While researching Julian staples to visit/try, I came across this restaurant and was eager to try based on the "farm-to-table" aspect and not going to lie, the food looked absolutely delicious and amazing. We were not disappointed at all. Upon arriving, there was a musician playing, and they did seat us off to the right so we could not see but could hear still. There is outdoor and indoor seating, but at the time we came it appeared that the outdoor was reserved for an event. We happily sat inside! Having met Jeremy's parents earlier in the day who also recommended his restaurant, and they were just lovely, we had hoped to possibly meet Jeremy too. I wanted to try everything, but we opt on getting a few dishes to share. Our son ordered the filet mignon and they were able to substitute mashed potatoes for fries. Amazing!! The mac & brisket appetizer appeared to be the highlight and specialty and we just had to order it. Every bite was cheeesy and delicious with the brisket very moist. We couldn't go without ordering the Brussels sprouts and it had a twist with ponzu sauce and pineapple. Definitely a different take and I thoroughly enjoyed the taste. Every bite was foodgasmic and I highly recommend!!! I knew coming here that some Yelpers have experienced wavering in quality, so glad we did not experience that at all. Im sorry to report as one who was a local for many years that I no longer can recommend Jeremy's. I had to meat loaf which was mediocre and not served piping hot. My daughter's meal was fish and chips and not that great. The prices are high. If you wanna get a steak, it will be $60, thank you. The chairs are hard and it's kind of like a regular restaurant. Yumm! Glad my guy and I decided to stop by for some dinner before heading back home. While the Winter Harvest Salad was disappointing with its minuscule amount of each ingredient, the Grass Fed Beef Applewood Bacon & Onion Burger was mouthwateringly delicious! The bacon had a perfect crisp to it and was cooked perfectly. The truffle fries were also very good, but they got old after a while. Overall 4.5 stars. We stopped here after hanging out at Fort Cross. It was fancier inside than we expected and didn't give mountain vibes so we ate outside. It was very pleasant. It's right next to the forest and trees so you can see it but covered and clean. We just got appetizers but they were awesome! We were there Saturday night thank goodness we made a reservation for 530 they literally stopped taking reservations or letting anybody in past 6 o'clock they were just that busy so we really really strongly suggest you make a reservation. The food is fantastic. I can't stress that enough. We had a little bit of everything. We enjoyed the carrot ginger soup fresh and delicious. The lobster bisque was the best I have ever had. I wanted to lick the bottom of the ball, but I didn't wanna make a fool out of myself You must have the truffle fries !! do it for you... Onto the entrées, the burgers yes they are big. They are juicy and they are spectacular. We had the blue cheese on there and it was amazing. I also had the Scottish salmon. The fillet was so big. Came here for dinner after making the dove out here to stay overnight. The restaurant only had one other couple in it when we got there but started to get packed after we left. We were seated right away and were starving! We ordered the Cremini Stuffed Mushrooms with Jarlsburg Blend Cheese, Malden Chardonnay & White Truffle Oil, the Grass-Fed Beef Applewood Bacon & Onion Burger and the Uncle Just Fried Chicken and an order of Macaroni and Cheese. The Cremini Stuffed Mushrooms were so good with such good flavor cooked in a cast iron which gave the cheese a nice crisp. The Macaroni and Cheese was so creamy and delicious. The burger patty in my burger was pretty small but it actually ended up being packed with flavor! The bacon was good perfectly and had great flavor too. The chicken sandwich was nice ans crispy with good flavor and the fires were cooked nicely and seasoned just enough with salt. I ordered a side of ranch that I dipped the fries in. Ranch Dip Score: 8.5/10 The only issue we had was that our server was very loud when she spoke to us. 5 stars... We ended the night in Julian with dinner at Jeremy, and it was the perfect finish to our evening. The staff were friendly, the space cozy with live jazz, and the food was fantastic. Our group of four ordered two salads (Julian Apple and Harvest) and four mains: Catch of the Day (salmon), Meatloaf Ball, Chicken Cordon Bleu, and Chicken Schnitzel. All were delicious, with the Cordon Bleu and salmon being our favorites. Portions were generous, and the dishes can be keto-friendly with their protein and zucchini sides. For dessert, we had the cheesecake of the day (chocolate), though the carrot cake was sold out. There's ample parking, including disabled spaces. Tried multiple times over the years since folks rave about the