Okay so I literally dread doing my taxes every year it's just time consuming and well a bit…read morestressful. I have always and I do mean always had a great experience at our local Liberty Tax . I like the familiar friendly faces that we usually see ( my husband and I ) when we come here. Unfortunately we were less than pleased with our experience this go round . So I'll start with a positive. The establishment was clean as it always is. Clear plexiglass windows at desks for our protection as well as the tax preparer and hand sanitizer radially available literally everywhere. We were greeted immediately upon entering and the wait was not horrible at all at 5:00 pm . Okay so as I said this is a stressful thing for myself but in the past I have always had confidence in the individual doing my tax return they have answers when I have questions and they do so in a positive manner. They display confidence in their work and I feel like a get a very personable experience which in return relives me of my stress . Yeah well this time it definitely lacked all of the above . I went in stressed and left more stressed as I felt like my teenager just did my tax return for me. So I found that this year due to new child tax and stimulus payments received there was a lot more paperwork than usual. So since my husband and I did not realize we would need to bring all this stuff with us we were missing some paperwork ( not their fault ). where I take issue is that they never offered any instruction on how to find the information we needed. My husband had to figure out himself he could log onto the irs website and get it we were not told this . She explained nothing to us and definitely lacked confidence in her own work and once the manager was called over still no explanation and no help for us . She ( our tax preparer) was not very friendly and seemed to lack answers to any of our questions and her answer always consisted of a shoulder shrug and and a yeah uh huh well that's how they do it . She almost seemed angry or frustrated at us at times for having questions. I take issue with this because we came to professionals to get this done ( we don't do taxes ) but we were not treated as customers we were treated as students with Little to no instruction on what to do and our tax preparer was just as lost as we were . We left miserable and doubtful we are unsure if things were done correct and by the end of it all we ultimately just wanted to get out there and we're willing to do whatever it took to do so. We paid someone to do our taxes but I do feel like we did all the work and I'm not feeling positive in the job done so instead of leaving my stress there as I have done in the years before I left with more stress than I came with . Word of advice to anyone filing anywhere call before going and ask about what extra paperwork that will be needed. This could definitely help to elevate a lot of stress and do what I wish we would have done if your not confident in the service you are receiving ask for someone else or go elsewhere.

As a small business owner, the IRS seems to relish in making my life difficult. I have struggled to find a tax professional that understands and empathizes with my plight. For the record, empathy is very important to me. I need someone that really listens even if I don't have any idea what I am talking about. I had a unique tax challenge and I put her to the test. The fact that she could answer it was on thing, but that it was a brilliant answer was altogether something refreshing. For me, finding someone that I could trust with my taxes that I also felt had my best interests in mind, was a akin to opening my G.I. Joe with Kung Fu grip on Christmas morning when I was eight years old; it was magical to say the least. I had always looked at Liberty Tax Service as a place to have your personal taxes done. I never imagined they would have the skills to do a complex corporate return. Silly me. As it turns out Ryan worked for one of the Big-4 accounting firms and is well versed on corporate returns. Not to mention that he is just a darned nice guy, too. Put all these things together, along with the inordinately low tax preparation bill and I now love having my taxes prepared. I would even go as far as saying, a visit to the Dentist to have all my teeth extracted comes before having my taxes prepared on the list of things i'd rather not do. Ryan and Tiffany have made having my taxes prepared as fun as something like that can be, plus they always have snacks on hand.
