No frills airline to get from the different provinces around Australia and Sydney. They charge for drinks, water and snacks. Very strict on weight rules for checked luggage and bags brought on board!!!!! All bags, etc are weighed before you can get on. Not much seat room. Good deals on pricing.

First of all, it was a whole experience getting here... My fault for not looking at my email, etc. But why did I have to go to the international airport for a domestic flight...? Then a crooked taxi cab driver ripped us off driving from the domestic to international terminal because we did not have enough time to hop on the free shuttle. This happened to so many people we met at the Jetstar terminal. Quality/Quantity - Low cost carrier. And they are proud of it. Advertises it aggressively, part of their branding. For the people reading from the US - Think Frontier, Spirit low cost. If you know, you KNOW! Our fault, not theirs, we went over the luggage weight of only 10kg (22 lbs). This applies to BOTH the carry on and backpack together, which I did not know. My two empty bags alone probably weigh 5kg... The penalty was $65AUD, probably more than the cost of our one way flight per person, LOL! Atmosphere - No thrills, no frills. As advertised, you get what you pay for. Service - Minimum service. LITERALLY THE WORST AIRLINE I HAVE EVER FLOWN WITH!!! There's a reason why they have bad reviews. The so called "low price" before all the hidden fees are not worth it. Go with a more reputable airline and the price is relatively the same when you calculate Jetstar's fees for baggage, food, entertainment, legroom, etc. In addition, they have no clue what customer service is. At check-in, the agent in her native language called me "stupid" when I'm trying to explain to her that I had 15kg baggage purchased because I had to explain several times when she didn't understand. She obviously thought I couldn't understand her. Very rude and unprofessional. Save yourself the stress and hassle and avoid this airline. I flew with them twice but never again. * Anything but star quality service. * Really a shame because the aircraft is relativity new & seemed well maintained. * The gate staff were rude and unpleasant and seemed to hate their jobs. * Each person were only allowed 7kg of total carry on-- this included bags, back-packs, purses, hand bags etc. Obviously we were not aware of the policies but the staff could have been a little more respectful & mindful that not everyone is aware of the policy. So rather than being a bit sympathetic, we were met with down right rudeness in a very harsh authoritative manner. These people didn't give a rats ass about anything. * We were charged a hefty $65 AUD for additional 7kg even though our combined party of five people went over 2kg's. * The Flight from Adelaide to Perth cost $615 AUD ($423 USD) per person and the flight time was three hours, during that time you would imagine they serve complimentary drinks/snacks to a certain degree -- nope nothing. * Though the flight was not sold out and there were plenty of open seats including the entire back row as we were seated second to the very last row of the plane and one member of our party felt nauseous due to the cramping seats but more so due to another passenger seated in front of her due to very bad body odor. When asked if she can take one of the 6 open seats in the very last row, the flight attendant simply dismissed it exclaimed "no, these seats are to remain empty due to airline regulation." * This same flight attendant that previously said no an hour earlier, then occupied one of those open seats, ate her meal, read a magazine and took a short nap. When I questioned her why she wouldn't let a nauseated passenger occupy an empty seat but it was okay for her to use it, she barked back and said "sir, please turn around and put on your seatbelt". I pushed back and now she was irritated and got up and forcefully put the tray back in its place and walked away. * Just before landing, the head flight attendant got on the mic and asked for donations to help needy children- great cause, I'm all for that but perhaps changing the policy and taking care of your PAYING customers first should be a priority. * One of the worse service airlines ever, fly at your own risk-- * Not worth 1 star! read more

Courtney at Sydney JetStar Check-In terminal purposely sent my luggage to another site - Melbourne personal tried to assist but they have issues if their own - they only deliver 2 lost luggage per day - if your luggage is NOT close to the delivery site of the other lost luggage- you can count on a non delivery- until JETStar can get 2 close together- also the older gentleman at the customer service desk in Melbourne was very Blasé about returning your lost luggage- not a priority for him ! read more

