Not sure if the crew was changed or the team just hates working here now. I'll have to change where I buy my sandwich's now because it seems that every time I order here something is always wrong. I order via app and always pick up. Nothing is ever right. Just now I ordered before arriving and was never told when my order was ready. I had to keep asking and just for them to say "oh lol" it's been ready. I wasn't given napkins nor the sauces and some of my toppings are missing... Horrible service. During the end of COVID when masks were no longer mandatory, Jersey mikes decided to keep them mandatory. We had no knowledge till we were next in line. The employees were very rude. Regardless we took the masks and put them on. We placed our order and waited for 30 min. We continued asking what was going on with our order as I noticed people who were behind us were getting their orders. Turned out that our order was missing "coincidentally". The employees were young guys and apparently messing with us. Extremely unprofessional. Never going back. In the end we had to ask for our money back and left empty handed. Huge problem when ordering on-line. The sandwiches are great -- good ingredients, properly prepared -- but the on-line ordering system (app or website) is hopelessly useless, at least as implemented at this location. I've routinely placed an on-line order in advance (30 minutes to an hour), gotten to the store at the appointed time, then had to stand there and watch nearly a dozen folks walk in, order their sandwiches, receive their food, and walk out... all before my order comes up, sometimes more than 30 minutes late. Seriously? What in the world is the point of ordering in advance? Every other establishment knows how to prioritize folks who order well in advance, over walk-ins. This is not rocket science in the restaurant biz. But I'm sorry to say that this place is totally incompetent when it comes to handling this core aspect of their food service. read more

The online ordering process seems pretty broken. The app will always advises me that my order will be ready in 15-20 minutes even though it's the lunch rush, and when I get I still end up having to wait a significant chunk of time for the order to be ready. The last time I ordered here, I got into the store almost 10 minutes after the designated pick up time, and still literally watched people walk into the store, wait in line, order, pay and receive their food before they even started to assemble my order. A large crowd of about 15-20 people were just standing around waiting for their online orders, packed into this tiny space, while the physical line had 5 or fewer people in it, and the line orders were still seemingly being prioritized. Only after the lunch rush line largely disappeared did the online orders start getting fulfilled. Employees looked stressed and actively avoid making eye contact or dealing with online order inquiries. Seems like a straightforward management issue. The prep line needs to learn how to weave online orders here and there into the workflow, but there doesn't seem to be anyone responsible for managing that or even a coherent policy for employees to follow. read more

This branch is quite excellent. I've been having delivery during this rather insane time we're all living through. Last time, I ordered two sandwiches, the regular size - one for lunch, one for dinner. The lunch was the Philly cheesesteak and I must say it was rather surprisingly good. I'll start by saying Jersey Mike's is my favorite chain sub place. There's something about getting it Mike's way that can't be beat. I usually get the club sub, Italian or stickball special. This location is hit or miss, depending on who's working. They occasionally get my order wrong if I order through the app. Also, I really wish they offered an olive spread or at least black olives! Ordered a big chicken kahuna with bacon..checked my sandwich because i knew the guy didn't add bacon(i was watching) told the cashier Leonard who proceeded to tell me it was an additional charge..yes I know this but ok..I'd still like bacon..he then instead of apologizing and offering to fix my sandwich grabbed two slices of bacon in the same hand as he's using to ring me up to hand me to put on my sandwich..are you serious? I refused the hand held bacon..i should've left the entire sandwich just on the poor customer service alone..however i was hungry and had already been in line for 10 mins just to order..and an additional 7-10 after ordering. One word: JACOB. Jacob is one of the employees at this location, and he's absolutely the reason I'm coming back. He was warm, friendly, inviting, funny, and professional. He made suggestions I never would have even considered, and it worked out wonderfully. I'm sure the management knows how special this employee is, and I hope the best for him. This location is THE BEST! I am a vegetarian and the last 2 times I've come, the employees changed their gloves to make my sandwich and used a fresh knife to cut it without me even asking!! If you know, you know. This place is a complete Circus , The employees here all over