food, but its consistently disappointing and this last time warranted a review. Arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 4pm and sat outside on the patio. Our server (forgot her name) was extremely friendly and personable. We ordered a bottle of Viognier from a local winery. The wine came out and was dark yellow with slimy sediment, not a crisp/clear Viognier. It was old or not stored properly, it was terrible. We each had one sip and that was enough. At the same time our deviled eggs (the special) came out. Inedible, disgusting presentation and horrible flavor. The 'bacon jam' was close to mushy spam TERRIBLE. Our server came back asking how everything was. We relayed the experience and asked for our bill as we were going to leave. She removed the almost full plate of eggs and returned with our bill. We ate 2 out of the 6 eggs and didn't drink any of the wine. Our bill was in full, even after our conversation about the eggs and the full bottle remaining of wine. We just paid/tipped and walked out. $70 later we walked across the street and had better wine, a great pizza, and delicious salad. So sad since restaurants in the area are scarce. read more

We decided to go on a Thanksgiving day road trip to Julian. Why not? Most of the town was closed, but Jeremy's was open. They were ready for Thanksgiving and had a limited menu with fixed prices. But we were allowed to order apps, which worked out perfectly. Let's start with their fabulous outdoor patio. We're always with a dog, so pet-friendly is key, but the covered patio has a much warmer feel than most. We'd sit there without the dog. Came here on a Friday. It was slower and quieter day to be in Julian. We ordered the chicken schnitzel and fried chicken which was the special of the day. It comes with a free pint of draft beer as well! The food was delicious and great portion size. The sides were amazing as well. The meal came with mashed, braised cabbage and butternut squash/ kale salad. Definitely the best meal we've had for a long time (we live in downtown and surrounded with great food.) Fresh bread is always a win. The salad was also fresh with seasonal ingredients. My one complaint is that the sauces came in PLASTIC ramekins. The restaurant had a 4.6 rating on Google which attracted us to it. Furthermore, their menu cover indicated that the chef was a Le Cordon Bleu graduate which gave us an overinflated sense of excitement and expectation. The restaurant was quaint with low ceilings and simple, but cozy furnishings. The low ceiling fostered a louder atmosphere making any meaningful conversations difficult. Our waitress was sweet and friendly, but became less attentive the busier she got. The food was "rosemary" forward. I'll explain but first, let me tell you about the dish I thought was delicious. Their lobster bisque appetizer was well balanced. It was creamy, deeply savory with a prominent lobster flavor. Now back to the rosemary...we ordered their French bread and butter. The inside was fluffy while the outside was crunchy. Nice textural contrast. The bread was sprinkled with rosemary and there was settled rosemary in the melted butter. Not a terrible start, but it was too much rosemary for us. For our entrees we ordered, ribeye with potatoes and veggies, filet with potatoes and veggies as well as the chicken finger and fries. The ribeye was unmemorable and the filet had more sinew than one would expect in a filet. The steaks were seasoned and topped with a rosemary sprig. That incessant rosemary leaves an impression on your palette. My filet was placed on top of my mashed potatoes which rendered them moist from the steak juices. On the other entree, the mashed potatoes were off to the side and they were gummy and dry. The veggie side was flavorful, but very oily. My daughter said her chicken tenders were overcooked and complained that her fries tasted of rosemary. For dessert, we ordered their cast iron apple cobbler. Sadly, this was the most disappointing of all. The crumble top was too hard, the dish was too large and the apples were vapid. It lacked depth of flavor and that feeling of comfort that one associates with such dish. Additionally, I ordered a cup of coffee to accompany the dessert and my cup was served with a beautiful ring of lipstick. First place to ever serve me one this way and I've eaten at some mediocre joints. We paid $300+ with tip and we left feeling unsatisfied. The restaurant benefits from being one of the few "high end" establishments in the area, but set them side to side with comparable places and it fails to measure up. read more

