Started at 12:30 noon and ended at 7:15pm, went on a quieter Tuesday, from observation it looked they had ~3 other ladies getting their hair coloured and stayed for just as long also, and a few haircuts in between scheduled. Their weekends are crazy, try to avoid if you plan to colour full dye your hair for best service :). Jack & Tony helped bleach the shaft of the outgrowth and blend btwn the virgin to bleach transition in my hair, then Jason helped handle the roots in detail. Then colouring by Jack & Tony, hair cut and styled by Jason. The two female assistants (couldn't get their names but they were very kind) were gentle on the hair washing for sensitive scalps. Been bombarded with compliments on Instagram the same night. Couldn't be happier with the result! Thanks JMY team Tip them well! PS. The conditioner they use (élaboré super hair pack) is top tier for bleached hair. Get your hands on these if you can! I scheduled an appointment for a balayage online two weeks prior. I sent in my photos to their IG and was given a price estimation. I was made aware at my appointment that balayage isn't suitable for me considering my current hair color. This would've been nice to know beforehand. I had to scramble on the spot to choose a hair dye that I wouldn't mind. Overall, the appointment took 5 hours. I was in the area for vacation and figured I'd get a haircut since it's hard to find a good hair stylist in the States. Called around noon on a Monday to see if they have any openings for walk-ins and they did. I'm glad I went, the vibe was very modern and minimalistic. I had Tony as stylist and he did a wonderful job with cutting my hair meticulously and made sure even tho I didn't want to thin out my thick hair he made sure I walked out with a full head of hair but lightweight. I came here a few months ago to get my hair dyed to blonde. I am very satisfied with the results. This was my first time going this light and I'm literally so in love with my hair colour. Even after so many months, the blonde still never faded or turn brassy like my previous hair colours. It still looks as amazing as the first day I got my hair done. And somehow my hair is even more healthy than it was previously, my hair use to be so dull and lifeless but now it's so shiny and smooth. They were very busy, when we walked in, there were three other clients in various stages of cutting and dying their hair. We brought a picture to show/video, then got the hair cut, then the stlying. It was my first time coming to this salon. The salon looked clean and the interior is very nice. Never have I ever been to a salon where the hair wash station chairs were as comfortable as these ones. The head massage felt amazing as well. Jack was my stylist. He wasn't able to understand English but the receptionist was amazing at communicating what I wanted. He took his time with cutting my hair and I was absolutely satisfied with the end results. Came here today to try out the colouring service...all these photos posted but no customer reviews left me curious. I booked though yelp with Stephanie a couple weeks prior. Located within splendid china mall, it is a busy little salon...I arrived at 1130 and left at close to 5 and seats were always occupied with many people getting colour or cut. They're a very popular salon indeed, surprised there are so few reviews but I LOVE my hair colour. Jason is a very serious guy and he was thoughtful and offered options and gave me an idea of what I would be able to achieve from the instagram photo of a light brown balayage I showed him. Jason oversaw the whole Process and did the bleaching portion himself while Stephanie added the colour/toner. I liked that they used olaplex considering how damaging the bleaching would've been to my very fine processed hair. The olaplex kept it soft:) The result was exactly what I wanted, a beautiful blonde, ash brown and some warmer toned balayage and he styled it for me at the end with some large curls:) 5 hours of sitting well worth it...they offered me some water in between as well. Found this salon through Yelp with such high ratings and reviews and let me tell you, they do not disappoint. Got a balayage + cut done with Jason. ($180 Total) Very friendly, gentle and honest. I originally wanted to go in for a blonde balayage but Jason recommended me to do something without bleach at first since it was my first time dying my hair. Ended up using a lightener for a soft warmer brown and still looks like a beautiful balayage. He's very patient and took his time to carefully paint each strip of hair perfectly. My first time going here. I read yelp reviews and everyone said they had a good experience here. For me it was okay. The person who cut my hair his name is Jack. He doesn't speak English, but he speaks mandarin. The lady who washed my hair was nice and she did a good job, I felt comfortable