended up with a mold problem before because of something not done correctly.) Jose worked closely with us to design a plan that included no glass to wipe down. The tiles are so flat and the floor slope is perfect so that no water escapes the shower area even though we have no lip / barrier. The work is night and day from the work we had done before with a licensed contractor. We had 2-3 guys working daily, and Jose was checking in regularly, and working with the guys during the most critical parts of the job. They finished exactly on schedule to the day despite me adding a couple things to the original plan. The guys cleaned up each day and on the last day they were on their hands and knees wiping down the floor and then they put our entryway rug back. We'd use them again without hesitation. His prices were fair and high value and he is a high-end installer. We love the way our bathroom turned out. read more

Jose is hands down the best contractor I have ever worked with. I have done several remodels over the years and recently embarked on a massive scale remodel in Carmel. The attention to detail from Jose and his crew is one of their best qualities. As with most construction and renovation projects there are always obstacles and challenges that arise throughout. Jose never tried to cut corners because of other contractors mistakes. He would take the necessary steps to make the project a success. Whether that is getting the perfect squared corner, waterproofing to prepare for a steam shower, or reapplying grout to get the "right" texture. This bring me to another one of Jose's best qualities, open communication. He is a joy to work with because he would always error on the side of over communicating. For my wife and I, we had very little experience with his trade. Jose always took the time to explain our options and was always giving us a heads up on decisions that would need to be made with pros and cons of all available options. Our general contractor was also very impressed with the quality of work. He was a more difficult judge of talent then we were and he would make comments of how pleased he was with the final product. Our general contractor is using him on his next multi-million dollar project and I have a feeling Jose is going to be in high demand after that. Buyer beware, unbelievably unprofessional. A tile job can sure look pretty, but the proper prep work will determine whether it lasts for 2 years or 20 years. Jose seems nice, and will promise the moon, show pretty pictures of other work, yet doesn't know the absolute basics of tile work. Backer board in a shower needs to be flat,level, square, zero holes, taped and mortared at the seams...this is basic plumbing code. Jose and crew doesn't know this nor care. JC Tile's backer board install was over 3/4" out of level, w/ giant holes and cracks where water can seep through, wrong screws, roofing tape to try to hide the imperfections, screws not sealed, and huge globs of silicone sealant at the seams instead of the proper mesh tape/mortar. Jose cannot be reasoned with, he believes that since he has been skimping on tile work from day one, all will be ok. No way. JC Tile's work in wet/shower environments absolutely will not last, and will lead to enormous water damage costs down the road. read more
