Then I received a quote for my stone which was comparable with other memorials. Once I approved everything and paid they started working on my stone. It is now placed where I will be buried. I had no idea how to order a head stone and she gave no direction. I had no idea how much it cost and she smirked when I told how much I wanted to spend. I had to ask for help when looking at stones. She acted annoyed when I asked questions. At one point she raised her voice in an annoying tone at me. It's really sad because I went here because it had a good rating and great reviews. We mostly worked with Jake, who was not only pleasant and kind, but also honest and gave excellent advice. My dear father abruptly and unexpectedly passed away, leaving our family with the dreadful decision-making and planning for a funeral. Fortunately, our father always being the frugal planner, had already prepaid for my parents' plots and funeral services in 2021. Him doing so saved us over $2,000 in funeral services money (!) the price went up that much in two years. Jake was so professional in helping us with the other minor decisions such as thank you notes, paperwork etc that it was painless and seamless. I found Jake to be very warm and has such a delightful personality. I can't imagine having to work in the funeral industry or dealing with sad or upset mourners. It can be such an emotional and financially devastating time. Jake was always available when we had questions. He was so patient when he was sitting with another client, and we arrived with my dad's funeral attire. He stepped away to greet us and was beyond patient and kind while my mom showed him piece by piece what she wanted dad to wear. I had to finally intervene as the poor guy was meeting with another client. But Jake was there with a smile and was allowing us as much time as we needed to make decisions and talk with him. The funeral services were arranged so beautifully and the room for the visitation was very impressive. The facility is very large and welcoming, and peaceful. We chose to have Dad's military honors funeral in the chapel at the cemetery which was so beautiful (with the help of American Legion Post 33 Honor Guard who did a respectful tribute). Jake and his team also were diligent to help gather the cards and flowers for us and kept everything secure til we were able to collect our belongings. Our family and guests were beyond impressed with the service from Ottawa Funeral Home. Thank you Jake and staff for making things so much simpler for us.
