My wife and I have never been to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, saw that it was playing, and decided to go. We were able to get a bit of a discount through groupon, but this ticket did not offer seat selection. Regular tickets, at regular prices, permit you to pick your seats. We arrived early at Jesters to find that the venue was a quite well worn building along mainstreet. The lobby was extremely small and crowded as people arrived. We were ultimately seated at the at the far left side of the theater where the view was more at an angle, but still satisfactory. The theater is small, seating only about 100. The actors wore no mics as a result. Food was nothing to write home about. It consisted of what seemed to be reheated pre-frozen food from Schwans, and marginally pleasant (but hot). On the other hand, the desserts we awesome (mud-pie, Yum! ). The theater is definitely a small local-grown Mom and Pop theater company, but it looks like it has been in business a long time, based on the many photo collages posted in their aisleways. The actors did an OK job and we liked how the unique personalities came through the performance. The orchestra was comprised of a single piano behind stage, and it seemed to overpower the voices at times. The play itself was designed to be comical. Joseph's brothers in diffent scenes don cowboy hats and lingo, straw hats and Hawian lingo, and Elvis even appears as Pharoah (you know - the King). All in all it was an enjoyable evening, bit I don't think it it a place we will be returning to. read more

Jesters in Longmont is a favorite of ours. Entertaining, fun, good food if you choose to dine there and reasonable. You should try it.

As far as Jesters goes...this is a small stage so don't expect an opera venue and you won't be disappointed. They do well with the size and budget they have to work with. I am thankful for Jesters as they give young raw talent a place to start in this difficult and competitive business of acting. The staff was friendly and courteous : ) I went to last nights performance of Legally Blonde and this was my first time to a live musical and my first time to Jesters. All I can say is I REALLY LOVED the performance !! :D My wife and I either smiled and or laughed out loud at every scene at every moment for the entire length of the show : ) Bravo to these young actors and actresses !! SO much work and so much preparation and rehearsal and it showed !! We were fortunate to go to the opening night of Aida last night, and it was great! We had never been to Jesters and have to admit to being a bit hesitant to go to a dinner theater. I'm glad we did though While it's obviously a small, local venue, it is also good. The food is decent and the play was powerful. The actors did a great job with an interesting story. The woman who plays Aida showed the depth of the character and has an amazing voice. She sang the songs with the strength that is appropriate for the complex and sometimes defiant character! I also enjoyed the choreograpjy All-in-all, I will definitely go back and would definitely encourage others to see Aida if they live in the Longmont area. Jesters also does kids plays that could be fun if you have little ones. We don't, so we'll head back to see another play and maybe check out their comedy night at some point. read more

The Jesters Theatre is always a fun time! Casual and relaxed atmosphere. Wait staff are the talented performers. Local talent of all ages that always put on a great show. Currently doing a hilarious performance of Anything Goes. Can't beat the Prime Rib or Veggie Lasagne. read more

I brought the lady friend to Jesters for her birthday since The Sound of Music was showing. She loves TSoM, me... not so much. I mean, even Christopher Plummer didn't really like it, so I feel like I'm in good company. But that's neither here nor there. We only came for the show, and did not partake in the dinner part of the dinner theatre. Jesters is family run, and they seem to go out of their way to give their guests a pleasant experience. Now, being a small family run theatre in Longmont, it should be no surprise that this is very much a community theatre. The performance was entertaining, but there was a wide array of talent (and...well... let's just stick with 'a wide array) on the stage. Some of the actors were clearly talented while others sure seemed to be having a good time. And you know what? That's ok. This is not a professional theatre troupe. This is not a big budget production. This is people doing what they love in order to entertain their friends. Just don't be a snob. Celebrate people as they are, not as you wish they could be. While I probably won't drive out to Longmont for every show, I'll definitely come back. read more

Jesters is a small, casual, community dinner theater experience where the actors sometimes use the area between the dining tables as part of the stage--it works nicely. I've taken my granddaughter to Jesters' productions for several summers when she visits from Kansas City, and we both enjoy the performances. The performers double as wait staff and have always been professional and courteous. We have no complaints about the food. read more

Saw The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. My kids did not like it and neither did I. I felt horrible for the kids in the play because I felt like they could have done better with more rehearsal time. I do not think they should charge for the production seeing as the kids did not know their lines, were often fed their lines by other kids or would sit and stare in silence. Some of the kids were amazing, other kids were speaking in an almost whisper and it was very hard to hear. read more