and relaxed. Women's haircut $38 (wash & cut). Even though on yelp it said you can walk in and don't need to book appointment. They prefer you to book an appointment with them. I had an okay experience. I came to this place after thoroughly searching for a good colourist. And all I can say is WOW! First off the salon is so nice and they really look after you. Jason was so patient and understanding of how I wanted my hair and he did an amazing job. I have dry hair and was worried about bleaching it but he took such good care of my hair it doesn't even look damaged. I went from brown to silver and I couldn't be happier! Would definitely recommend this place. I went here for hair colouring. My natural hair is black but I went in with dyed brown hair that had a very red/orange tone. I wanted to dye my hair a lighter brown and get rid of the orange in my hair. I was sure I couldn't go any lighter than my current hair colour without bleach. Somehow they found a way to achieve the ashy light brown colour I wanted without bleach. The staff are all very kind and offered me a snack and refreshments while I got my hair done. My first time going here. I was looking for a salon to do a balayage/ombre. I was searching through Yelp and discovered this busy little salon located in Splendid China Mall. My appointment was for 3:30 pm, but since it was busy, we started at 4:00 pm. I had Jason as my stylist and he was amazing! He was very honest about the whole process and made sure you were knowledgeable about what he was going to do with your hair. He gave me a long layered cut and feathered in a brown colour. Jason and Stephanie also washed and styled my hair wavy which I loved so much. He recommended not to go too light the first session so I will definitely be going back. Joe also did my mom's hair at the same time, giving her a perm and style. Both our processes took around 3-4 hours but it was worth it. I came here through the great reviews on Yelp but honestly guys I wouldn't recommend this salon. This is like a booth within Splendid China mall and within the first few mins of my appointment Jason was busy blow drying his own hair while a lady set up the mixtures and finally after my first 35 mins they were ready to paint my hair. I understand it's a balayage and the process takes long but they assured me the lightener would get me same result without bleaching. During the process though Jason would do 25% then leave to do another client's hair, come back and do another 25% and repeats on. By the end of my appointment, Jason went through at least 4-5 different customers when putting me on hold. Finally when all my hair had product on it, I waited almost 2 hours cz my hair was "too black" so he repeatedly kept putting the timer on for longer. I got to the salon by 11am and left there by almost 4pm with my hair being barely an ombré when asking for a caramel balayage. If you want a person that's dedicated to your hair and knows how the product will affect your specific hair in order to get a desired look I wouldn't recommend this place for a balayage. That being said I do believe their wash, cut, and style is pretty good. read more

I'm giving j & j salon a ZERO for such a traumatic experience!! I made an appointment for light ash blonde balayage and jason quoted me a ridiculous price of $400+ for a balayage alone?! Then I was about to get a haircut, but a kid eating a burger in short proximity next to me (this salon is very tiny and not at all high end) when I was about to get my hair washed started crying piercingly loudly, that I bolted outta there! Apparently this salon is also a daycare. This is not a place where you can get a relaxing service. It is ridiculously way overpriced and stressful in my honest opinion. read more

I went here a few times for my haircut and honestly, they weren't that bad. For the most part, I think I stopped going just because I felt like I disliked my haircut the more I went. The first time (I think back in like gr 6 which is like YEARS AGO LOOL BUT WHATEVS), I got my hair cut by the sifu? I REALLY loved my hair then. It was probably one of my fav haircuts of all time. HE WAS PRETTY SKILLED. Like he had like a bunch of scissors around his waist. Just hardcore af. The second and third time I went, I think he was either busy or not here, so I got my hair cut by some female. Hated it. It's obvious she wasn't as skilled as the sifu but damn man. I really didn't like my haircut and also, she pointed out to never cut my own hair again LOOOL WHICH WAS LIKE WOW DAMN DID I DO SUCH A BAD JOB TO HEAR SUCH A THING (it's actually so funny though cause when I gave myself a haircut, someone complimented me for it ?!?!? LOL) So yeah anyways, I never really came back. One good thing I must say is that they give out some pretty bomb hairwashes. I think they occasionally give head massages and it's absolutely divine.
