I have been going to Leonard Photography since 2021, I have had many sessions including 3 senior…read moresessions and I loved every minute of the session. They make you feel welcomed, if you don't like something they change it right away. They are pricey but you pay for what you get. I have one more senior "class of 2026" and I already made my appointment for the session. If you want good pictures I definitely recommend this place. Gina is very good at making things happen and works with you in every way possible for you to have the memories you want for years to come.

A lot of picture were taken and the majority of the pictures were an absolute no. I planned to spend between $200 or $300 on pictures because it is his senior year. But I just can't spend that on these pictures. The quality is just not there. I was expecting the nice tuxedo photo but he was put in a thrift store suit and regular elastic band or clip on tie. The jacket basically didn't fit. I could have done better with a background and my iPhone at home. The email I received stated if the parent is there the retouches are free. I wasn't offered retouches at all and I complained about every picture. They are ridiculously high for the quality. Even the sports pictures and regular school pictures are not good. I buy just what he needs for a memory. I will not be buying senior photos from them. I will be taking him somewhere else to have some good quality photos done.

I wish I could understand what's going on with Scott but since he won't respond to my messages,…read moreI'll have to share my most recent experience with him. I found him late in 2024. You can read my review on that encounter in my last review for him. I closed out that review by stating that I was so impressed, that I left a 24-105mm f/4.0L for him to look at. At this point, I don't even remember what was wrong with it. He worked on the lens and got it back into working condition and called me. It's 71 miles from my house to his shop. I made the drive down and in the course of conversation, Scott said that he would be more than happy to sell it for me and could get up to $400 for the lens. That particular lens was the first lens that I bought for my Canon 5D. It was my only lens for at least five years. Needless to say, I did everything with it. When I returned to my local fire department as a volunteer photographer, I added a few more lenses to my arsenal included the Mark II version of the same lens. Since I didn't need the one Scott had just repaired, I asked him to sell it for me. I didn't hear from Scott for quite a while, but the lens wasn't my priority. I do a lot of volunteer work, and I had enough equipment to keep working. I called him in April of 2025 to check status, and it hadn't sold yet. We spoke briefly about lowering the price. I told him I would take $300. I didn't hear from Scott again until August when he said he had a buyer for $275. I told him that $300 was the price that we had agreed on and he said that he would "make up the difference". I didn't fall off from the turnip truck just yesterday. I know that the difference of whatever he sold it for and what I got would be his profit. But I also know that when you are selling something on consignment, you have no right to arbitrarily lower the price without the owner's permission. His "making up the difference" meant that he made less profit. He asked when I would be driving down to pick up the check. I asked Scott to simply mail it to me. Every time, I've visited him at his place of business, I've had to call to let him know when I was close and sometimes, he wouldn't be there. I know as a single person business operation, clients need your time, meetings run long, photoshoots take longer than expected. I figured getting a check by mail would be easier for both of us. In October of 2025, I called for and left a message for an update. January 30th of this year, I called and Scott told me that I should have received the check by now and that he would have to check with his bookkeeper to find out what happened to the check. Yesterday, 3/23, left a message letting him know how disappointed I was with his lack of communication. And so here I am, dropping my five-star rating for him to one-star. Next will be the Better Business Bureau. I may never see my $300 again but I don't want to see other hard-working photographers get taken for a ride.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Nielsen Photographic was extremely…read moredisappointing. On November 15th, 2024, I brought in a Leica CL film camera that I purchased from eBay that had a broken light meter, but wanted to check if that was all it had. Scott initially seemed helpful, claiming he was certified in Leica/Minolta repairs and found that the speeds were off. He estimated a 3-5 week turnaround for the fix. That timeline quickly fell apart. By late December, I still hadn't heard anything and had to follow up multiple times--calls and texts were ignored. I only got a response after calling from an unknown number. Scott cited a family emergency and poor communication habits, then accused me of being "impatient," even though I was just asking for updates well past the promised timeline. Told me I could pick it up. I asked him to keep it as I was not impatient and just wanted the camera to be repaired. I gave him another month as he requested, but by May and June, I still had no update. My partner finally got him on the phone, and Scott admitted he couldn't get the part or repair it because he didn't have the manual. This was frustrating since I had kept the purchased camera based on his assurance that he could fix it instead of returning it to the eBay seller. Which was no longer an option. He offered to find shops who could help, but never followed through. I picked up my camera on August 1--unrepaired--and he never once provided any leads or updates. When I mentioned writing a review about my experience and how I was appalled by his lack of empathy or accountability, he finally said "sorry," but only about the "situation." Unless you already have a relationship with Scott, I wouldn't recommend using his services. The lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism was unacceptable.

They provide excellent service and gorgeous photos for incredibly reasonable prices. My husband and I first asked them to do a nice couples portrait for us on the UC Berkeley campus. We had never done any sort of portraits before (y'know, beyond those stiff, cheesy school photos back in the day), so we were a little nervous to start. Justin and his wife/assistant Dana immediately put us at ease with their friendly, professional manner. After a few shots my husband and I relaxed, and we got some wonderful photos to share as Xmas gifts (and yes, we even did some cheesy poses for fun). We came back to them a few years later for newborn photos for our first child. We arranged for them to visit us in the hospital, and I treasure those pictures above all others taken in that period. I had a difficult and unpleasant experience in the hospital (but that's for another Yelp review), but when I look at Justin's beautiful photos all I remember were the good moments, and how much Justin and Dana's calm, friendly visit cheered me up. They came to our home a few weeks later for part two of our newborn portrait package. Again, their bright manner made the afternoon special and fun. They did some lovely "candid" shots of us feeding our baby, then some more posed shots of the baby with some fun props they'd brought. As parents themselves, they know how to calmly and easily deal with a little newborn, and our little guy was as relaxed as a month-old could be. The pictures turned out AMAZING. Well, that baby is a year-and-a-half, and it's time for some family portraits. I know exactly who we're turning to!

Finally, I absolutely loved the wedding day and the proceeding wedding gallery. I would recommend this business for any wedding. I will also be using him for future photography events as well, if needed.
