I was intrigued by their menu and image and resolved to try them soon. I will definitely be back! I've had a hard time finding a go-to spot in Scottsboro but I think my search is over. They have adorable signage and decor and lots of cute little gifts to peruse while you wait for your food. Service was so nice and patient and helped me learn the ropes during my visit. They have a focused menu of sandwiches and also offer a cookie of the day or soft serve ice cream for dessert. The atmosphere felt super inviting as they let me eat my sandwich and hang out before paying, which I find is uncommon but nice at an order at the counter place like this. Jt felt like they wanted me to be there, which was nice. It's quiet inside and I could see myself writing or reading here. They were kind enough to bring my meal to me and even bus my table, which was not expected but definitely appreciated. I had kettle chips and a canned drink to complete my meal. This sandwich was SO GOOD. The bread was soft and slightly chewy. The turkey had absolutely no funk or sliminess, just tasty, slightly thickly cut slices of meat that paired perfectly with the smoky strips of bacon. The spicy aioli was addictive and even though the sandwich was served cold (my preference), the Gouda had a rich, melty quality that melded things together perfectly. I LOVED this sandwich. I grabbed a cookie of the day (biscoff) on my way out. This wasn't quite a 5/5 cookie (it was a little on the dry/crunchy side for me), but I still enjoyed it. The Copper Penny was our choice! Be warned, parking is pretty limited. But it's so worth a visit! They have lunch specials that come with a 1/2 sandwich and soup, though the sandwich choices are somewhat pared down compared to the main menu. The inside is airy and bright and the furniture is comfortable. You order at the counter. Staff was incredibly personable. The man who helped us later shared he was the owner's son. He welcomed everyone with genuine warmth and was eager to answer any and all questions people had. Our food came out in a reasonable time but there was a slight wait - though the apparent freshness made that more than worthwhile. My dad ordered a full Reuben sandwich; mom and I both chose the 1/2 sandwich and soup special. She got chicken salad and I got a grilled cheese. Both of us selected the red pepper soup. They have canned soda, which is what my dad got. For me, this was the only thing that was a *little* flat (I thought it was a little closer to a torte than a cheesecake and wished it had been a tiny bit fluffier), but the flavors were nice and my parents really enjoyed it. I got a peanut butter cupcake to take home for later and it fully redeemed their baked goods; it was delightfully moist, good icing to cake ratio, and bursting with PB flavor! I am not a huge cupcake girl and I could've eaten a dozen of these, lol. I hear tell they have a new, second location that opened in Fort Payne. Either spot, I'm sure, is outstanding.
