We ate outside, and I would not want to do that on a very hot day. The service was wonderful, and the food that I had was great. They have a variety of crab legs and local seafood, all of which was very good. They also have lobster tails, but you have to specIal order them. There were 17 of us, so the outside area was perfect for us. We had 9 young children, and they thoroughly enjoyed playing in the field area that was next to where we were eating. It allowed us extra time to eat and try more of the deliciousness that they were serving. We felt that it was a wonderful seafood experience for our vacation. We especially enjoyed comparing the different types of crab legs, it was fun for all of us and we could not have asked for better service. I had a group of 10 with multiple kids looking for dinner. Decided on this location based on reviews, location and a beach advertisement. I was told the buffet was $65 and we must get at least half our party to get the buffet. 12 and 15 year old kids do not eat that much and did not get a discount. The food is ok and plentiful, but not presented in a fashion that made us feel it was a good value for the $. I personally witnessed fresh crab legs being brought out twice in the hour we were there so I'd say it's pretty fresh stuff! We decided to take the offer. very Poor decision the service was extremely slow. We had to ask for our drinks (tea, lemonade and water) three separate times. the lemonade tasted like dirty water, we had to refill our own tea and never received the water. We finally gave up And shared the tea. All of the food (buffet) was either luke warm or cold. We were excited for crab legs and lobster, both advertised. The crab legs were cold and inedible. We had to ask about the lobater because it was not on the bar. Our server told us they had to bring it out to us, which he did, at the end of our meal. I would like to add that we are from Charleston, SC and well-versed in good seafood. This place is just plain awful. I have waited an entire year to eat here. So excited to have something different than capt. G. We were sat very quickly and she hostess accommodated us at a good table. I came here for the fresh fish, oysters, and different crab legs. Everything was cold. I got some scallops, they were not even lukewarm. My husband does not eat much seafood so he got Shrimp and meat. Shrimp was not seasoned and everything else was cold including the meat. Jimmy's is a solid seafood buffet, by any standards. The food is good, the service is good and the price is fair. We go every year and will continue to keep it a tradition. They have something for everybody. Really enjoyed the bang-bang shrimp and key lime pie. The only negative is the set up or layout isn't the best. People are extremely aggressive and it's tough to maneuver your way around. It's not much on ambiance or frills. It's clean, they got what you need and it works. read more

DO NOT COME HERE, TERRIBLE SERVICE This review is not based on the food but the service. We were promptly seated by the hostess after being notified there was a table outside able to fit our party. Our waiter, Devon, promptly got our drinks orders. After a few minutes another waiter came in with another party and rudely told us that the table was already taken and she had already gotten their drinks orders. The other party clearly hasn't been seated nor did she get their drink orders. She was disrespectful and unprofessional to my friends and I. We were uprooted from our seats, and she told us to just sit at one of the picnic tables in the back. I do not think Devon was ever updated on the situation, it took the hostess seating another table beside us for her to notice that we hadn't been helped. We ended up leaving shortly after that cause clearly we did not want to give our business to them. Additionally there was only an online menu for people didn't want to do the buffet. My family and I went to Jimmy's on their Wild Wednesday. We did the online check in with yelp so the wait to be seated wasn't too bad. I highly recommend this place if you love seafood. This is not a fancy, sit down type of restaurant, but was nicely decorated and clean. They had over 10 different crab legs and lobster on the buffet along with a huge selection of other food. The seafood was steamed to perfection and the butter was hot. We had a very nice and attentive waiter. He was constantly refilling drinks and removing the buckets and plates of discarded shells. For the amount of seafood we ate, it was worth the price. We will definitely be returning in the future. read more

They've changed it up since the last time I was here. More seating (no more waiting lobby inside) covered waiting room outside. Plenty of parking. New items on the Buffett. Aside from the always available Alaskan crab legs they also have stone crabs and blue crabs. Or at least the claws!!! The best part in my opinion! Brought the newborn and they made sure to give me a spot that was big enough for a car seat and a diaper bag! It was wonderful. The desserts are amazing. No idea if they are made fresh or shipped in. After waiting over an hour for a crammed booth in the corner of the building, we were finally called and took our seats. 15 Minutes later our waitress greeted us asking if we wanted the buffet. After being assured the buffet was the way to go, we ordered and made our journey through a crowded, cafeteria like dining room to get in line for the buffet. Instead of waiting another 15 minutes for crabs, we decided to try some of the other options. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Soggy fish, under seasoned sides, and an empty dessert station. Not to mention, the buffet was $46 per person... The only thing worse than the food was the service. After getting our plates and sitting down, we waited again for utensils. With hot food sitting in front of us and my party growing hungry, I asked not one, but THREE staff members for utensils, only to be told that our server would bring them to us. Did this experience ruin my family's vacation? No. Will I ever consider stepping foot in this establishment again? Absolutely not. Don't make the same mistake I did. Let's start by saying this buffet is very expensive- over $600 for our party of 12 including 2 kids. You are promised lobster claws and Dungeness crab but neither was anywhere to be seen. There apparently is an early rush on those long before 5:00. Anyway there is some food that tastes okay but this is a very unclean establishment. I had read before we went that someone's mom got food poisoning and disregarded this feedback and sure enough my sister got so sick after eating here, which put a real downer on our Outer Banks trip. At least the other 11 of us escaped unscathed. Don't risk spoiling (pun intended) your stay at these very expensive OBX houses by rushing for some highly overpriced crabs. Eating at Jimmys was fantastic! There are very few places that have all you can eat crabs that don't try to skimp on you. Jimmys is one of those places. The service was fantastic, the waitress constantly asking if we needed anything. We went on Monday night which was AYCE lobster tail as well and she keep the tails coming even before we had finished the previous one. It's a AYCE restaurant in OBX. My entire crew, 15ppl, drove 40minutes. We arrived the venue just to be turned down. They told us, we passed 8pm, by showing up at 8:10pm. And they won't be able to accept any customers after 8pm.
