I have been going to this Jiffy shop for at least 40 years, my beloved cousin and her family lived down and around the corner, we would order pizza , fried chicken , steak&cheese siubs, they use to have shoestring French fry's the were so good, I have recently stopped in this little neighborhood spot, The steak and cheese was just great, the only thing I could complain about was I stopped in and was hungry and ate in , the only thing that was wrong it was just so hot inside, I felt for the ladies and the one gentleman I saw , I ate half of the sub and took the rest back home. read more

My fiancé showed me this spot as he grew up in the area and omg it's sooooo good. Our favorite is the gyro and the pastrami sandwich. It comes with this hot pepper sauce which makes it really tastes. The subs are actually really big, reasonably priced and so so delicious. My family was in town for christmas and they made us go back again for sandwiches. My moms going to visit my brother in seattle and she made me buy him sandwiches lol. I live in Virginia and I will drive to get that pastrami MmMM. This is really more of a takeout place but they have tables if you dine in. This place is a gem. About a year ago a supervisor where I work recommended this place to my colleagues and I. After our first visit, we all fell in love and come back a couple times a month. When it comes to affordable take out, Jiffy Shoppes is as good as it gets. The food is made with care and tastes delicious! I typically get the Steak and Cheese Special, which costs about $9 for the sandwich, seasoned fries and a soda. Definitely well worth the money when you consider how good the food is. My coworkers have gotten the turkey burger and chicken cheese steak, and said those were solid choices as well. The staff is very kind and the food doesn't take more than 5-10 minutes to prepare. For those on a tight schedule, it might be worth ordering from your home/office a few minutes before driving over to minimize your wait time. I've got to say one more time that the food here is VERY good, and the main reason why I come back. Definitely check Jiffy out as soon as you can! read more

I went on monday for cheesesteaks and omg sooooo good. The steaks were great!! Not overstuffed with meat. I like to taste every ingredient so I appreciate the balance between meat, cheese and veggies. Fresh and nice texture to the roll. Not too crunchy but not so soft that it can't support the sandwich. The fries were perfectly seasoned!! I ate every last one. That's never happened before. And the Mambo sauce is a perfect sweet, tangy and spicy mix. Went there last Nite the Hubby and I were looking for a place that sells a good steakNcheese sub. Pulled up my yelp and found it. Was a little skeptical at first but usually all the good food places are in the hood. Walk in and it was your standard carryout. The owner was nice and the place was clean. We ordered 2 steakNcheese subs, 2 orders of seasoned fries and 2 slices of cake. Let me tell you the SUVs were the bomb. I have note had a steakNcheese like this ever. Not even my days in DC going to the famous Eddie Leonard's. The fries were good we didn't need to season them not even add ketchup. The cake was good. I'm thinking WOW my new place for subs, fries and cakes. I'm definitely going to try other things on their menu. read more

Small, random carryout place that doesn't stand out much among the dozens of other carryouts in this area. I'd read reviews from Yelpers that the steak and cheese was good, so stopped in yesterday to see. I ordered the large steak and cheese--with provolone, extra mayo, tomato, onion and hot pepper plus a side of fries. ($10) I was served an enormous sandwich (think bigger than a Subway 12-inch) that looked and smelled tantalizing! The onions were grilled and the hot peppers on the sandwich actually consisted of that relish-like red pepper mix. What stood out to me about the cheesesteak--and has been mentioned by others-- is that the quality of the meat they use is good. The steak was in no way rubbery or tough to chew and was pretty satisfying. My criticisms were that I don't think they put enough provolone on the sandwich for it to be called a CHEESEsteak. Also could have been served a lot more hot. I like my food hot. I actually was eating this cheesesteak in the car while waiting for my daughter to get out of school and found that as it got cold it began to taste like nothing and I had no desire to eat it. I finished almost half and saved the remains to maybe heat up and have later that night, but opted to just toss it. In sum, it was alright. Certainly not memorable. I kept telling myself I know I did a review for jiffy finally I realized I placed it on the wrong location so here is my original review : Service is friendly and accommodating. This places is tucked in a small strip mall . The décor needs updating but not much to expect for a carry out . The chicken cheesesteak is one of the best ! It was juicy and plentiful . The fries were also good. This is not a place I frequent so I cant speak for any other items as I have not indulged outside of my norm and probably wont. Worth a try if you are in the area. .............................................................................. Well I came here again and got the chicken cheesesteak and it was even better . I eat here regularly. Both their pizza and subs are dynamite. The Italian cold cut is my favorite. The meat and bread are always fresh. My favorite pizza is the sausage, pepperoni, onion and extra cheese. It's to die for. The prices are decent considering the quality of the food. They have good cakes as well but not worth $4 a slice in my opinion. I could bake a whole cake at home for that price. But overall, it's a great place to eat. My family and I have been eating there for as long as I can remember. I would definitely recommend it if you don't want to cook or go too far to grab a decent meal. read more

My mom told me about this carry out spot in District Heights when we used to live up there, and there Steak and Cheese is probably the closest to Philly then all of the other carry out joints in the DMV. The reason I give them a 5 out of 5 because of there customer service. I read their menu wrong thinking that a Philadelphia Hoagie was a Steak and Cheese, but it is a cold cut sub. They made me a extra Steak and Cheese free of charge. If this was any other carry out spot, they would of charge me for messing my order up. read more

One night, I decided to stop in and see what this carry out was all about. As you walk in, it's like any other carry out in the area, a couple seats and a counter with the kitchen behind it. I ordered a Steak and Cheese sub with some fries. Also had the Chicken Steak and Cheese. Now I was expecting the same ol' carry out sub you get from every other place, but this was actaully better. They used good quality meat (not the leftover steak that even when cooked STILL is rubbery like other places) which gave great flavor to the sub. All the fixings were fresh and the fries were...well....fries. Nothing close to a real Philly Cheese steak but 4 sure better than allot of other carry outs i have been to. read more
