And, at least for the first half of 2022, it's…read morebeen even more of a challenge than normal as home prices have been increasing at unheard of rates, and people (myself included) were starting to worry that home prices - and interest rates - would become so high that we'd be priced out of even the 'worst' homes in the areas we were looking in. But what I didn't expect to be a challenge was finding a buyer's agent. Sure, I was shopping for homes the lower end of purchase prices - and at or near the height of the house buying frenzy, before interest rates got too high - but I still expected some level of service. Up until Stacey, however, my wife and I had gone through three or four buyers agents - including one with a multitude of five star reviews. And yet, each of them provided the same level of 'service' - maybe put us in their MLS database email, and then let us email or text with hopes that we might be lucky enough to see a property. (I kid you not - one agent cancelled three separate listings - two after my wife and I had traveled down and booked a hotel to see them - and a third listing that was being sold by the same firm she worked for.) Stacey did so, so much more for us. Yes, of course she but us in her MLS database too - there's nothing inherently wrong with that! What I liked, however, is that Stacey listened to us. She understood our needs vs. our wants (I guess I didn't absolutely need every room to have vinyl or wood flooring... but we definitely didn't want a manufactured home, for example). She was also realistic with us in multiple occasions - including letting me know we may have to deal with having a home that's part of an HOA (much to my chagrin), and, near the end of our search, letting us know that we might want to start looking elsewhere - given what we wanted and the homes we had seen and not liked. She also was quick to point out things that I'd either not notice or only notice after a long time - such as a house that had some extremely bad peeling stucco, or a house that was zoned as a condo to prevent any future additions/ADUs/etc. She was realistic about each neighborhood we were looking at as well. Stacey was also incredibly patient with us - as we often had our toddler son with us - we'd be late by 30 minutes or more, or we'd have a overly tired toddler in-hand - and Stacey never batted an eye. We made several offers with Stacey as well, and each time, she was very clear about what she thought would be a great offer, and I felt she did the best she could to get information out of seller's agents in terms of the overall offer situation. She was even understanding when my wife and I backed out of an offer at the last minute. And, suffice to say, she told us to look at the house we bought. This sounds counter-intuitive - because, of course she did! But, what I mean is this: This house had no staging done. It looked like it was on it's way to becoming a home on the show Hoarders. Stacey encouraged us to take a look anyway - because the home was in a phenomenal place to live (with insane school quality). And she was right when she told us that the home had potential - and the horrendously bad photos meant we were one of three offers, not one of twelve+ offers. The result: My wife and I bought a house in one of the most desirable places to live in the county, and our house appraised for MORE than we bought it for - in one of the hottest real estate markets ever. My wife and I can't thank Stacey enough for really coming through for us when so, so many other buyers agents hadn't. She's found what will hopefully be the forever home for our family, and she (along with her partner/associate, Jensen) are absolutely deserving of your consideration if you need a buyer's agent.
