A tale of two roofing jobs…read more It was the best of roofing jobs, it was the worst of roofing jobs. It was a messiest of roofing jobs, it was the cleanest of roofing jobs..... I live in the 'urban core' which is one way of saying the homes in my neighborhood are close together. About two months ago our neighbor had a new roof put on that was NOT with A New Rooftime. She didn't bother telling us. We came home to our front, side and back yard covered in shingles, shingle wrappers, nails and tar paper. I asked the workers if they were going to clean it up. Once they found the jefe that spoke English, he said they would. I was suspicious because the trucks they came in were junk and had nothing on the side of them. Not that that is needed but it's somewhat expected. Anyway, they didn't really clean up. They busted about four of a potting plants. We picked up best we could but are still finding the occassional shingle bit and nail. Last week, A New Rooftime came and did a nice job in no time flat. There was a bit of miscommunication in scheduling it (could have been my fault) but they were also in a hurry to get it done before a forecasted weekend of rain followed by snow. I coudln't be home for it. Neither could my wife. When we did get home, everything was done. Everything was cleaned up. I even have a beehive I told them about and it wasn't messed with at all. I spent some time outdoors and haven't found any of my old shingles in the yard or bushes...although I did find bits of my neighbors. It cost more than I wanted to pay but I'd waited too long to get it done and the damage was rather obvious. My fault but since I couldn't be there they did email some updates and things I needed to know about. I was really impressed.

So get ever little detail in writing The bid, the agreed upon work. This is why. The concrete work in places was very nice and in other places. iffy if it will last. This should of been another hint. I ask if they gave any type of warranty. Son replied I can guarantee it will crack. I was taken aback by this comment. Then they told my husband they would be back the next day to clean up and fill back in the dirt that they torn up around the concrete. Next day, no show. Weather was perfect for 5 plus days. No show . Finally a week plus later they show up. Do a really piss poor job and just throw excess dirt farther out into the grass Instead of taking it away. Then stomped it down. Turn grass side down into grass. It looked terrible. Then when we said something. Quote" from owner. We don't clean up ir fill back in."Wow. Seriously. Then he accuses us of shorting him money on our check. Every person who has ever received a check from someone has looked at it. So why didn't he say something then, why because he was lying. My husband made the mistake of paying them in full and they didn't want to come back and do the rest. Now we are using our hard labor, we are in our 60's to rake and try to repair our lawn in multiple areas. Plus buying dirt and sod . He should be paying us. So Pay a little more for a company that takes care of their customers. We even got them more business in our neighborhood.
