The past few years have been an uncertain time in the housing market. I'm not one who typically writes reviews. Generally I write a review of a horrible experience or product and occasionally I write one due to exception service or performance. Based on all the stars, you can guess where this is headed. Jennifer Beeston is the best lender. No caveats, no qualifiers--she's the best. If you're are reading reviews you are probably undecided. If you are like me, you research stuff to get the best stuff. Sometimes even if you are doing something you just did recently. Like finding a mortgage. You may even think, "what difference does it really make--I just want the lowest interest rate." What about getting the lowest interest rate and ALL THE OTHER STUFF? The house I just sold, I was only able to buy because of Jenn. She was recommended to me by my realtor (who is also the best--thanks Stacey Mattina), and without her sage advice I probably couldn't have been able to swing it. So, when I sold this house and bought another I called up Guaranteed Rate. In the ensuing 5 years, I had maintained contact with Ms. Beeston. Why? For a couple of reasons. First she's friendly and fun to talk to, and second she knows stuff. She also knows people who know stuff she doesn't know. Not just a source of money, but a source of knowledge. So, when I needed to prequalify for a house, I called her up and had my letter in AN HOUR! I didn't have to go to some online website and key in all my information, Jenn had one of her team call me and they did all the work. While I will admit I sorta briefly pondered another realtor (thankfully I came to my senses and used Stacey at Konocti Realty), I didn't ponder cheating on Jennifer Beeston! First, if you had told me I would refi my mortgage with a mortgage company vs a solid bank, I would have said, not in a million years. So it happens that a very close friend was bragging about a rate she got from Guaranteed Rate Mortgage (could there be a more general and scary name for a company?) I did the math on the rate my friend got and was very interested. Then I went to my bank's website: nope their rate was considerably higher. I checked with my friend about closing costs and they were less than the last time I did a refi. Just to confirm all this, I called Guaranteed Rate's person, Jennifer Beeston, who actually had a physical office about five miles from my house, though they are literally all over the whole country. She was extremely bright, funny, on-the-ball, (beautiful from her on-line photo. I know, I know, this doesn't matter) and took every question I had with ease and put up with my New York skepticism about dealing with a mortgage company. I won't bore the hell out of you with the financial details except to say that I asked them to do a lot of things my bank would have said 'no way' to. Also important is the maximum efficiency of the company in general. I read their core values online and wait--they actually practice them! They set me up with the best appraiser imaginable, this in contrast to the idiot the big bank sent last time who lived 55 miles away and didn't know jack about my neighborhood. I was pleased with the huge amount of money I saved in the refi--they truly DO have the lowest rate of them all. I still can't believe it. Every single person working with Jennifer Beeston was professional and clear. My closing costs were minimal in contrast to the big bank's fees for everything. Jennifer was in contact with me even when she was on a plane to New York. My refi went through smooth as silk. If you want to save money and at the same time be treated like they actually care about you, go forward with Guaranteed Rate with no worries. Five Star service all the way. read more

I started a job at a large tech co six months prior to buying a primary residence in Manhattan, paid primarily in RSUs (deferred stock compensation). Most lenders didn't even try to understand what that was, putting me in absurd debt to income ratios, offering terrible deals. Then I found Jennifer. She was incredibly responsive, fast, very professional, always available, pushed through every issue, was clear in what to expect, and ultimately successfully closed a great deal. The list of positive adjectives can go on. There were half a dozen issues across the board for this deal and Jennifer turned them into solutions, every single time.
