I expected that the so called "best art school in Great Britan would be an exceptionally run…read moreinstitution, filled with young dedicated and well educated artists, driven faculty members and general order. What I found was the exact opposite, a disgrace to the fine art world. I could literally go on and on about the failures of this school, but instead I'll just summarize the key issues I have 1. no structure, no pressure, no expectation results in little to no production of artwork. The school seems to advertise a pride in the independence it provides its artist with but it fails to really make clear that literally anyone can pass with out ever showing up. As a matter fact, the faulty are so lazy that they don't even bother to show up on time for literally anything. They don't enforce rules and they don't understand their students. There are no assignments, no expectations and no structure. 2. The cleanliness of the place is repulsive, the facilities are horrid, they are not up to date of creative materials and machines for making. The students disrespect their peers work spaces and they disrespect the building as a whole. they literally believe that they own the place, that they can make it just as filthy as their drugged up lifestyle. 3. There is no learning, no educating and no positive actual encouragement If a student were to draw a stick figure on their Starbucks coffee cup, a faculty member passing by would literally just be like " that's fantastic, you're so creative, be yourself and keep up the good work" This is not a place for anyone who truely cares about art and wants to further educate themselves on art making, the art market, art and even just understanding how to be an adult and behave responsibly in this world. This is a place to go If you have a lot of money and want to paint a couple abstract paintings that resemble American expressionism of the 1940s. I have considered studying here and even went to the open day recently but I wasn't really impressed with the layout and what they had to offer. In a few years they are moving to a bigger campus in Kings Cross which is a shame as it's currently in a great location in central London. They have a plaque on the wall at the reception stating that the Rolling Stones played here in 1970 something, Perhaps it was a more happening place back then.

That aside, yes, I currently attend CSM and am finding it to be everything I expected and more. I'm working on my Masters. The learning opportunities at the college seem to be almost boundless. The course leaders have been exceptionally supportive, and their continuing experience in their fields strengthens their obvious, relevant expertise. All of which, they bring into the classroom in a genuinely compelling way. I'm getting to know the other students in my programme, which has been going well. It's a diverse group! Conversations and group work has been interesting and often fun. How will I feel by the end of this year? Who knows? But so far I'm appreciating my time there and want to make the most of it.

Camberwell's a well known and well renowned art school in South East London that's part of the…read moreUniversity of the Arts London. In the front is a space that is used for shows by alumni of the college and the college itself is contained to three buildings joined by corridors and bridges. It's a nice place to be and work, although the current SU bar is just a bar at the back of the canteen, there's nothing to really distinguish it as a bar. No nights or music goes on here as of yet, but there may well be in the future once the bar facilities are sorted out.

Although the teacher had given some good tips - the majority of the two and a half hours, you will be drawing with no further attention. The room is fairly cramped and there is a boisterous dog barking throughout. Most importantly, the customer service is atrocious. I was unable to attend the remaining lessons that year. When I contacted them, I got the impression that they were not interested in giving me the lessons I had paid for. Although the terms and conditions stipulated a deadline for all lessons, there was s distinct lack of flexibility. Despite there being very little effort for them to even let me attend one or two more. They threatened to go to my employer when I told them I was likely going to given them a bad review. Terrible.

It is one of the most reputable, and many of the established designers and fashion experts have learnt their craft here. I studied two part time courses in both the John Princes Street and Davies Street colleges and absolutely loved them. The teachers know the industry inside out and their expertise comes from actively working in fashion so you can be assured that you are learning from the best. There is an amazingly addictive creative buzz as everyone is immensely enthusiastic about what they do and you truly learn the meaning of the phrase 'passion for fashion'! The facilities are great, including top range and current IT equipment and an extensive resource library at John Princes Street. The college also often holds industry led conferences and seminars. I also predict that the people who attend the London College of Fashion are the most colourful - you are sure to see an amazing selection of obscure (yet fashionable as hell) outfits and hair cuts!

On the Princes street campus there is the best library I've ever come across, and they have a great selection of computers with loads of great software programs installed in both Princes and Davies street. The Hub in Davies st is the bar/cafe and does really cheap food and drink. I usually go for a bagel with cheese, chicken and pesto which costs £1.70, total bargain. Just outside the Hub is The Arts Gallery, University of the Arts London, 65 Davies Street, W1K 5DA. Here they have loads of different exhibitions of up and coming artists which is free for all UAL students.

Regardless, the reason the London campus isn't that amazing is because the area might make it seem dreary. It is located in an urban setting outside of London city where oxford circus might be. You have to take into consideration that the professors have to go outside of their way to come to school and teach while maintaining their own jobs. Yes they have bad days, and yes they may have seem to have an "attitude". But in a school geared toward fashion and business, you have to keep a backbone and marangoni makes it that much stronger. Back to the school.....among it's achievements....it has designed the mercedes glk.....it has two other campuses in Milan and Paris who are in fact known worldwide as one of the top design schools in Europe. It is a private institution therefor it is pricey. Rewards are great. Teachers come from all over the world and have jobs among some of the most noted designers in history and have went to some of the best colleges in the world. The students and "teachers" are opinionated but for good reason. Obviously because of high standards. Most students come from wealthy backgrounds. I attend school at the paris campus and find it elegant, refined, ahead of it's time, and the environment is perfect. We know fashion....we live it....breathe it, and piss it. We are "bitches". But at the end of the day, we put aside bitchiness in order to make good design and money. Say what you will about the arrogance and the price of tuition. We're here to design. And we are damn good at it. If you want to jump on our boat.....you better not get sea-sick easily.
