Nice modern and clean designed Grocery Store. Very large market, well stocked and many sale prices. Nice signs that are easy to read and follow. Good selection of snacks on sale. Good variety in the candy selection, with nice sale prices. Holiday balloons and cakes were out for sale. Nice large summer umbrellas and other summer items out on shelves. Very clean store. They do have a small Asian product selection, found Gimme Seaweed Snack 5 Pak/ 8 slices each Pak $5.99. Nice option of flavors and low calorie snack 25 cal. I also enjoy the quality of the Signature Reserve Gourmet Chocolates/ 7 pc squares for $4.99. Good value found here. Simple checkout process, polite service. I recommend them. I was extremely grateful for mandarins that I got at this store. This Jewel had food items that I enjoyed. I appreciated having self-checkout kiosks. I was also able to get other important items at this store. I appreciated that the store had long hours, which was convenient for me. This is my very first time in IL and I'm a huge Mountain Dew fan. This morning I came in and got the pack & 2 tall can Hard Mtn Dews. So far the Baja Blast is a good, I'd probably rate it a 4/5. I can't wait to try the other ones!! As for the store, amazing! It was super cool, clean, and just overall looked nice inside. Definitely better than the markets in CA. The service there was great too, lots of friendly faces and attitudes. I'll definitely be stopping back in here before leaving back to CA. Just know I'll miss Jewel Osco forever lol!! read more

Uh, I have no polite response for you. Since the business replied, I'm going to add a few details. First: thank you for the response. Second: an employee up at the front had directed me to the back corner, through the double doors. That was where I encountered a man who identified himself as a manager and informed me that this was receiving. He went in to tell me that the only restroom ("in the whole building?" "Yes, in the whole building") was downstairs and I was not allowed downstairs. The guy standing next to that receiving manager added "you can go to chipotle down the road" and shrugged.. that's the way the interaction ended. Horrible customer service! They DO NOT greet customers coming in. I walked in to shop and an employee CHARLY MUNOZ was standing in the center of the walk way. I said excuse me, he did not move at all. No hello, no anything. Two other employees standing there also said nothing. Their deli keeps the salads out all day everyday, even overnight for 3-5 days straight causing the food to get hard. They do not wrap or cover the food and its very messy at 8am. They do not clean well, if they even clean at all. They store has little to no traffic, not very busy at all. This is a small neighborhood Jewel but it's close to my kid's karate school so I occasionally drop him off and swing by this Jewel instead of the larger one in River Forest. The produce selection is more limited than I'd like but otherwise I can usually get everything I need, or find a substitute. Bread is fresh. Staff is very nice. Daniel bagged my groceries last night and was especially helpful and proficient at his job. Nice work, Daniel! I used to work there & the first couple days i went i seen a rat in the basement where fruit gets prepared! and the fruit they be cutting like the berries especially the strawberrys Darene don't be washing them at all. i would work with her & she would just put them out in containers like that ready for customers to grab. it's disgusting bc strawberries be so dirty. they really need to check that place out especially if they got rats. read more

Do not go if you have any time constraints. Their checkout is the slowest possible. Recently they made it worse by shutting down checkout lines to put in self-checkouts that don't work. Rarely can you get through 3-4 items without it forcing you to wait for someone to help. With only one employee managing 8 stations, it's a major slowdown. This morning, however, those were not even open. Only 2 check out lines at all were open. When the person in front of me was being helped she actually commented on how slow the checkout was this morning and that she was actually late to work because of it. I concurred. Despite knowing that people were frustrated with the speed of checkout, the guy running the checkout decided that if the 4 hand​ baskets that were in the ​aisle to be put away, needed to be put away right then. There was no one else in the store he thought was appropriate for this, so he stopped checking people out to go put away the baskets. read more

I tend to only shop the sales and get the majority of my groceries down the street. The parking situation isn't the greatest at this Jewel location and the fact that you have to pay for bags now isn't ideal (the latter being a Chicago thing- I usually bring my own bags anyhow so no biggie) but man, the sales keep me coming back! I get this particular oatmeal that's not sold everywhere, and when it's on sale at Jewel it's way cheaper than anywhere else so I end up getting multiple boxes~ at least when someone else hasn't gotten to them all first lol. Oh, and when OJ is on sale (which is often) it's less than it is at my regular grocer so that's always a treat too. I even catch a sale every now and then on my favorite wine here! I usually do self checkout so not much interaction with employees, but they're pretty alright when I do converse a bit with them. Lastly, I've gotten some free/discounted items playing their yearly Monopoly game-haven't won the big bucks from that yet though! read more

Jewel-Osco has the market for flash sales on pantry staples. This week, they cut sweet potatos to only 29 cents per proud, making my mother quite happy. This store in particular has friendly staff, especially the generous woman operating the self-checkout. Due to our over-eager efficiency at the register, the screen kept popping up with the "did not back item" flashing sign of doom. However, the cashier barely batted an eye before typing in the code in milliseconds and swiping her card. We were home-free in just a few quick seconds. While they have a modest produce section, I would say the biggest draw here are the deals in all manners of produce, dried goods, and snacks. read more