I know this is a budget airline and I appreciate all that goes with this. However budget doesn't mean rude...... unless you are flying Jetstar. We needed an urgent flight to QLD and went via Sydney with Jetstar. The staff in Sydney are just straight out rude. Heaven forbid should someone want to drop off a bag and interrupt their conversations about what they have planned for the weekend. If you don't like customer service, if you don't like people, than find another job. The awful service provided by Jetstar Sydney made me immediately look up to see if I can change to another airline - not worried about cost - just want a friendly face whom is willing to provide a service. read more

They let obese human blobs of flesh onto the plane without concern, but if your carry on luggage is 0.1 kg over their ludicrous limit, you have to pay extra. Complete nickle and dime game. Maybe next time I should eat my luggage like everyone else apparently did. read more

This was by far the worst travel experience I have ever had. The flight was delayed multiple times. The gate agents were rude and appear to be racist. The fees were excessive for baggage. The online customer support was ineffective. The plane was inadequately serviced smelly and uncomfortable. Heed the warnings on Yelp and do not fly. I repeat do not fly this Airlines. They will spoil your vacation. read more

Service good - plane old! Cairns to Adelaide May 2017 Good service, staff friendly and helpful. We had exit row seats but because this was a very old plane the only storage except for the overhead lockers was a little pocket at the top of the seat in front which was already full with the planes own brochures! The seats were really uncomfortable and had lost most of their stuffing!... read more

They don't even deserve 1 star! Just booked a flight with Jetstar. Supposed to be 6th December but randomly changed to 5th December. Within 5 minutes of this booking error I called Jetstar to see if they could help fix the error. They tried to charge me $150-$160 to change the date. I requested a manager review this error, the agreed to waive the fee but tried to charge me $62 for a flight difference that was only $27 online. I was happy to pay $27 but $62 would make that flight the most expensive in comparison to all other airlines which defeats the purpose of flying Jetstar. they said the online price is different and wouldn't accept that. Went to complaints team, no help or compassion from them either. I feel completely scammed and will never fly Jetstar again!!!!!! NOTE: since this post (and a few others), the customer service team on twitter sorted everything out without a drama. So, I think the overseas customer service team (which I think is also the complaints team), are the problem and bringing the service to a negative space. read more

On July 26, 2018, I flew from Cairnes to Sydney on Jetstar and was treated horrifically. The gate agent yelled at my 7 year old and 9 year old because the had the audacity to ask me why our baggage was being weighed. She may have been stressed out by all the other unhappy passengers, but telling my kids "if your daddy was smart enough to pack your bag to weigh under 7kg then we wouldn't be having this problem now would we? Perhaps you should not have bought those souvenirs you brats!" I was in absolute disbelief! I then had to pay $240 in fees for the privilege of having this nasty individual yell at my kids. On a side note, I have been an airplane mechanic for 20 years and have only witnessed such poorly maintained aircraft when we had to get planes in the sky in a hurry in Afghanistan during wartime conditions. It is only a matter of time that this lazy, bottom dollar approach to their equipment will result in an accident. Fly at your own risk. read more

Jetstar manages to make the budget airline experience part of the holiday rather than a cheap-and-nasty alternative to the 'real' thing. There must be a Jetstar briefing manual that requires staff to behave in a professional but laidback manner, and to use humour to interact with passengers and avert clashes and dissatisfaction. Our pilot certainly sounded almost as pleased to be flying toward the sunshine as we were. But then, I chose to fly with Jetstar to a holiday destination. It was a bit mystifying that at the airport there were dedicated check-in lines for Queensland holiday destinations, whilst a trailing queue awaited check-in for the commuter destinations. Onboard, seating was a bit tight, which again, is fine for a holiday flight but would be testing if you actually needed to get the laptop out and work. And whilst I totally understand the concept of 'pay-for-what-you-use', surely it is more cost-effective to serve every seat-occupant a cookie and a cup of tea than to have the poor cabin crew fumbling around with cash, credit cards and an unwieldy trolley full of 'menu items' for sale?? If I'd been that desperate for a packet of M&Ms I could have bought one at the airport before I boarded. read more