Jeremy's didn't quite hit the mark. Went for family dinner yesterday. The place is small but has a formal ambience. Front house staff were pleasant and attentive. Kitchen...well address later. Food: The appetizers - The cremini stuffed mushrooms were great!! The Teriyaki Ribeye bites And roasted pineapple were good. The Pulled pork Mac and cheese was a fail due to the pork itself. Unfortunately, they use a lot of cumin in the pork which offsets the homestyle combination of Mac and cheese with bbq sauce. The steaks- Really good cuts of meat. I had the ribeye, and my wife had the Filet. They were plated very nice. The flavor was there. However.. My wife ordered hers medium, it came medium rare. No bother to us, we just asked to fire it a little more. My ribeye was ordered medium rare, and came rare in the center, again no problem just sent it to be fired a little more. We did not ask for new steaks just some additional cook time. For context we were the only customers in the restaurant so it wasn't slammed. Well the walls are thin and the kitchen staff let us know they were not happy. The head cook was yelling about how "one person has a f@&king issue then they all have a f@&king issue". Then proceeds to yell and cuss how his steaks are perfect. With a place listed as upscale dining, the professionalism needs to come up. When I let our server know I heard him, she apologized greatly and provided a 5% discount on the bill. We paid our $200 bill, and left the front staff their 20% (it wasn't their fault) I would have left 1 star, but the front staff's efforts brought it up. read more

We were very happy to stumble upon this restaurant before heading to our nearby campsite for the weekend! It appears to be converted from a home and has such cute and homey vibes to it. We started with some apple cider and the Brussels sprouts appetizer. Delicious and well seasoned. I ordered fish and chips. They were perfectly crispy and the halibut was really tender. There wasn't a whole lot of flavor to the breading, it could have used a bit more. However, it was cooked perfectly and didn't sit too heavy. That was the best meal I've had in a long time! I got the special coconut halibut over greens, candied walnuts, avocado, and strawberries. It was the perfect season for it; the produce was sweet and crisp. The halibut was cooked perfectly! I devoured the whole thing. My husband had the meatloaf after hearing it described to him by the waitress. It was incredible! We need to figure out how to cook that cabbage; it didn't taste like cabbage at all. It was so sweet and yummy. Braised maybe? I also had an apple cider mule which was delish. They sprinkle cinnamon on top. Delightfully fresh! The weather was perfect, we sat outside under the oak tree and had a lovely breeze. The jazzy music was a nice touch. It was an incredibly pleasant experience. Planned a day trip to Julian and found this gem on Yelp. We were really excited to try it for lunch since there were so many great reviews. If you do get a chance to stop here, do it! You won't be disappointed! The restaurant has a cute ambiance as it's in a cozy home. There is inside dining, a few seats at the bar, and a covered outside patio area. This trip we shared Brussel sprouts, Brisket Mac n cheese, and the Fried Chicken sandwich. Brussel sprouts and the Brisket Mac n cheese are a must try! The best I've ever had. I wanted to treat my husband to a nice birthday steak dinner in Julian. The only place I could find online that sounded like a quality establishment was Jeremy's. We arrived at 6pm on a Monday. As we were seated we were told by the no eye contact busy waitress "we're out of steak and mussels." So that ruled out my purpose for bringing my husband here and it now deleted quite a few dishes on this small menu. We decided to stay and I quickly realized this place was far from fine dining. The ambiance felt like a once small house converted into a poorly decorated restaurant. As I looked around, 90% of the patrons were in jeans and sweatshirts. We were seated in front of a wall decorated with three wood handled cutting boards hanging on the wall, each one with a book mounted in the center. Pretty ugly and just plain odd. The $5 bread was delicious, with a firm outer crust and soft center. The mark of a good restaurant is the olive oil especially if the customer is paying for the one ounce served. It truly missed the mark --light and flavorless. The lobster bisque could have had a better balance of sherry and it would have been great if I could have had at least one small morsel of lobster instead of zilch for $10. The red pepper soup was unique and worth it though. My husband ordered the $20 burger which he said was cooked perfectly, juicy and delicious. His unfortunate experience was that he couldn't eat the garlic fries because they were over salted. I tasted and completely agreed. My chicken schnitzel was so disappointing for $27. Don't waste your $$! The mashed potatoes and cabbage were good, but the "chef vegetables" and the chicken were a disaster. The kale and butternut squash were served puddled in grease. Sadly the oil it was fried in ruined the flavor. Gordon Ramsey would have given the chef a slap on the wrist for this. The chicken looked and tasted like it came out of