Fantastic old school machine shop tucked away in the industrial part of Redwood City. We have been trying to restore an old school aviation flightline CO2 extinguisher. The problem is these thing are built to withstand a nearby thermonuclear blast and removing the iron wheels had defeated our best efforts. We tried heat, a gear puller, and yes the tried and true sledge hammer with no avail. Even drilling out the center did not work. We needed either a giant assed drill or a press to get that sucker out. So after a quick Yelp search I headed down to see if they could help. Drilling was out due to the size of the wheel, but they did have a large 60 ton press. Took alot of force to get it out but they did just that. Service was friendly and personable, and they got to work right then and there. Prices were fantastic as well. I brought in two Toyota spindles for a Special Product Company ball joint switch. The boob tech switched the ball joint and ruined the rubber boot. After I returned and asked for a refund the boob tech told me to leave. Jim's machine shop does bad work that they don't stand behind. Be careful or you could get it in the behind the way I did. I am going to file a small claims court law suite. read more

Was looking for a new machine shop to resurface my flywheel. Searching by typing in "machine shop" didn't return any useful information. I called a local auto repair shop to see if they had any leads and got a recommendation for Jim's. I called to get a quote and was really surprised with how reasonable it was compared to other shops. When I got there I was greeted by Toby and Phil. Toby got started on my flywheel right away and was finished in less then 30 minutes. They are setup to do all kinds of engine work and the usual machine shop jobs. read more
