On January 7, 2020, my husband and I interviewed Jefi Moultrie and her partner Joe O'Meara from Compass Real Estate in La Mesa along with 3 other candidates to help us sell our 4-level townhome that we had lived in and loved for 25 years. And we wanted help in finding the perfect single-level house that we could love just as much. AND our goal was to have both of these real estate events happen simultaneously - a bit of a pipe dream some said. Well, we chose Jefi and Joe, and closed escrows on our townhome and our new dream home on the same day - February 21, a mere six weeks and four days after that interview. Jefi told us from the start, "I WILL sell your house" in response to our skepticism after an attempt in September thru November with a different realtor had been absolutely fruitless. That's the results part of Jefi - making things happen! But that is not all of who Jefi is. She listened to every single thing we said we were looking for in a realtor - really listened. And she made sure she was giving them all to us every step of the way. Communication was our most important criteria. Jefi communicated constantly in whatever format we initiated: phone call, email or text. Every question or concern was addressed immediately and every development was communicated to us in real time. She had contacts for every part of our selling and buying process. The designer she brought in to help stage the property and the painter to help get it ready to stage were great, but as it turned out they were unneeded! Jefi sold our house before it went on the MLS through her San Diego real estate agent contacts - for more than the previous realtor thought we could get and without us having to sink any money into readying it for optimum selling price. She listened to what we said about needing a loan officer that provided upfront and attentive communication. Her guy was flawless! Our buyers' escrow company did not have the paperwork ready for their signature on the day needed, so that escrow was a day late in closing which meant that to meet the date we had set up for our move, both escrows would have to close on the same day to have the proceeds from our sale available to close our purchase. Jefi cautioned that this might be very difficult to have happen in one day. She worked all day on shepherding all of this through two escrow companies and two loan companies, keeping us updated during the process. And in mid afternoon, she let us know it had all gone through and that she and Joe would meet us at our new house that evening at 6:30 to give us the keys! Jefi was respectful about what our townhome meant to us and about our fears of leaving it and having to settle for something we couldn't love. She remained positive, and we knew she was there for us no matter what happened about the timing of the selling of the old and buying of the new. Her professionalism and knowledge of San Diego area real estate is impeccable. And the way she and Joe work together is so seamless that even when one is busy you are never left hanging. To start i would say that if i could give 10 stars, i would ! What else to add ? :) When time came to contact a real estate agent, i looked on Yelp and picking up Jefi was not difficult due to the # of exceptional reviews she has on that site. Even though i sent her a message on a Sunday she responded almost immediately. When we met (with Joe O'Meara, Jefi's business partner) i let both know about my previous experience with a realtor when we bought our home, experience that was pretty negative in matter of time and process. I also let them know about my last quality "patience" ... not to say that i have none ! Ah ah. The dialogue between us was straightforward which is a something that i value. We had to work on some aspect of our home to make it valuable on the market and Jefi and her team took care of every single steps from contacting a contractor, following up on the progress, etc. Our home was put on the market a Thursday, we had an open house on Saturday the same week and an offer 10 days later. The whole process went fast, smooth and was dealt with professionalism and courtesy. What else to ask for ? Jefi Moultrie and her partner Joe O'Meara literally dropped everything to help us with our listing when our agent backed out 10 days before the house was supposed to go on the market. Our listing was complicated by the fact that, due to contractor problems with ongoing renovations, the listing date had already been pushed back to just 10 days before we were to leave on vacation. When we were suddenly left without an agent, I turned to Yelp and found both Jefi and Joe listed as 5 star agents and was impressed that they worked together, so I cold-called them that Saturday afternoon. The call to Joe rolled to voicemail, but Jefi picked up. She literally dropped what she was doing (yard work--which we had been doing, too, so I didn't want her to be dressed in business attire) and called Joe (who was in on his way to go for a run), and 30 minutes later, they were both there, ready to solve our problems. I told them about the issues we had, asked them a lot of questions, was impressed with their straightforward and insightful responses, and hired them on the spot. Because Joe was slated to leave the country on vacation a few days later, Jefi and the rest of the Jefi and Joe team did most of the legwork. We never had any regrets. We ended up using one of their contractors to finish some of the work on the house, and they, too, squeezed us into their schedule to help us out. (Admittedly, their contractors were considerably more expensive than the one's recommended by the previous agent, so it might be worth shopping around if you aren't pressed for time, but I was impressed that they could find folks on such short notice.) Jefi wasn't able to use her usual stager (who couldn't meet the timeline given the short notice) and graciously assumed the contract with the existing stager. Her office helpers (many of whose names also start with J and manage things like the contract) also went into high gear and were patient answering our many questions. The house was marketed with professional photos just 10 days later, with an open house held just two weeks from the day we contacted her. Throughout the process, despite our concerns regarding the schedule and our many questions, Jefi was not only reassuring, but she and her team also followed through on any questions or issues we had as they arose (none of her making). She also handled some unusual circumstances regarding the property deftly and with integrity. Her marketing strategy, while quite different than what our previous agent had proposed, worked amazingly well. Within three days of the open house (and less than a week after the house was marketed), we had three competing offers. This resulted in a bidding war that drove the offers significantly above the listing price, and Jefi even reached out for more information on the buyers so that we knew we were accepting the offer from the right buyer. The entire process was handled smoothly and such a relief after a disappointing experience with our previous agent (who had come recommended by several people). Once the "perfect" (for me!) home was found, I submitted completely to her expertise and followed her instructions as we wrote the offer. Her years of experience, along with her understanding of the current market and inventory in my desired neighborhood resulted in my offer being accepted over several competing offers! Throughout the escrow process, Jefi and her team continued to prove themselves to be on top of all the details, and were always available to answer my numerous questions (kuddos to Jack and Jamie).