a frozen box of premade breaded chicken. This would have gotten the chef a slap on the cheek. The worst part of the entire dish was the caper, lemon butter sauce. It looked like they took a 1/2 stick of melted butter and poured it into the dish, then tossed in two capers. Yes, that's all I got! Imagine eating a dish dunked in oil and butter. I think Ramsey would have tossed the entire dish over the chef's head just to show you never serve that much grease to a patron. My husband looked at my dish and agreed. When you look at the picture I posted, look at all the butter! The marketing of the photos on their website is professional and beautiful. Just be prepared that in person dining is a very different story. This experience illustrated that if you want a nice, quality dinner, be prepared: you may not get it consistently here. read more

It was disheartening to find out that when my husband wanted to order a ribeye steak, we were told it wasn't on the menu, yet we saw a server bring out a ribeye steak to a customer who came after we did. We drove three hours to have our last meal here since Jeremy will be closing in a few days and open a new restaurant in Santa Mónica. This is very sad. We came out to support a local business and yet, we were treated like we didn't matter. We will make sure to not go to your new business. I guess these last few days are for "locals" only, huh? For main course I split the brisket Mac n cheese and the chicken schnitzel. The Mac n cheese was to die for- so creamy and with the combination of the bbq meat on top it was perfect. The schnitzel was perfectly seasoned. Their drinks were also great and they had a good selection of beers on tap. We finally visited Jeremy's on the Hill for the first time to celebrate Valentie's Day early! I cannot believe I've slept on this place for so long. Located in Wynola, a lovely hamlet just west of Julian, California. The building from the outside is rather unremarkable. Inside is such a charming restaurant with a cozy yet modern vibe. I thought we were back in the UK when we were served water in pint glasses with no ice! That's ok though, I was having beer and wine; the water just gets in the way. Service overall seemed thoughtful and genuine, although somewhat green. Before going to any new restaurant I always study their menu thoroughly in advance. Usually I know what I'm going to order before getting there. I noticed an appetizer called "Mac & Brisket" that I was looking forward to enjoying. House made pepper jack bechamel with braised pulled pork and house BBQ sauce drizz. The dish was beautifully presented and looked tasty. Unfortunately it was barely just lukewarm throughout. Despite being served in a baking dish, I doubt this ever saw the inside of an oven. It could have been so much better by simply baking it off. I will say the bechamel was outstanding. Married in a perfect creamy way with the macaroni noodles and not all soupy. For my main I ordered the "50/50 Bison Meatloaf". Grass fed bison-ground beef topped with Manchego cheese and pork brisket. Comes with Yukon whipped potatoes, braised red cabbage and chef's mixed veg. The first thing I noticed was the terrible presentation. Looked as if there was not enough binding agent in the loaf; it was just a crumbled mess really. I will say though it tasted delicious! Great earthy flavors and mouthfeel. The Manchego cheese and brisket top was mostly indiscernible. I couldn't tell if it was there, much less taste it. Calling the potatoes "whipped" is really a misnomer. The texture was quite coarse and rustic. Still tasty nonetheless. Creme Brûlée was artfully presented and tasted good. We really enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning to try some other things. Recommended if you've never been. read more

11/2025: Was actually refused serviced here with my family - party of 6. Host told us they were at FULL capacity and was not able to accommodate us. However, another person walked in and asked if they could accommodate his party that had a dog (not even a service animal). The host immediately made accommodations for this person and their dog to eat inside the restaurant, as long as they sat somewhere in the corner! I have never been so appalled in my life. I never thought stories like this would exist in Southern California in the year 2025, but with the current political climate, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.. Lunch at Jeremy's on the Hill. First of all, shout out to our server Emily A. She was super friendly, professional and attentive. My partner had a special request at the start of the dining and she made it happened. Emily made this dining experience very memorable. Five stars! Onto the food now. Starter: - fried coconut shrimp with sweet and sour sauce was good. Couldn't taste coconut much but the shrimp was cooked well. Mains: - I initially ordered chef recommended salmon dish. Unfortunately, salmon