I waited awhile before posting this because an acquaintance was one of the performers and this is why I attended Seussical and I hate to hurt peoples' feelings but the experience was not good. A big part of the problem was the show itself. I guess this show is good for children's theatre and I think more attention to the costuming (really going over the top) and more colorful sets could have saved it but the show is an acquired taste and the performance at Jester's was lackluster to put it kindly. I found it just silly. Child actors can be a gamble and this cast seemed a little bored, especially the kids. We saw the show after Christmas and it had already been running something like 2 months so I can hardly blame them. A more limited run is advised. I wondered if it was my cynical nature that caused me not to like the show but most of the kids in the audience were having more fun playing with their drinking straws than actually watching. Some actors were really putting everything they had into their role and others were phoning it in for sure. Some were not even wearing make up or their full costumes. The service for the dinner was pretty good although I overheard the wait staff telling people they were out of 3 different menu items (very limited to start with). Running out of menu items would normally be understandable but when you preorder tickets, you choose your meal so, they should know how many of each dish to have on hand. Doesn't make sense. The poor little girls near us had to split their pizza b/c they only had one slice left! Wow. I don't think I'll be back. Sorry! read more

We saw Legally Blonde and it was a lot of fun. Dinner was good. I saw a few negative posts about this place and all I can guess is someone thinks a community theater in Longmont, CO is the same as Broadway in NYC?? The price was great, cast did a great job. We all were laughing and really enjoying ourselves. A company called Goldstar offers discounted tix for some of their shows, we used them and saved even a little more! Definitely well worth the time and money and we got what we paid for and more! Will go again!! read more

I would have to say however that although it is great there is a venue for young talent to spread their wings I think a cheerier atmosphere and eliminating the dinner portion would serve these young actors better. The price was steep for microwaved food and a price decrease may be the only way I would return to such a sad and depressing venue. I would give it more stars if based solely on the enthusiastic and spirited performances by the local kids. read more

We had a great time this evening! Went to see Into The Woods as part of a Groupon deal. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Food was filling and dessert was tasty. The young cast was very talented. We expected a typical high school play, but was surprised that the production and talent were more on par with a good college performance. The actors served dinner and were attentive, helpful and friendly. Couldn't have asked for a better evening. read more

We went for the show only on the opening weekend of Les Miserables. The service staff, who also appear on stage were friendly and attentive. The staging and production are remarkable for a play this long and involved, especially at a community theater. The members of the cast were overall in fine voice, especially the principals, and the play was very well acted. There were a couple of places early on where the play lagged a bit, but the energy just kept building to the intermission and through to the rousing finale. We are recommending this production to friends and plan to return to Jesters for future productions. read more

I decided to audition for a youth production at Jesters because I was looking for somewhere to do community theater in the area and some friends had done shows there. Several family members who attended my shows were extremely disappointed in the overall product. They've seen better productions from elementary school kids. Which isn't a surprise considering the way performers were treated. Although there were a few bright spots in the overall experience, I honestly don't know how this place is still open. The building's interior is basically falling apart, and there's a ... distinct smell. No health code violations (that I know of) or anything, just isn't very aesthetic, not at all inviting. From what I've heard and seen, the food is okay but nothing to rave about. Apparently the mixed drinks are pretty good- probably because they get people happy enough to sit through performances. Seriously, I was part of the cast and I'll be first to admit it was horrible. Actors were breaking out laughing on stage, even missing scenes completely. Most did not understand basic vocal production or acting skills, and it showed. I understand that directors can't hold your hand and walk you through everything, but by casting these kids they knew what they had to work with and accepted responsibility. I would have expected some basic instruction, at least feedback. Then when showtime rolled around, the directors took it out on us. Not just normal 'hell week' as we say in theater. I mean one of the directors screamed and pointed at my friend, calling him worthless and useless and told him never to audition again! I understand the frustration, but that was UNACCEPTABLE and UNETHICAL, especially considering that he PAID to be in the show. That's right, each performer paid $300 to participate (waaaaay over the going rate, which is 80-100 bucks at the most). This fee is labeled as 'tuition', but reads 'rent payment'. They've raised it again to $350 since I've left, not a big shock. Tickets are less severely overpriced, but no one is getting what they pay for. We put on 2 shows a week for a month and a half, when some sometimes only 10 people would attend a show. Sometimes no one bought tickets at all. As a performer, it breaks my heart to know audience members are falling asleep and texting during my show. There really were many, many enthusiastic and talented cast members, many of whom I am still friends with. This was a group of kids that seemed impossible to de-motivate, but Jester's did it! I realize that there are other events besides youth productions available at Jester's (I would know because they keep popping up in my inbox). Never having seen/been to any of them I can't comment. But it is obvious that Jester's is throwing kids off-board in order to stay afloat, which is why I will NEVER, NEVER do a show there again, even if they paid me. These reviews are supposed to be about the customer experience. Anyone who pays $300 for something is a customer, plain and simple. This review is to warn prospective auditioners not to waste $350 and two and a half months of their lives on Jesters. read more