Absolutely disgusted!! My wife flew with JetStar tonight to Cairns on a last minute flight to see her mum who is very sick. She packed into carry on baggage. The airline called all passengers over to weigh bags where they found her two bags were 2 kg over the 7kg weight limit. As a result the airline charged her an additional $90 to carry the additional 2kg from Brisbane to Cairns and back. What a disgusting approach to use what could be viewed as extortionate tactics to take advantage of clients at their most vulnerable! This company, I understand to be owned by Qantas, the "spirit of Australia" is absolutely un-Australian and should be absolutely ashamed of itself. I'm ashamed to even feel the need to write this post tonight. I would be happy to discuss this further with a member of the airline who cares, however I expect this does not exist. read more

I had a HORRIBLE experience with Jetstar. I fly for business pretty much 3-4 times a month, but this experience is a first of its kind. I booked a flight from Honolulu to Sydney through Kiwi, and I paid $1657 USD for these tickets - not cheap - to be treated incredibly disrespectfully. All I got was a simple confirmation email. There was no mention that I had to pre-pay for basic services. Then, I heard through the grapevine that I needed to pre-pay for luggage, entertainment, and meals. (Exorbitant amounts BTW). So, I called to do this. I paid over the phone for luggage and entertainment, and was told that I can't get a confirmation for my $95 payment unless I called Kiwi, which is a crazy inconvenience. Then, I was told that me and my elderly mother could not have access to food for a 10.5 hour flight - because it is sold out. I was upset and the representative literally scolded me (listen to the recording!) for not calling earlier booking directly through Jetstar's website. I then escalated this to a supervisor (Edward) who was equally rude and condescending and unhelpful. I asked to talk to his supervisor, and he said he couldn't guarantee that his supervisor would call me back because he is in meetings about storms in the Philippines. I said he could call me when he can, and Edward basically said "I can't guarantee." I said is that code for he won't call, and he said "yes." UNREAL. I also found it maddening that they said we can't bring more than 100 ml of beverages on the plane, nor are we guaranteed to be able to purchase beverages. Also, was told that as a benefit, I could bring food from the outside world on for free. I would like to know of an airline that doesn't allow you to bring your own food on the plane for free. This is not a benefit. I am truly offended, and looking to escalate this externally. I asked for a case ID and was told there is none. I work in the realm of customer experience consulting, and you guys need this desperately. read more

The air fares were really reasonable and because we booked months in advance, I was able to use my booking reference to pick the seats we wanted online. Happy to pay the extra fee, because managed to get row 1, and it was well worth it. Flight was good, staff were good and everything ran smoothly when it came to boarding and getting off the plane. Only issue was check in at Sydney International. very slow, only two working the desk and waited up to 45m-1hr to check in. Gave very little time to get through Customs and Duty Free. Overall, very good. Just a tad shy off a perfect review due to check in times. read more

Warning - Flier beware! Jetstar imposes a highly restrictive and inflexible baggage weight policy that is designed to maximize their profit at the expense of customer satisfaction. I'm speaking as someone who has flown with many airlines all over the world for over 2 million Km. Jetstar does clearly articulate the requirements that must be met to avoid their unreasonable excess baggage weight fees, but if you are unaware and are over their limit, you will be unpleasantly surprised. In my case, my carry on bag was 12 Kg, 5 Kg above their 7 Kg maximum. I could not fit anymore items into my checked baggage to offset this weight. So, Jetstar charged me, not for the excess (5 Kg), but for the whole 12 Kg at NZD 15/Kg or NZD 180! This was far more than the cost of my seat on the flight from Queenstown, NZ to Auckland. The whole experience was the only blemish on a fantastic 2-week trip throughout New Zealand. My suggestion to future Jetstar passengers: travel with a portable luggage scale or consider flying with an airline that is more customer-oriented than Jetstar. read more

