It has the classic look of a theatre from the days gone by. We went tonight to see our first live theatre play / comedy performance here, since coming to Germany, called "Ziemlich beste freunde". We have been to numerous live musical performances and so on in Germany but not to a play / comedy. Note that all performances here are only in German. I did not see anything else for the rest of the year besides German language plays.
It is a lovely theatre and they have many comedies playing here. I can't really tell but it seems, there are plays that are not comedies also playing here. If small theater with small cast is your thing, you will love it. The play we saw was in total a cast of 6 people. It's really about the dialogue, the story and the acting and, the one we saw was brilliant, funny with great actors. Having seen hundreds of small theatre performances over the years, it was excellent to go to a small German live play.
There is a bar on the lower level where you can get a drink and some snacks before the show. People are a bit more dressed up here which was a surprise, and I made a mental note for the next time. It's not very expensive to buy tickets for the performances here and I am more than likely to come back here to see other comedies. I much prefer this to a cinema.
I will definitely come here again. It's a great way to spend an evening in Munich and be entertained. After the performance you can go to the bars at the Hotel and or night club for the night owls ;-) There are plenty of places for pre theatre dinner nearby.
