The "jumping station" is equipped with a high quality trampoline. You are fitted with a specially made hip-harness connected to adjustable elastics. These in turn are attached to high quality mountaineering ropes which, by way of a carabiner and pulley system are diverted over the top of the structure to a winch at the base. The participant is then lifted above the trampoline using the winch and by jumping he/she gains height. It is $10 for a single swing and the kiddies seem to absolutely love it.

I visited Humming Puppy through ClassPass and can't wait to get back. I'll get to the yoga in a second but I think it's worth mentioning all of the amenities these guys provide. Want to take a shower? They provide complimentary towels and bath products. Need to charge your phone? They've got portable chargers. Thirsty? Have some coconut water or a tea. Forgot your hair tie? They've got you covered. There's a great area outside of the studio that I could definitely see hanging out in just to avoid leaving this studio! The studio itself is a bit dark and mysterious looking, and it "hums." I took a Mellow Hum class, which was a yin-esque class where the room was heated to 27 degrees. The instructor was amazing, and the hour flew by way quicker than I wanted it to. This studio is also a 5 minute walk from the Redfern station so really easy to get to!

There's even a sweet brick laneway. Their motto is Good Spaces For Good People, and they host all sorts of stuff, from makers markets to yoga classes where a donation at the door will get you in. Check out their website for upcoming events, there's always something cool in the works. If you're looking for venue hire, or a kick-ass backdrop for your photography shoot, drop them a line. Though the website says otherwise, socks were not required (I prefer barre in bare feet when it's done on wood floor as it is here). Barre Body bills this class as "...strong and dynamic." I'd say I found that to be true. If you've done Dailey Method, Pure Barre or Bar Method, you'll feel right at home. And if you've never done barre before but have done yoga and/or pilates, you'll do fine too. This is a small studio with no lobby so you probably don't want to rock up more than 10 minutes prior to class.

It's a serene environment to work out and it's nicely located to public transport for easy access. The classes themselves are varied, with different styles and intensities available depending on your ability and mood. Like my experiences in Melbourne, the teacher at my Surry Hills class was absolutely delightful and had a terrific way of leading the class and encouraging everyone.

This place used to be a dumping ground in the old days and has been transformed into a gorgeous park. Sydney Park includes a series of visually prominent hills which provide panoramic views of the city skyline and Sydney Airport. There is a massive skate park, kids play areas and some of the heritage of this area has also been preserved nicely. Loved going here with our dog.

Sydney Park…read more Identifiable from the historical heritage listed brickworks chimneys from the days when the area used to be the brickworks for Sydney, it's a vast green area that is perfect for any recreational activity. Lovely open green areas perfect for walking the dog, and a large kids playground equipped with a large sandpit, climbing frames, swings and slides, it's got everything a kid needs to explore, play and wear themselves out. There's a challanging skate park, and a learn to ride bike area for the kids. There's also a sports oval where I believe a local Sydney grade cricket team plays during the summer months. Lush green grass is plentiful, and perfect for a picnic. Climb up the steep hills and you will find yourself with views stretching to the City and lower North Shore in the north, to the Aiport and Brighton le Sands region in the South, and on clear sunny days, free of smog and polloution you can glimpse the sprawling Blue Mountains and Great Dividing Range. Whether you're jogging or cycling through for a bit of quick fitness, or spending the day relaxing, it's a fantastic park with plenty of amenities. One downside is the toilets aren't the cleanest, and probably need more attention especially during weekend periods. There's a small cafe just outside the childrens play area which serves a good range of coffees and light meals. I'm sure in time that'll get a review on it's own. But with two young kids, it's going to be a regular destination for myself. And with walking distance to King St, Newtown, I'm sure there's plenty of opportunities for a cheeky beer or two in one of the many pubs and bars located along the strip. Or, if you're my wife, plenty of (window) shopping.

I can imagine parking might be a bit a challenge there on weekdays.