In theory it's a budget airline and so you don't get food or luggage. In practice it's a lot worse. We spend 3 nights in hotels because of Jetstar delays and cancelled flights. Lucky since we booked our whole trip with JS, otherwise we'd have to buy new connections. Even then our hotels provided by JS were an hour away from the airport instead of the hotel right next door, we have to haul all our luggage with us at 11pm in the cold -2 weather and wait for the bus. We spend exactly 4 hours each night in the hotel including check in/out time before having to get the bus back to catch the rescheduled flight. Worse yet is they break our luggage. Since we only got 2hrs sleep in the last 2 days (yes 2 consecutive days cancels and stay at JS hotels), we didn't notice until we got home. Because of this they refuse to repair our luggage. In the end we saved $1000 on flights, lost 3 days of our life, and got offered a $50 voucher to use Jetstar again WITHIN 6 MONTHS! What a joke! We spent $6000 on fares, and for messing with our lives we get $50 off spending more $ on Jetstar? Within 6 months? read more

The airline got me to my destination without any significant delays and I'm not dead so job accomplished I guess. I always bring a backpack when traveling because I hate checking in luggage. Normal airlines such as Virgin or any other airline I ever flew with, this is fine. With Jetstar they make you weigh your carry on and if it's over 7kg you must check it in. Other airlines allow up to 15kg for carry on, fine whatever, this is a nickel and dime type airline, but then they told me the cost of checking in my luggage. IT WAS $160 AUD to check in my luggage! That is simply unacceptable and it's a huge scam. Yes they technically state this online but really WTF?! I understand $40 even $60 but $169! That is absolutely outrageous read more

Ripped off by the website! The payment screen was followed by the homepage after I clicked to submit the payment. So I try to go back and book the flight again and of course the flights I want are no longer on sale. I called the call centre and after an insulting $50 voucher offer (the difference between sale and non-sale flights was of course much more than this), they said all they can do is lodge a feedback form. Pathetic. And it's not the first time I've been ripped off by their website. If you have an option to pay with POLi and it doesn't work, then why provide it? read more

I tried to book with Jet Star online but promptly received notice that there was a payment error after I was unable to book. Assuming no payment was taken and it was important to me to attend my sisters wedding I booked with Air New Zealand. Furthermore with 1 minute was remaining to book, I thought there was no issue. Some 6 hours later I received a booking confirmation. I promptly lodged a dispute, that night. This it the response I received from Jet Star.... Case ID CAS-1448645-G6K0H5 Dear Cherie, Thank you for contacting Jetstar. I'm sorry to hear that you had some difficulty making a credit card payment for a Jetstar booking. When you reach the 'Payment' page of the Jetstar website you have the opportunity to choose which payment option is most convenient to you. Jetstar accepts credit card payments from Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB or Diners card. If you select this payment option you will need to pay a Booking and Service fee per person, per flight. This fee is waived for customers who pay using a Jetstar Mastercard. As a credit card payment is an instant payment option, you should receive a confirmation that your booking is confirmed while on the Jetstar website. If the payment is not successful, this should also be notified immediately. Once your booking has been paid for and confirmed we send you your itinerary. As a traveler I have used many different airlines to get to where I want to be or dreamed of going. This time was no different as I was in Singapore and needed a side adventure and heard someone said jet star. I decided to go on that and booked my trip to Kuala Lumpur for the day and the half with my carry on. I can understand this is a budget airline and it will cost anyone for a check in baggage to food. But service should still be service. I didn't have an issue getting to KL; however, on the return trip to Singapore I was flabbergasted as I missed my flight. I showed up 50 minutes early and was unable to check in online and there was no one at the counter. The lights were off and other staff members at airasia said they were gone. I tried using using jet star online help and spoke with their customer representative. I have to say that they were unprofessional in every way. The customer rep on the phone was not helpful at all and put the blame back on us. We tried to explain the situation and they kept putting the blame back on us. I'm sure most customer service are trained on knowing how to de-escalate the situation and not the other way around. Thanks jet star for teaching me a valuable lesson ! I hope whoever reads this will take my warning not to use them. Use other budget airlines or any other airlines. read more

