My boyfriend and I visited last weekend and it was such a wonderful experience. Jim, our guide was very informative and nice. Most of the alpacas do not want to be touched, so we take photos around them hoping they look at the camera haha. So if you plan on bringing children ( highly recommend) know that the alpacas can get scared at quick movement or if they are touched. We got our photos and a lot of answered questions about the farm. They book up fast, plan ahead online if you want to schedule a tour. It is free and so fun for everyone. Tish, one of the owners, was an amazing guide through this whole experience! The reservations are necessary as your group will be the only group that meets with the Alpacas. There is parking right at the edge of their gate to the Alpaca farm, and it fits 2 spots so plan to carpool if you are going with a group. You start off with a big baggie of carrots to be shared amongst the male and female aplacas, meeting the males alpacas first and then the females. They are excited about the carrots but are very friendly! They will walk you through techniques in feeding, how to fit in a quick pet, and help you take cute photos. Tish also has a great selfie tip with luring the Alpacas with a carrot to get them picture perfect. The reservation ends with a browse through the gift shop they built with all things Alpaca, including a few items made by Tish! Tish and her husband are the only 2 who own and manage their farm, and their hardwork and dedication to the Alpacas and to make this an enjoyable experience for everyone is noticable and highly appreciated! I have a special place in my heart for Jersey Shore Alpacas. This is our second time here, first being pre-pandemic when my kiddos were younger. Both times, we all had so much fun. Jim and Tish are good people that really are good at reading people and making sure everyone in the group gets attention, education, and fun out of the experience at their alpaca farm. The size of their herd has downsized (due to age of their pack), but that didn't stop us from meeting some very cute and cuddly alpacas. Carrots were provided (plus!) and I loved going into their alpaca farm store and seeing the things you could buy (for all ages btw) Def recommend a visit here if you're in the area. Let's bring this one up to the current. So what's changed? Well, if the pandemic was good for anything it meant that paying a visit here now requires a reservation instead of the cattle call of years prior where you could have XYZ tons of people showing up especially in season. If you go to their website everything is spelled out perfectly. There are two different experiences. Three days during the week they do mingling tours where you are taken in with the creatures and on Saturdays they do a fence line feeding session. Note a few things: We booked our Saturday time last second but it was also mid-June and there was a threat of rain that thankfully never came. Times are released a week in advance. The weekday mingling sessions book up a few weeks in advance so don't think you're just going to show up and book it last minute. Read up and you'll be ready on where they are, what to look for (two small orange cones denote their driveway) and to stay in your car until someone checks you in. The Saturday fence feedings are free and they do provide you with free carrots to feed the alpacas with. No, this is not BYO carrots or anything else. They've got you covered. There are donation containers on the fence line and in the gift shop. The gift shop also has a good array of products which are made from the wool. The products mean nothing to me but my old lady more than took care of her "quota" and mine. I'll paraphrase the same question I asked six years ago...what do alpacas and South Jersey have in common? Nothing. Should this work as well as it does? HEARTS HEARTS HEARTS. This place absolutely earns its five stars and more. We wanted to come for a private tour, but it was too last-minute and we weren't able to get a spot. We decided to brave the public weekend hours, expecting a swarm of people and not much one-on-one time with the alpacas and guides. Welp, we were wrong. There were only a few people when we arrived at around 1. Admission is free and they actually give you a bag of carrots. We were able to meander between the pens, learn fun alpaca facts from Jim (one of the owners), feed them carrots (their eager eating is so freaking adorable), pet their soft fluffy heads and necks, and get all our pics and videos in. I loved getting to know so many of these fluffers, like Thunder and his buddy Tanzanite (Thunder is blind and Tanzanite took it upon himself to be his friend and caretaker of sorts), General Patton, Panda, Annabel, Maybelline (she's a spitter), Lightning, Michaela, Sera, Zelda, and Princess Leia. They each have very distinguishable personalities, and the guides gave us the inside scoop on their relationships. By the