Great local sporting goods store that is worth the drive. Well stocked and pricing is competitive or better than Dicks or Big 5. I picked up a dozen Diamond brand baseballs for $70. Dicks has them for over $78 a dozen. Has a good section of baseball gear and lots of glove-mitts and bats to choose from. The help was great, knowledgeable and helpful. I remember going here in November of 2016. It was a middle aged gentleman maybe in his 50s. He was really rude, very standoffish and brushed me aside. I was in the market for a 92 fs Beretta INOX and he talked down to me like I never handled a gun before. Maybe because I was wearing a hoodie, cap and shorts but geez, a potential customer is a potential customer. I'm updating my 1 star review to 5 stars because of the correction that took place. Original I was placed 1st for a p220 and after months of waiting, I received a phone call which I couldn't answer, because I was at work, I called back the missed call around 7 and got the voicemail of the store, I left a message indicating if this was regarding the p220 that I'm interested and can come the following day. No call was returned and I followed up again the following day but was told my p220 was sold to someone else. Not fun. Long story short, the brother that works in the back, great guy, Ryan called back and made things right (no discount was offered, which I wasn't looking for) but only an honest apology for the mishandling. He then placed me first for the next p220 and I ended up picking it up. The wrong was made right. I wish I knew about this place sooner! Kevin and Ryan were both helpful, courteous, and professional when I bought my first handgun. I am guilty of being one those who waited until this Covid-19 crisis. Prior to visiting the store, I called and asked if they had any handguns in stock. They kindly asked what I was looking for and told me what they had in stock, quantity, and pricing. I'm sure other FFL's will not do this especially during this time. When it came to my pickup date, they called and scheduled a pickup time for my firearm. When it came to my pickup date, they called and said the DOJ didn't release it on time (due to being "backlogged" by the influx of recent gun sales). Very rude, standoffish and disrespectful old man named Kevin who gave me a hard time when buying ammunition. He was talking to me like I didn't have a clue of anything and turned me away on my first visit and told me to come back with proper documentation, even though I had it. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I came back with extra documentation and it turns out he was wrong the whole time, and then continued to give me a hard time about not printing it out as a physical copy. He also charged me an extra fee to run another check even though I had told him the correct personal info in the first place. No other place gave me as much trouble as this because they don't have giant egos like this guy and they're not dinosaurs who can't use their own technology. Not to mention the place is overpriced and has close to no selection. I recommend that everyone stay away from this place as they'll just talk you down about every topic and be very difficult with you. I went in here to take my fire arms safety test and purchase a gun, and was told to wait to schedule and appointment to take the test. I'm fine with that, then the phone rings and the old man answers the phone and tells someone on the phone the same thing. Well, rather that offering me an opportunity to schedule an appointment, the old man makes an appointment for someone that's not even there. What a lack of consolidation the old man has. I didn't get the names, but I'm assuming it was the dad and one of the brothers. They helped me with the glove, gave me some tips on how to keep it laced, and made it super easy overall. Growing up in Alhambra, I remember going to Jeffs as a kid with my dad in its original location on Valley Blvd many many years ago. We would come here for all our Little League needs: gloves, catching gear, bats, balls, trophies, etc. Today, Jeffs newer and larger facility on Las Tunas Dr. just proves to me how far this family business has come. Most recently, I have visited Jeffs with my fiance for fishing equipment and bait. We stopped by this past Saturday for frozen mackerel to use as bait for our trip to Puddingston Lake. My fiance is quite the fisherman, therefore had some questions concerning their daily stock and near-by lakes. Sure enough, the cashier was quick to answer all his questions without skipping a beat. This goes for both the male and female staff. Jeffs new location is super clean and very well-organized. They offer goods and services for all sports, team sales, freshwater and saltwater fishing, shooting, hunting and more. Jeffs has a private parking lot with an entrance on Las Tunas Dr. Their staff here are friendly and take pride in their store. The old man was not approachable enough and he throw a green towel on me that he didn't apologize. However, these guys are hard to talk to when purchasing firearms. Worst service ever, called first to DROS a firearm, but after driving 45 mins to get there, the manger/owner refused to DROS. What a waste of time! There was no one at the counter, they didn't close for another 2 hours, the silliest excuse was that, "we are busy, you should have made an appointment," there was no one there, crazy!!!! If you need a FFL, avoid this place, they are not gun friendly. When you need them the most, they turn their backs on you when you need them the most. I come here for fishing gear. The people that own Jeff's and work there are really friendly. Their stuff is a tad expensive, but I don't mind supporting a local business, and it's less of a hassle than ordering online. Nice to be able to walk in someplace nearby and look at lures, rods and reels. I own guns but haven't used their services in their gun department, so I can't rate them on that. HOWEVER - from my experience in hearing some of the conversations that go on, I will say that they do seem to do well with the customers that walk in. Mostly asian guys with thick accents and loud voices, but they still are able to service them (heh heh). I'd figure that a place that has a decent selection of fishing gear and the mode to deal with less than typical firearms clients is doing well, by me. There's another section of the store that has what looks like softball/baseball stuff, but I don't go in there, since that probably means you have to be physically fit to spend money in that area. I am not, so I have not commentary about those goods. The older gentleman in there is hilarious to talk to, so just stopping in to say what's up to him is worth the trip in itself. I been searching for several months for a special revolver and no local place had it. I went to Turners for example, and spoke with them regarding procedures to transfer a revolver from an out of state vendor. They were not very friendly and said they did not like that vendor and won't do any business with them. So, I said forget it and purchase a firearm at their place Well, months passed and I still wanted the revolver and decided to go to Jeff's Sporting in my neighborhood. The last time I went there was when i purchased a high school jacket for my son. Well, as soon as I walked in, Mr Jeff (original owner) greeted me and helped me) I told him what I was looking for and he found it online in California. The cost was retail but I could not believe the customer service and all the time he put into it to find the pistol I wanted. So I purchased it.