About a month ago I took a flight with Jetstar to start my new job overseas. I was in Australia at the time and my visa had run out, so I had a one way ticket. At no point was I prompted to purchase anything else along with my ticket despite getting a one way international seat. When I arrive at the airport (a good two hours before my flight) I am told that I'm not allowed to have any suitcases. Not that I need to purchase something, they're just not allowed. I would have to leave everything I owned in Australia and never come back for it. When I told them this was not possible they referred me to the customer service section. Her, they were rude to the point that I started crying. And they told me they didn't have time to deal with someone this emotional. Eventually they told me that check in time closed anyway and I was not getting on my flight. Oh, by the way, no refunds. Again, I was literally not allowed to stay in the country! I was forced to buy a last minute flight costing 3x the amount I would have paid if I went with another company before the flight. Because of this I literally was unable to pay my rent (I am bouncing around friend's houses now literally homeless), my phone has been cut off, and I am about to lose my job because I can't afford the commute. I have been sick countless time from eating food that has gone bad because I can't afford to buy anything else. When I contacted the company with this story they said "Sorry you missed your flight. You should have been more punctual." Show that they actually didn't read my email at all besides the point that I said I didn't get on a flight. I could even send them proof of my overdrafted account and my bounced phone bill if needed, but nope, they hold no responsibility. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with and I want everyone to know what a scam these flights are and how horrible they are to their customers. United is starting to look better. I'd rather be punched than homeless. They say they're low price until they rip you off with all their hidden fees! read more

Not only are the planes as basic as possible, but the staff is beyond unprofessional and will even attempt to scam money from customers. I was traveling with three people and we had two checked bags: they attempted to put them both onto one passenger, to increase the cost for the second bag, without telling me. They have a "rewards program" that offers a discount on the flight, but then they don't tell you that it automatically renews a year later (after you've done your best to forget this Godawful airline). Avoid at all costs. read more

The staff seemed to take pleasure in making our lives difficult. They charge nearly $40 for ANY checked bag. The food smelled like farts and cost an insane amount of money. There was hardly any leg room and only one nasty working bathroom on the whole plane. No entertainment to speak of (not even a damn newspaper), and the boarding process was so difficult and broken that we almost missed our flight. I HATE THIS AIRLINE MORE THAN HITLER. I would rather work on an oil tanker to reach my destination rather than fly with this horrible, disgusting company ever again. read more

Flying to New Zealand with my family and we had an issue with our luggage being transferred from Sydney. Jetstar assured us that they would be able to transfer our luggage the next day and had located the the baggage at Sydney which was a great relief for my family. Claim ticket in hand we left our final destination and were planning to return the next day to pick up our luggage. Fast forward 24 hours, we called into their baggage claim hotline and was informed that they had no idea where our luggage was. I was transferred to their Philippines Call Center who had no clue on how to make things happen. I was told that it would take up to 7 days to determine where my luggage was located. Bottom line, nobody in their Baggage Department was available to help track my luggage down and ensure that it showed up our our final destination. I went to the Airport and was informed that all Jetstar staff had left even though it was 5pm. A good airline is judged by their customer service which seems to be extremely lacking with Jetstars Baggage department. I would think as a startup division of Qantas that they would have there customer service processes worked out ahead of time. Not the case. read more

I understand the fact that this is a budget airline, but I've never had someone talk in such a rude and disrespectful manner to me as the woman working at the Jetstar service desk in Sydney. Her name was Danielle and she was the most condescending and unhelpful person I've ever talked to, not to mention inconsiderate and unhelpful. I asked her how she knew her answer was correct to a question I had asked her, and her only response was that she had been working for Jetstar for "2 1/2 years now". Wow, good for you... (*slow clap*) I asked to speak to her supervisor and she told me that SHE was the supervisor. Just goes to show how much time and effort Jetstar puts into finding qualified/ talented leadership for their company.. Just because of my experience with Danielle I will never EVER fly with Jetstar again. Her condescending and rude attitude were completely uncalled for- that is definitely NOT how you are supposed to talk to customers... Not only that but the carry-on weight limits for luggage are ridiculous.. Still waiting on a refund for my extra luggage fee.. read more