way, they spit when they get in close proximity, especially when they get competitive over food, so try to keep 'em spaced out and break those carrots up so there's no jealousy or fighting. We also spent a lot of time in the shop. They have so many fluffy, adorable alpaca toys, as well as winter wear, yarns, and more. We spent more time and money there than we probably should have, but it was worth it, and Tish, the other owner, was so knowledgeable and helpful. Highlight of our trip to Cape May! I booked a public tour for our group of 6 and we had a great time petting and feeding the alpacas. Jim, who served as our guide, was extremely friendly and answered all our questions about the animals. My husband made a reservation for us to go see some alpacas at Jersey Shore Alpacas last minute and there was almost no available time slot left on their website, except for one at 10:00 am. He immediately snagged it. As we later found out from a staff member, the farm has been extremely busy due to COVID. Visiting alpacas is an outdoorsy activity, so they have been getting a large amount of visitors. At the moment, the farm is only open on Saturdays. You absolutely have to make an online reservation ahead of time as they are currently not accommodating walk-ins. Jersey Shore Alpacas is a small family operation, and the location could be difficult to find; however, the owners provided very clear and detailed directions in an email that was automatically sent, when we booked our reservation. There is no entrance fee, but they do accept donations. There is also a gift shop inside where you can contribute some funds to. COVID safety guidelines were properly enforced. When we arrived, we were instructed to wash our hands at the front. This also allows you wash off any hand sanitizer that might be sensitive to the alpacas. There is also a portapotty available on site, and is very clean. Our tour was limited to walking along the fence. Any interaction you have with the alpacas is from outside the fence, but you can still get pretty close. There are 17 alpacas on site, and they are very cute and super soft to pet. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and nice. She gave us little bags of prepackaged sliced carrots so we can feed the alpacas. Try to arrive on time, as every group is allocated a 30 minute slot. If you arrive late, it will cut into your time with the alpacas. read more

As soon as we pulled up we were greeted by our guide, a nice women, and she told us where to park. She was very nice the entire time and throughly explained the rules and safety things to us and our kids. We were able to feed all the alpacas and pose for photo opts. The public hours are limited to Saturdays, but private events/ tours are offered. Saturday tours are run by the husband and wife who actually own the place. They're super informative, and their love for the animals really shows. Entry is free, donations welcome. After a quick informational session, JSA provides carrots to feed to the Alpacas. My BFF and I had the most enjoyable experience this summer bringing our grandchildren to the Alpaca Farm for something to do starting from being met in the parking lot with instructions on what I call "How to Play Today." From Where to Park, where we would enter the farm, where to wait for the owner at the bench provided where we would start receiving an introduction and a bag of carrots, to then being instructed on how we would follow her along the well thought out corralled gated pathways along our Alpaca interaction tour where we were instructed how to interact with the Alpacas. First allowing only one Alpaca "The Welcome Committee, Greeter" behind a fence to come out of the barn and say hello. The owner then proceeded to show us how she fed the Alpaca and asked us if we were comfortable to try and feed the Alpaca ourselves. We each took a turn and had a wonderful time. Then we were taken to the next phase into the next gated area where a few Alpacas were allowed in with us a d we were taught how to use the Stop hand signal with one hand while hiding our bag of carrots behind our back with the other to communicate to the Alpaca no more carrots from me so we were not overwhelmed by all of them at us. Then the next phase was seeing the next group putting and ending at the gift shop. The owner was so patient, kind, informative, and friendly. I highly recommend visiting The Farm to learn about Alpacas and interact with these adorable animals. It's a very organized, clean and enjoyable experience! My girlfriend from Florida has been obsessed with alpacas for quite awhile now. We were planning to take a trip down to Cape May and Atlantic City with my sister and I came across this place. I decided to surprise her with this visit and couldn't be happier that it went as well as it did. ****NOTE: If you want to go inside the gate and see the alpacas, you need to set up a private appointment which normally lasts