Normally, I wouldn't bother reviewing a well known department store that's been here for 20 years but I had to give praise to the photographer and her staff. I came in today for a business headshot 15 minutes early and the photographer used that extra time to let me experiment with more poses and backgrounds than usual. She was invested in making sure I had the best photo possible. I was also impressed with how much she knew about my photo requirements. All I told her was that I'm graduating medical school and applying for residency. She already knew the specific dimensions that my application's headshot required, and helped me pick out poses that best fit that size. The staff was very patient and offered helpful input while I was picking out my favorite photos. Highly recommend this place for your professional headshot! read more

I'm not a fan of JC Penney and I find them to be too expensive. They're better than Macy's but then so is your mother's basement. This JCP is at the Baybrook Mall and it's hard to find stuff because the layout is weird. It's a massive store with a lot of stuff and not as many employees as you would expect. Major sales going on. A must stop this weekend. The store is not that busy tonight but it will be this weekend. It looks like everything is on sale with an additional 25- 50% off. I recalled when I worked in retail I do not remember these many sales items at one time. I will definitely be back since it is Father's Day Weekend coming up. FYI, it's not only men's items on sale but everything. We received great service from Katherine... I love the salon at this particular location. one reason I like this location is the placement of the salon. When entering from the parking lot it's just inside the store rather than all the way to the back like many stores. Easy in and out when just grabbing hair products. The staff at this location are all always so nice and helpful when I come in. Sarah has helped me many times and provides awesome customer service! The sales on name brands like Redken and Joico for the big bottles keeps me coming back and the super helpful staff is a bonus. read more

Clothing selection is great! The mess that I encountered on a Sunday at 11 am opening was not great. I will still shop in store with the mess, I just will not spend as much time there which equates to less money spent. Worthington and women's career separates are great for the working woman. I went in here to find me some bedding, but I ended up buying three cute tops for only $5. I did eventually get to the bedding which was a disappointment because they only had two bed in a bag sets--- one all pink and the other all checker print for a guy. It on sale. The one I did like was emerald green came with two sheets and pillowcase for $120. That was too expensive. I'll just try Macy's next time hopefully they'll have what I need. read more

Absolutely zero dress selection for anyone under the age of 60+. Seriously surprised by the lack of options there. My wife was bummed out, as she was hoping to find a few options. Instead she felt like she would be buying something for a funeral or her would be 50th birthday. Not only that, the semi under 60 options were bland and incredibly high priced. What I loved about Pennie's in the past were the prices and deals, aside from clearance. Those were very dire here. Also, a ton of the clearance clothing had stains from food on them. Pretty shocking honestly. The only reason for the one star was for the quality of the employees. They deserve five stars. read more

There is a very rude lady working at jcp order pickup. She is a larger blonde lady with a lot of makeup (think mimi from that old comedy show). She is not being very user friendly with an adult couple who can't use their credit cards. So they left because she wasn't able to help them. Now I am waiting for a order that should be here, but now they can't find it. Apparently it has been shipped back even though we received a call that it should be here. Joann and Belinda are the cashiers right now. And Joann is getting testy. Update...the manager who is a rude little bugger found the items in the back and they are not even apologizing for being in the wrong. It has not been 12 days since they originally called. The turd who took my original order took a shortcut and chose my moms contact info so he wouldn't have to input mine. I specifically told him to make sure they call my number when the order is ready. The little rude manager man shows me a log sheet with 12 next to my moms home number. These lying turds didn't call until last Wednesday and even then, should've called my number. What a waste of over half an hour. The customer service at this store is extremely terrible. I hope all three of you have an extremely rotten day and karma bites you in your extremely useless a**es. Another update: in my haste to leave this horrendous store, I did not even realize my order was incorrect. I had two plain and one print curtain, when it should've been vice versa. I don't even have my original receipt to know if the kid ordered the right thing in the first place. The review is for my friend who this happened to RECENTLY her yelp page was not working so I POSTED FOR HER! I had my hair highlighted in the store on Wednesday last week. I normally just get highlights then shampoo and done and have perfect results. This time I had the highlights done and I was at sink and she grabbed mixture from back and I said what is that you are putting on my hair and said stop at least 4-5 times I don't get anything extra put on my hair. I said is that peroxide on my head it is burning asked three more times and no answer and asked again said I smell peroxide. She walked me back to my chair and I said is that my hair on your shirt. It had already started breaking off. My friend noticed that shampoo for over processed hair was used at sink and I was sent home with a conditioner as a free complimentary gift plus deep conditioner. "Hmmm never gave me anything free in the past". I have my managers license for hair just do not practice it any more so know a chemical burn when I have one and breakage all over my hair. My hair has been breaking off since that day and the burns are so sore that I have had ice on my head for almost a week now. No patch test was done prior of putting the color straight on my head or this would not have happened. If they had told me hey I am going to put something different on your hair but has peroxide that will be on your scalp would have refused. I am super allergic and can only get foils that do not sit on the scalp but in the foil. I have been in major pain since it happened. I went in to talk to Salon Manager and had to tell her that I needed an incident report because of burns and breakage. I told her how sore my head was she did not care at all and get this me who rans hair salons in the past I would of never been this unprofessional and say to me the salon client said Well how do I know your hair was not broken before? That is when the nice receptionist said she knew my hair from before and it is always in great shape. Oh and get this Salon Manager said she spoke with the store manager and she was on her way out the door for what I found out was vacation and had not time to look at hair and scalp that day. I used to work for JCPenney and can not even believe nobody called to see how I am doing. When I managed salons we had things occur I the past I always called clients back especially one in pain guess things have changed. wow.The store manager who still has not called me back either guess burns on scalp are not a top priority so almost a week now no call back from salon manager or store manager to see how I am doing or feeling.T read more