I've used Jetstar a few times and they are good for the value, they are 100x better than Tiger. However, their seats are quite uncomfortable, I don't understand why the head portion on the seat leans in so far and tilts your head and neck forward making it so uncomfortable to sit up straight. Also, they are very very strict about your carry-on bag. My friend's bag was underweight so it met weight restrictions but the bag didn't fit perfectly in that metal scale, they argued it was too big for a carry-on so they demanded my friend pay another $100 or move her clothes into a garbage bag. Well, my friend wasn't about to pay more money, so she took out a big plastic bag she had in her purse and we threw all her clothes inside. Then we asked if jetstar could just temporarily hold onto the bag for a weekend in 'lost & found' or storage somewhere and they said No, that the bag would be thrown out. I'm sure they could have been more helpful had they wanted to be, but the stewards were quite rude and unsympathetic. read more

I wholeheartedly believe that with low-cost carrier what they lack in substance they can make up for in great customer service. Not with Jetstar. It was my first time flying this budget airliner. I was traveling with family. First off, it took the ticket counter rep forever to find my reservation. She didn't seem to think it's her job but mine to give her the full details of my itinerary. Second, we were struggling to meet the baggage weight restrictions. So we decided to check in one extra luggage the very last minute. Although it is a complete oversight on our end, the Jetstar rep did not bother to help us in any way. They have the worst customer service ever. I will take my business elsewhere after what I experienced with Jetstar. read more

Late evening, so not many spots on flights that night and most people got put on planes out the next day. We needed to go to Tullamarine, but were put on a flight to Avalon. Chatting to fellow passengers, we realised others behind us were put on a flight to Tullamarine that same day! The lady at the desk said only Avalon available and if we were to go to Tullamarine then we'd have to stay in Sydney an extra two days - out of which Jetstar will only cover ONE night! WORST AIRLINE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!!! I cancelled a flight within 24 hours of booking it and was rightfully assured I was qualified for a refund. It has now been almost two months, hours on the phone calling every few days, and countless times that I am reassured my refund is coming and I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT. It is the most insane and incompetent customer service and company I have ever dealt with. I even have an email proof (after the 5th phone call and demanding written proof) that I should have received an expedited refund in 3-5 business day and that was 2 weeks ago!!!! I usually try to avoid Jetstar at all costs. However a family member got sick and I had to fly down to look after them. So I was stuck. However after this experience I think I will just tell my mother-in law to harden up, and pray to a higher power for a miracle. I am writing this review standing in queue after Jetstar got everyone to line up and weighed their carry on luggage. Over 7kg and you pay for luggage ($160) or wear everything in your bag. Children and the elderly where not spared. Now that is combined weight; Yes your purse/man-bag goes on the combined scales as well. It embrasses me for this airline that they treat their customers like this. And the poor staff that have to carry out these draconian inspections. The check on was equally a cluster of errors. Everyone lined up waiting, staff were rude, procedures were terrible. I am a aeronautical engineer and this was a show run by a monkey suffering from Ebola with a severe case of neuro-syphilis, after major head trauma. Ugh. I feel dirty. I feel.... ugly. I will catch the bus next time. I have regularly caught the cat urine smelling, afternoon bus from Sydney to Canberra on Friday afternoons. And that was French champagne compared to this. I was embrassed for everyone involved. I will never fly Jetstar again. I hate you. read more

