Hungry and in the Mill Park area? Head to Tian's Sushi and Noodle Bar…read more Tian's may be located behind Hungry Jacks in a tiny row of nondescript stores but that shouldn't deter you. You are welcomed warmly by staff even on your first visit and the food will make you return time and time again. They make sushi to order which ensures it is as fresh as possible, in fact it is the freshest and tastiest sushi I have had, and I have tried a lot. The vegetarian gyoza's make a great entree but be warned, you will want more then one serving. The noodle servings are generous and freshly made, the Singapore noodles filled with tasty ingredients including fresh and plentiful prawns. No matter how much you gorge yourself you feel vaguely healthy, despite being at bursting point. This is the antidote to greasy food court noodles. Sure the decor is noodle shop standard no-frills but it is immaculately clean so what else could you want? Great value, great service and fresh and good quality food. Eat in or take away but just make sure you eat here.

The staff are always friendly and helpful and the food is delicious and affordable. I will say the interior of the restaurant itself is a little grim, though it is very clean it's not a very inviting place to sit and eat your lunch or catch up with friends over dinner. They excel when it comes to take away (pick up) great food at a very affordable price!

Ever since going to Hong Kong I have had a hankering for proper Chinese food. This isn't the food that you find at the Chinese stall in the food hall, but rather a restaurant owned and run by Chinese, and the worse their English, the more authentic the restaurant tends to be. Okay, it's not Hong Kong, but then again unless you are willing to put aside a week to travel there and back, these restaurants are probably the best that you are going to get. This certainly wasn't a bad restaurant. The staff were ever friendly, and it certainly seems popular, and they also have chop-sticks, which for me is an absolute must when it comes to eating Chinese food. The cool thing about these restaurants is that they have pictures of all the dishes, so you can just flick through the menu and point to the dish you want. However, be careful not to make the mistake that I made and point to the wrong one because you might end up with a meal that you don't particularly like. Oh, I better not forget, they also have pots of Chinese tea for $1.00 each, which is also pretty cool.

Ok so the Noodle Kingdom in Preston has a few noticeable differences from its city sister. Theres…read moreno fancy red and gold wallpaper and theres no suits. The clientele is mainly Preston locals and the destination diners. The menu is exactly the same and I am grateful for this. Over lunch and weeknights this place experiences the same peak hour rush as the city Noodle Kingdom but due to the suburban location of this restaurant theres a slightly more relaxed vibe. Its not unusual to see people waiting five deep in a queue for the freshly prepared dumplings and noodles. I've already detailed my fetish for their dumplings and the no 29 (beef/noodles) however you can add the no 94 (fried chicken/noodles) and beef skewers to the list. The beef skewers are a grilled/spiced cummin delight and great to chew on. Prices are cheap and the service is blunt, this place delivers consistently great food, however a word of warning, go easy on the chilli.

Advised phone order ready in 20 minutes but 45 minutes later it's still not ready but advised it will be another 5 minutes. 15 minutes later food is still not ready (over an hour now) and in frustration I demand a refund which was initially refused and advised it will be another 5 minutes. I advise the owner(s), be honest with your customers, don't lie and tell them it will be 20 minutes when it is really 45 minutes to an hour. His reply instead of offering a remedy is, 'leave and never come back'. Go elsewhere, I did and the meals were ready in 15 minutes (not 1 hour and still waiting at Preston noodle).

In fact eating here gives me the feeling that I'm actually eating in your standard Mong Kok street side restaurant, which is basically what I mean by no-frills. Okay, it's not classy, but they do give you some very generous servings, the food its really cheap, and the staff are super friendly. Actually, the serving I got was so large that I had to take it home in a doggy bag (which they were more than obliged to do). Oh, they don't serve alcohol, and they only take cash, but at least there is an ATM next door.