belly poke wasn't prepared well. It didn't taste right and some chopped pieces of the fish were very chewy and not pleasant to eat. However, overall combination of ingredients sounded good. Thanks to Emily I managed to swap this dish for 50/50 bison meatloaf. - bison meatloaf was a success. The meatloaf was not dry, it was nicely seasoned and paired very well with braised red cabbage, whipped potatoes, carrots and pork jus. - half pound burger with applewood bacon and onions was enjoyable too. The fries that came with the burger were nice and crispy. Dessert - cast iron apple cobbler was very good. Prepared with cinnamon, German crumble top, vanilla bean ice cream, and served warm. Every time I go to Julian, it's fun but I have the worst food. Best pie, but worst food. And then I found Jeremy's on the Hill. What a treat! I've eaten here a few times and also have had their catering. Ever single time I've been super impressed with their food. This past time was no different. My husband and I split the Julian Apple Salad and the Bacon & Onion Burger. My sister-in-law got the pulled pork sandwich, and my brother got the California Sunshine Burger. Everyone loved their food. I can't remember all the other things I've tried in the past, but I do know I've loved every meal I've eaten here. They also made the chicken and waffles at my friends wedding, and it was one of my favorite meals I've ever eaten at any wedding. We came in the day after Christmas and the place was crazy busy. There was only one waitress. She was hustling her hardest, and for being the only waitress, the service was great. She didn't have time to refill our drinks or anything but I want to remind Yelp that Julian the surroundings areas are not set up for huge groups of people! It's a little mountain town. If you can't wait for your food, please drive into San Diego and go to a fast food restaurant. If you're coming to Julian, you're going to have to wait if it's during their busy season. Visit: Saturday 9/16/23 Around 11:30 AM We definitely enjoyed our time here. We got here right after opening, as we Finished our 30 minutes at Sky Sailing (we went on a two passenger glider ride). We luckily parked right in the shade next to handicapped parking. We considered sitting outside, but figured it would get too hot and chose inside. The restaurant also does take reservations, so I would highly recommend that you do that if you go during a popular rush time for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I loved the design inside and outside! Outside, you have a fountain along with seating, in what feels like a mystical outdoor garden. Inside, you get the farmhouse feel. I am a HUGE fan of blue, so it was totally my vibe with all the walls being painted blue, including the AC units. In the background, they had some light cozy music playing. I got their local apple cider which was delicious! Not too sweet or too appley. Later on the receipt, I saw they notated orange, so I'm guessing they might have intermixed with some other fruit from whomever they got it from. My husband got something off of the tap which he said tastes similar to blue moon. Since the tap changes, they're not listed on the menu. As I did get off a glider ride and I had brought back a "trophy" on the way down, I needed some carbs. I ordered the Uncle J's Fried Chicken, changing my fries for the house salad - as recently I'm working on adjusting my diet for healthier options. The substitution was ~$4. That half of the fried chicken sandwich revived me back from my low energy stage. I like the combination of the fried chicken with the barbeque sauce and the provolone cheese with bacon and apple aioli. I gave the other half to my husband but finished the rest of my salad. Their house salad that they gave was very addicting. Each bite I took, I couldn't help but take more. L, my husband, ordered the half pound grass fed beef applewood bacon & onion burger. He got it with the garlic herb fries which I definitely took a few pieces of, and it was so good! He asked for it medium rare, which is how he got it. He was surprised as other restaurants normally 95% of the time never get it right. We both completely wiped out our meals together, and we were quite pleased with the meal we had. As we had gone early, I believe we were the 2nd group of patrons there, we got our drinks and food quite quickly. We would not mind coming back! I am quite curious about the bison meatloaf which I read was a staple to get. The only downside which I think is minor, was just that they had one bathroom for everyone's use. We went when it wasn't super crowded, so we didn't have any problems. But when we left, it was busy outside with people in the outside seating area. read more

This place is close to our kids who live on Julian, and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and service! I had a lamb dish that was to die for! I highly recommend Jeremy's! read more