I would recommend flying with another carrier. I recently took my first domestic flight in Australia with JetStar, and it wasn't comfortable. I preferred my Qantas flights much more in terms of quality and service. Worst of all, I think they may have stolen my bag. After checking in and having my boarding pass checked, the flight attendant picked up my bag and said it was too heavy. She called a baggage handler to gate check it. I told them I had an international connection, and they took it without giving me a claim check. I asked for one and I was told it would go under the plane. When I got to Sydney, the bag wasn't there. I've been assured they'd find it and ship it to me. However, it's been more than 24 hours since I made the claim, and there's no evidence it's in their possession. When I made my report, the agent told me that it was my fault if my bag were gone. After all, being unaware of their policy that carryons couldn't be more than 7kg was not an excuse. As much as her response seemed to add insult to injury, I do understand that rules are rules. What I can't get over is why they took my bag without giving me a claim check. read more

It's been 18 years since my last trip 'home' so things have changed. Meals are served in a container with bamboo utensils. This is par now if you travel economy on most airlines. I found the staff on board all well groomed, fresh uniforms and very attentive with lots of smiles and eye contact. No sooner took off than we had a bottle of water and a fun savory snack to enjoy. I read an actual book on board so did not use the entertainment system except to view the view from the tail of the plane and also the flight tracker. 14+ hour flight, you need hydration and snacks along the way, these were there to enjoy. Nearby was a large compartment with choice of cold drinks and snacks ready to enjoy wherever needed during the flight. The seating is snug, I knew it would be and so not an issue for me, I was mentally prepared for that. I travelled with my adult Down syndrome son and without asking, Qantas staff offered us pre boarding on each flight, much appreciated. My next visit, I will fly Qantas airlines again happily. We all know their safety record, that counts!

We were impressed with the modern, sleek yet friendly-looking facility, the multiple new electronic security kiosks designed to handle the large number of incoming visitors and returning residents, and the local artwork displays. I must say it took us around 15 minutes from the arrival gate to baggage claim, then to check in and pass through immigration, as we didn't have anything to declare. Once we exited immigration, we met with our driver, who was proudly showing a company placard with our names boldly printed. This was by far the best and most efficient arrival procedures and processing into a foreign country that we have ever encountered. We'd happily return.

At least, that what I hear, probably international airlines in general. And so, my flight was booked from SYD to CHC for a nice Monday morning in September 2018. The check in process was actually at the check in counter. The gate agent did ask me when I was to fly back to Sydney or leave New Zealand. I'm guessing New Zealand doesn't like people traveling one way and get stuck. I was on holiday, so there wasn't any need to be stuck anywhere. I got the boarding pass there and proceeded to the gate. I was surprised that there was a full flight that morning. Only thing was that we actually boarded and departed late, but ended up arriving to Christchurch more or less on time. It was weird that way, but I was glad that I got to Christchurch at a decent time. We flew on an Airbus 380, which had an upstairs section for the business and first class fliers. I never knew this type of plane existed till this type of plane only flew internationally and the US carriers did not have this type of plane. Once I boarded the plane, I immediately saw the staircase to the second floor. That really blown me away, not realizing that they made that kind of plane! I was stoked and took it to social media upon arrival to my seat to voice my amazement for this wonder. After a while, it became clear to me, but I never seen it flying domestically in the United States. First time for everything! The overall experience here flying with Emirates Airlines from Sydney to Christchurch was nice, although the slight delay was disappointing. The airline usually accepts online bookings prior to departure via online credit card payments either directly on its website or third party travel companies. Best bet is to find the best deal and dates to fly before securing your airline ticketing options. Since my departure airport was Sydney Australia (SYD), I made sure I was here about 2 hours early even though it was an international flight. You don't have to be, but it helps a lot to not be panicking when time gets too close to departure. For the most part though, the seats were comfortable, I'll admit to. I sat in the back of the plane, since I rather not be hurried when I get off the plane. Although the plane had usb power, it was a quick flight, so i basically just did some yelp reviews on the way there. The service was nice enough, as airline service went. There was breakfast meal service on that morning flight. I know whether to take one and be asked for payment - or not. Thankfully, I had eaten prior to boarding and just had the complimentary wine that I knew was complimentary instead of guessing. The flight was smooth and no major bumps and other mishaps along the way. I wanted to get there alive, much like everyone else. Although I would have liked to be sitting in the business class section of the plane while traveling internationally, it was nice to experience the Emirates Airlines experience, just for once. Traveling internationally is something I don't do often, but when I do, I try to see how it is different than that of the United States and it's many carriers. Free wine is always a nice way to do things though. I should have asked if the meal was complimentary, but that's for next time and another flight. Flying is usually comes standard, but choosing the airline helps makes that proces smoother. If you have a choice for international travels, you can decide to fly with Emirates. They are cool. I would recommend them on flights to and from Sydney Australia. 4.0 stars for the overall experience and comfort. 4.0 stars for the seat comfort. 4.0 stars for the complimentary wine. Upon boarding, we discovered that the row actually contained three seats, which made the extra charge feel unjustified, especially since no traveler willingly pays more for a middle seat. The onboard seating experience was also uncomfortable. My assigned seat, 6K, lacked sufficient cushioning, making it difficult to sit comfortably during the journey. I was charged excess baggage fee of $630 on Sep 23, 2019 at Auckland domestic airport on my route to Dunedin. I was connecting from an international flight and awarded of Jetstar's stricter baggage allowance and called the Jetstar customer case and the representative told me that I would be charged $15 for excess of each 5 kg. I was prepared to pay the excess charge of about $100 at the counter but they charged me $630 instead. When I asked the question, they told me that once the baggage drop is open the rate increases to $15 for excess of each 1 kg. I ended up paying $630 instead of $126. I explained that I checked in before the bag drop opened and nobody including the phone representative (that I called many days earlier) did not tell me that I should have purchase it before the bag drop opened. But they insisted that I should pay $630 (5 times more) not $126. I ended up paying $630 but called the customer care yesterday. The representative would not willing to listen my concerns and were not courteous at all. I requested to transfer the phone to a supervisor and they made me wait a really long time. After several attempts, I was able to talk to the supervisor named Edward employee ID XMMA43. After talking to him over 30 min, he said he could not find any phone record and asked me to provide the screen capture of my call history. I was ready to provide it but they just notified that they would not provide refund no matter what. read more