an hour**** I emailed Tish (the owner) in November wanting to set up a private visit to see the alpacas since they're normally closed on weekdays. Tish was more than helpful with setting this up for me and we booked it for December 29. A few days prior to that she emailed me to confirm and give me directions which was very nice of her. When we got there, she met us out front and led us to where the alpacas stayed. The males and females were separated. Tish was very knowledgeable about the animals and told us a lot about them. It was very interesting learning about all of them and their different personalities. They each had very creative names, like Maybelline (because of dark circles around her eyes which looks like eyeliner), Chenel No. 5 (Probably my favorite name out of all of them because it's adorable), Panda Man (panda eyes lol), and just so many more. Some of them are friendly and will let you pet them, others aren't and walk away. Tish gave us each a bag of carrots to feed them which was so much fun. We went inside and the alpacas were going crazy over the carrots. We got many pictures with them and they are all so funny to look at. My sister and girlfriend each brought a selfie stick with them and the alpacas were so intrigued by it that they all stood together staring at it. That got us such great opportunities to take pictures with all of them huddled up so definitely bring a selfie stick if you have one! They do tend to spit once in awhile, but Tish told us that's more of a warning to the other alpacas (fun fact!). After the hour inside the gate with them, we went into the shop and watched a video of one of the younger alpaca's first day. It was absolutely adorable. Such a great place to visit. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves animals -- solo travelers, couples, and of course, families with children! First of all, it's free. The owners are wonderful for offering the experience at no cost so please make sure you leave something in the donation box!!! I was given a great tour by Tish, one of the owners. She was really sweet and informative! She told me all the names of the alpacas as well as some background info. She gave me a large bag of carrot sticks to feed to them. It was a hot day and she had water set out for the visitors. The alpacas are goofy and adorable. They are very well taken care of and you can tell the owners are passionate about their herd. There's also a small gift shop with various items made of alpaca fleece - gloves, hats, sweaters, souvenirs, etc. Hours are 10-4pm on select days. Best thing to do is to check their Facebook page for changing hours (remember, it's a family operation). FYI - the farm is in the back of a house. Im a 21 year old with two "over the hill" parents and we had a fun time at the alpaca farm! You just walk up to the gate and we were greeted by a sweet woman who explained some things and gave us a bag of carrots each to feed the alpacas. There is a donation box right on the gate which you should definitely donate if you can! The males are on one side and the females are on another and they come up to eat the carrots. You can also pet their heads and necks. We took so many selfies and pictures to document the moment! It's definitely a fun experience and we learned a lot about alpacas. They also have a store which is under the porch filled with alpaca goods such as clothes and stuffed animals. We didn't buy anything but it was a nice way to cool off after being with the alpacas. My gf and I were heading to Cape May for a couple of days and decided to give this a shot before heading to Cape May Zoo. I emailed with them and set up a time since they are only open to the public on certain days. The farm is behind a residential house and the farm was a nice size full of alpacas. The owner was really nice and talked to us about them in general and the ones he had along with their personalities. We were given carrots to feed them and once they knew we had them they were all over us (in a good way). They seemed to like my gf better and even though she was kinda skittish at force and worried they might be mean she was laughing most of the time. Echoing the other positive sentiments written on here since I know the power of reviews can really save and sustain local businesses. Our group was in in Cape May for the week (first week of September) and looking for something else to do after three days of beaching and wineries. We stumbled upon Jersey Shore Alpacas via yelp and TripAdvisor and decided to check it out. It was only 15 minutes from our rental in downtown Cape May. They are open to the public on Saturdays, but we were halfway through the week and leaving early Saturday and so we couldn't visit then. But luckily private tours are available to book year-round on weekdays (more limited in July). When you book a private tour, it is just your group in there; no strangers will be joining your tour. We were visiting