I can't remember her last name, but she was THE most helpful lady I've ever run into in ANY jewel-Osco. I was given an option to take the survey, however I did not keep my receipt. I wish I had of because from the moment I walked in she wanted to help, and there was NO sign of reluctance... she legitimately wanted to help. Came here after Ultra Foods was out of pineapple, apparently "for the rest of the year." Jewel had about ten pineapples, and the one we picked was ripe and delicious! Plus, we saved a dollar on it with our preferred card! Produce is strangely in the back of the store, but we had a great experience getting some 'napple action here the other day! read more

Why would I write a review about a large grocery chain location? Well it's about familiarity. Over the years the OP/FP and Berwyn area has seen an influx of some really great grocery stores. Some of which are imo better than Jewel as far as prices and maybe section. But whenever I need something fast and don't feel like dealing with the crowds or traffic I always come to this particular Jewel. It's really not even the largest or nicest Jewel, but I know exactly where everything is and the staff are always very friendly. I can get in and out fast and get on with my day. read more

AVOID AVOID AVOID. Store is small and crowded and employees wear their face masks pulled down under their noses, uncovered. Customers are shoved together in a tiny space while waiting to pay. Homeless people stand at the door without masks begging for money. (If they're going to let them stand there on store premises, shouldn't Jewel at least supply the masks?) There has been NO effort made AT ALL to create more space near check-out lanes, such as using every other lane the way they do at Target and other stores, though there is room for this if they gave it 5 minutes' thought. Definitely a high-risk place if you are concerned about COVID-19. read more

How is it that there are several staff members, but two working the cashier section??? Lines are crazy long and even the self checkout takes a while. The chicken specials and the fact that there is a pharmacy are the best parts of the market. I must say the chicken is a hit or miss depending who is preparing that day. Beware .....7036 Roosevelt Jewel 3236 This store allows no masks to be worn. I've confronted the store manager(s)more than once and they state there's nothing they can do (Wrong!) I've also spoke to a few arrogant small minded people IN the store with no mask or gloves and they told me too bad for me and/or stay home. I've talked to the OP police and they said since it's private property they can't (read:won't) do anything. Is it the law or not? I've called Albertsons and lodged a complaint. Here's the answer, not brain surgery by the way; other food stores (and Binney's) post a sign and a guard : No Shirt No Shoes No Mask No service. This is Not customer safety first on the part Albertsons, just greed and cheapness. Been my Jewel since I moved to Berwyn over 10 years ago. Not the biggest Jewel in the area but sells everything I need.

I just waited in line for 10 minutes for a price check that was a $2.50 difference and it was a box of fruit snacks that they're workers apparently stocked in the wrong spot because it was about 10 of them in that spot and after I waited the cashier or supervisor never apologized and also said I got the wrong one! This isn't the first time my service was terrible here and if Ultra foods down the street wasn't gone I wouldn't even shop here. I called today just to see if maybe my credit card was turned in and as I'm on the phone she goes who do you want I'm like for one if you where listening to me I said I lost something not that I'm looking for something and too add it on she didn't even check too see if someone might of returned my card she just says no and I'm like well can you go check and She continues to say no. This is one of the most irritating Jewels in the area. Self check out is the only option you'll get before 9am. Ridiculous. So don't try and do your big shopping before the crowds get there, because you'll be scanning for hours, and receiving a register slamdown if you budge your groceries half a centimeter off the bagged area. And I thought my teenager was sensitive! Such a time waster! Pay the money, you cheapskate grocer, and hire a cashier for the morning! You ain't giving us discounts to self scan and bag our own groceries, so what's the benefit to us? Go elsewhere & save yourself the frustration. Shop sales ONLY. Produce not always fresh. You have to shop here often to know who is competent as many are not but they are still nice people. Again prices are way over and I have compared prices on identical items a lot! Even jewels sale prices can be more than reg prices at other stores. Also be sure to check expirations, esp in refrigerator sections as I have found post dates dozens of times they could give me a job. But if you shop sales and stick to it and for convenience (location) good store. But check out other grocers in area near by too. read more

The staff is so nice here! They always go above and beyond to help me find what I need and they're pleasant about it too! The store is clean, well organized and usually not too crowded. The parking lot offers plenty of spots, along with street parking if necessary! The fresh baked bread is worth every penny (especially if you get it hot!) and the cashiers are always so nice! Prices are a little on the high side, but I guess quality comes with a price, hm? read more

I had the worst experience ever coming to this location on Thanksgiving. I won a gift check in a raffle and was told i could use it at Jewel Osco. The check was from Butterball but did not expressly say butterball products. I asked the cashier named Melody who seemed annoyed and ready to go about the check and she was really loud and rude as if she was trying to embarrass me in front of the other guests. I checked out using my debit card. I immediately went to the manager who agreed I could use the check on my purchases. He went to the register and was met with a confrontational Melody who refused to check me out. He then got an attitude with me about the check but had already agreed to honor it. I was given over to Kandi Foy and met with the same aggression as Melody. It took an additional 5 min to check out the whole time being met with an incredible amount of attitude. I will never return here again as long as these 3 are allowed to distribute this terrible service for absolutely no reason. I never once got raised my voice or gave an attitude. All of this aggression was uncalled for as i have been to the location before without issue. I will share my experience on every review platform possible until it is addressed. read more

This is a fine smaller Jewel store. But what stands out are the cakes from the bakery. Outstanding taste and great value. I ordered a beautiful personalized 1/2 sheet strawberry filled chocolate cake for a party. It was just under $50. Everyone said it was delicious. read more