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this airline. The airport crew members were unhelpful, disrespectful, and displayed a lack of professionalism. I initially called to change my flight time and was informed there would be a $70 change fee for a 50-minute flight from Harbort to Melbourne. Despite the fee, I agreed to proceed. When I arrived at the airport three hours early, I politely asked the staff if I could change the flight time and pay the fee in person. However, the crew members were shockingly rude, cutting me off mid-request and refusing to assist. I explained that all flights were running an hour late, which was another reason I needed the change, but they were dismissive and unwilling to help. In summary, the customer service was appalling, the staff were untrained, and the pricing was excessive. I will never book with this airline again and strongly advise others to avoid it as well. It's clear this company has no respect for its customers and does not take feedback seriously. With 92% of reviews being negative, it's shocking that such poor experiences continue to this day. Fees Fees Fees.....Jetstar will promote a low fare but in the end squeeze you like a lemon. If you have a carry on they will shake you down for $50 just for having the thought that were allowed such a luxury. They have a scale and everything on you must be under 7 kg....Everything on you! So if you carry anything trust me it will be over 7kg. I got into with the staff because my empty backpack weighted 8.6kg on their magic scale....8.6kg!!!!!! It was empty! They must have hired the creators of "Desert Bus" to make their website because it is a joke and not functional. Don't fall for the promos and just book a more reliable airline, if you don't you will wish you did. I have flown many times and this was my last. Staff from desk to flight are always miserable to interact with. If you do so choose to punish yourself and fly with this circus bring along something to clean your seat with because there usually is a nice mess in the floor and seats. read more

This is next level budget! The seats are so crammed, not possible to take any kind of long haul flight with them. Everything costs extra with this airline, from choosing your crammed seat, to all food and beverages, to all carry on and check in luggage beyond 7kg. About the worst aspect I encountered is that they have just changed their policy so that no one can take more than 7kg carry on! On an airline that only allows 40kg maximum of checked luggage.