the place. They had a woman outside by the line taking orders which I thought was actually great at first until I guess her favorite customer walked in behind me and took her order and began making her sandwich right away, not to mention she was so focused on her sandwich and her presence that my entire sandwich was made incorrectly! Today I ordered for pickup and it said the sandwich would be ready in 10-20 minutes. I got there 20 minutes after I put my order in and many people were waiting on their orders. They said give them another 10-15 minutes. After 15 more minutes, my order wax still not ready yet people who had walked in and ordered after I arrived had already received their orders. I asked why when I ordered 40-45 minutes ago, that I still don't have my order and walk-ins are getting their orders before mine. No manager available and they wouldn't cancel my order. I had to contact the app and my credit card to get a refund. One guy was waiting an hour. This is unacceptable. I wouldn't have put in an order with them if they initially said 45min-1 hour wait. I was reminded today why I never go to Jersey Mike's. The service is subpar and the measures of cleanliness the staff is taking is simply unacceptable. They place the sandwiches straight onto the counter while building them rather than placing the paper underneath. I asked if they can please place the paper down and the employee mumbled and pointed down the counter saying she can do it once it goes there. This should be standard practice - not just during COVID but all the time. It's a simple measure to take that can possibly prevent unwanted bacteria and germs touching your sandwich. Been there several times after, but haven't been there is a few months, down know what happened, all new staff, no energy or smiles or the flare that the other teams had. Me and the guy behind me both ordered roast beef, I had the regular size and he had the smallest sandwich, I watched as the girl behind the counter cut more meat on his sandwich then mine??? I haven't given a Yelp review in years but my experience at this location is such a consistent dumpster fire that I felt the need to share with this now being the third and final straw for me. Big Jersey Mike's fan here. The location near my former home in Westwood was clean, fast, friendly, and consistently good. I moved to the area recently, have given them multiple chances, and let's just say I'm shocked by comparison that Jersey Mike's corporate hasn't stepped in to hold the Van Nuys location franchise owner to accountable. Every time I come here the place is filthy, most of the staff is congregating in the back, and when they begrudgingly saunter back up to the front to provide service the entire operation is a disaster. No one knows their role, follows any semblance of a proper procedure, or exhibits any sort of proactive thinking. I don't if they're just bad at hiring, but these people either have zero self awareness or plainly don't care. I think it's both. Today alone i watched multiple people leave the line and exit the store because of how long they were taking to make sandwiches. One of the people on staff thinks it's funny to yell "Welcome" and "Have a nice day!" loudly whenever the door opens, and doesn't even pause it when it's angry lost customers existing who are dumb founded they would do this even when losing business. The girl making my sandwich got into a dispute with the register girl about how much meat goes on the sandwich with register girl saying management told her how much to put on and sandwich girl arguing with her based off stuff the other bozo's in the back ruining the place told her. They get to the final part of the sandwich and realize theres no bacon, so they say they need to make it AND THEN DON'T EVEN LIFT A FINGER TO MAKE THE BACon FOR ANOTHER 3 MINUTES AS I WATCHED IN DISBELIEF. Mind you, I asked for the bread to be toasted on my #8 at the start of this entire thing so any forward thinking employee would register "he's gonna need bacon, lets get these going too" from the start. After waiting enough time that the entire line behind me was now out of the store, my sandwich sat there while no one bothered to even wrap it up, and the last guy who was making the sandwich and knew the only thing I needed left was bacon just stared at it wondering whether it was done, I reminded him it was. Then they proceeded to play hot potato and hand it around to 3 different people confused wondering if it was for the guy who just came in for his mobile order before I said "Yes. Thats mine. The one I've been standing here waiting for since we spoke moments ago." Im actually shocked I took the time to type this up. This place is a complete mess. The employee's are inept. And whoever owns it should fire everyone and start over... or maybe care enough to even recognize how bad it is compared to literally every other location. A friend actually joked with me recently about how this location was so bad he told the employees to do better before he left the last time he was there. I kind of agreed but figured I'd give it one last shot. Lesson learned. read more