I had a very bad customer service experience here. I ordered a few pairs of curtains online and wanted to return some to the store. I came at 5 o'clock on a weekday evening, so I did not expect the store to be very busy. There were only a few customers that I saw. Only a few customer service desks were open, so I waited for half an hour while the person ahead of me asked them to put price tags on a bunch of things she was purchasing from a clearance bin. First of all, why would they put things that do not have price tags on them in a sale area? Secondly, why did it take two employees to complete this task while I waited in line? It seems the more logical choice would have been for one employee to help me and one employee to help the woman in front of me, but apparently this thought didn't cross their minds. When I finally got to the front of the line, I was told that I had waited in the wrong line and that I needed to wait in a different one now. This was particularly frustrating because I clearly had a bag of returns with me, and at any point in time one of the people working there could have noticed that and told me I was not on the right line, but no one did so. So then I waited in another line, and finally returned the curtains after having been in the store for 45 minutes. The entire experience greatly highlighted the immense incompetence of the employees, and their customer service was AWFUL. I will never purchase from this store again, online or in store. read more

Online shopping is a nightmare this store makes mistakes with the ordering and expect you to reorder they do not value customers at all I will never ever shop with this store again. "How can you mess up order send the wrong item" then you wait for weeks just for them to tell me that its out of stock". I ordered the Katy Ireland San Mateo Mirrored Standing Jewelry Cabinet online in plenty of time to come in for a gift that I needed by 3/11. When it passed the date of arrival (3/7) I contacted the online customer service department. I was told I should be at the stored, when I contacted the store (Willowbrook Mall) I was informed it had not arrived and I should check back the next day. I called the store the next and after being on an extended hold was told to check back the following day. When I called the third day I was placed on hold approximately 10 minutes and then transferred to the online department without any warning. The online department told me it should be at the store. I decided to patient so I gave it to Saturday 3/11. When I called the store I was placed on hold approximated 15 minutes and then transfer to the online department. I was then told by a representative that the item was shipped to the store and I needed to contact them. At that point I became furious of being transferred back and forth and no one knew where the item was. I requested to speak with a supervisor. I explained what was going on to the supervisor, she contacted the store; we were on the phone approximately 45 minutes with no resolution and no one knowing where the item was. The supervisor then requested to speak with a supervisor at the store location. She did not know where the item was either and told us the item should have been delivered by 3/7 but it wasn't at the store. I become so irate at that point I just ask for a refund. They were really good and quick to offer a refund and get me off the phone. I purchased an LG electric dryer and a Black LG Refrigerator during the Black Friday sale. The sales rep. said that it would be delivered in a week and to ignore the color of refrigerator on the receipt that it'll come in black like I ordered. The next day I looked up the order and the sales rep ordered a LG gas dryer and a stainless steel refrigerator. I thought this is just a minor error so I asked to speak to the Manager (Joe). I thought that he would fix the issue. Not even close. He wanted me to purchase a new Black LG Refrigerator and LG electric dryer on my credit card while the first botched purchase has not been refunded yet. The Manager (Joe) did not resolve the issue, nor did he offer any remorse about the situation. The delivery people show with the wrong LG appliances. So we cancelled the purchase and asked for a full refund. The sales associate at the 1-800 major appliances got involved and told us this issues could have been corrected the same day but the manager (Joe) was being lazy and didn't want to deal with the hassle. Long story short DO NOT BUY APPLIANCES FROM JC PENNEY @ BAYBROOK MALL! THIS HAS BEEN A MAJOR HASSLE DEALING WITH THE SALES REP AND STORE MANGER. Management at this store is a total joke. read more