in September and so we had good luck scoring a reservation just a day or two before visiting them. We were running a few minutes late for our appointment so we called ahead to let them know; Tish, the owner, greatly appreciated it as it gave her time to do some other errands before waiting at the window for us to show up. We drove up to the farm and parked in the half-circle driveway. Tish was very nice and gave us some information on the alpacas and instructions on feeding/being around them. We were outfitted with aprons with pockets that we stuffed with cut carrots for feeding. There were 3 pens set up and we were able to go into two pens (one with female alpacas and one with special needs). They had such different personalities and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the different alpacas and taking pictures. It was one of the highlights of entire trip. You can tell that they are well cared for. Afterwards, we visited their store which was stocked with goodies made of alpaca fur --- yarn, ear warmers, scarves, laundry dryer balls, toys, etc. They also had some beautiful illustrations of alpacas on cards; they were drawn by a young man in Peru who is deaf and orphaned. The owners had visited Peru and met this young man and showed him pictures of their alpacas. Royalty from each card goes back to this young man (Francisco's cards). Of course, I bought a few and some other alpaca goodies. I highly recommend a visit to this place if you are in the area! read more

Went with my two friends on May 20th. We were greeted by one of the owners and given bags of carrot sticks. The alpacas were cute in their own way, very silly, and very assertive for carrots! All the owners of the farm were very well-informed about alpacas in general and knew all of their alpacas' names and personalities. The noises the alpacas make are funny and cute, so stick around for them. We got to visit the store, too, which was filled with a ton of goods made from alpaca wool. (My favorites were the alpaca dolls -- so soft!) Their bathroom was incredibly clean, which was a plus. On the way to the bathroom, my friend saw a white Maine Coon in the hallway. When we mentioned that to the person looking after the shop, he went into the house and brought back Fluffy -- another Maine Coon living in the house. We got to pet Fluffy while being told about the cats of Jersey Shore Alpacas. Jersey Shore Alpacas makes a short and great day trip... Got to feed (and pet!) alpacas, also pet a cat... Everyone at Jersey Shore Alpacas was knowledgeable and friendly. Went to the nearby Rio Station for lunch. Will definitely come back again, hopefully for a private tour! read more

A group of us, all adults, visited there this week for a private tour. It was AWESOME!! We got to spend time with every single alpaca living there! The animals are exceptionally well cared for and loved and that shined through. The alpacas were happy, friendly, energetic and happy to pose for photos. The owner Tish, was a wealth of knowledge! We learned so much! Being crocheters we were also very interested in the processing and possibilities of the wool. The merchandise in the little store was top notch. Seeing the alpacas was pretty much the only reason my companion and I even decided to take the ferry from Lewes to Cape May (where we were vacationing). The NJ transit 552 or 510 bus comes directly here from the Cape May visitor center so traveling isn't difficult. This was an amazing visit. The alpacas were born and raised together and you can tell the caretakers treat them as family. You can take a quick tour and get introduced to the animals as well as feed them carrots. There's also a small shop in the house with goods made from alpaca fleece. We bought some adorable alpaca fleece winter hats. A fun place to be for families and friends! When you arrive, you are greeted by the owner of the farm who is extremely nice and friendly. She will tell you everything you need and want to know about alpacas and how she got this started. Her interns are extremely nice and are willing to explain to you the quirkiness of each alpaca. Each person is given a free bag of carrot to feed the alpacas and they will all rush to you for food. Be prepared to get spit on by them if they huddle too close to you! They will spit on each other for food but you might get hit by the crossfire. Their spit is not slimy, but it is stinky! If you are not a big fan of smelly spit, you can feed Lightning who is a lone alpaca that doesn't spit (since he is not near any other alpacas). Admission is free but donation is highly encouraged. Tish, the woman owning the place is extremely friendly and nice. She have is carrots to feed the alpacas. It isn't too big of a a place so you can see the alpacas really easily. You gotta be careful feeding them, case in order for them to secure their food they will sneeze and some casualty, being me getting sneezed on, is inevitable.
