Jo Jo can make a meeeean breakfast, that's for sure. I went to this place looking for a diner-style breakfast with a side of charm, and that's what was served up. My grandpa lives about two minutes away, so it's an easy place for us to meet for breakfast since he doesn't have to drive too far. My mom and sister joined in this time as well, and I was happy to see we could get a table right away. This place is extremely tiny... about 7-8 tables... so go early! The atmosphere is a tad chaotic due to a tiny staff, but I actually enjoyed watching everything that was going on around me. Coffee was served up right away, and while it wasn't the best I've ever had, it was enough to kick-start my day. The menu has all of the classics on it, and I decided to go with two eggs over a medium, hash browns, and a side of sausage. My mom also ordered pancakes for all of us to share, for which I was so thankful... especially when blueberry syrup was brought over. Everything tasted fresh and just like grandma makes, and there wasn't a clean plate left on the table. The best part was when our server told us she brought the hot sauce we were using from home since she had extra. Not the most sanitary-sounding comment I've ever heard, but it just kind of completed the greasy diner experience for me. Cheap food, big menu, personable wait staff, and classic charm. I'll certainly be back!

So after reading an article on stltoday.com yesterday & as I'm always looking for good breakfast places I saw Jo Jo's as one of the top diners in St. Louis. So this Saturday morning a buddy of mine & I decided to try it. Well I was totally impressed. The service was spot on & then the food was outstanding. They even have grits which you can't get up in these northern parts of the US although I am a St. Louis boy. Even though I wasn't worried about the bill because I was totally satisfied but it was pretty inexpensive with all the food we ordered. Can't wait to get back & highly recommend it if you like old style breakfast & service.

Food was awesome! We went in on a Saturday and it was busy, had to go up and ask for a menu which was fine. The wait was well worth it

There was a new person training; however she did a great job taking our order. We chose to dine in. NOTE: it's a very small dining room. Only seating for 10-12 people. We received both our orders (and they were correct) within a few minutes. I had the firecracker chicken with sweet chili sauce, which came with ravishing rice. (At first I thought my chicken was on a bed of carrots, but it was actually the rice - it is ORANGE. I did not detect a distinct flavor so perhaps it's orange due to food coloring. I'll ask next time. He had chicken tenders with honey bbq sauce and fries. Everything was prepared well and was hot, fresh and flavorful. The chicken in both dishes was crispy on the outside and tender inside. Our meals totaled around $25. Sounds like a lot, but I had so much food that there is enough for a second meal. We WILL go back because the food was good, plus the menu is huge and there are other interesting items we'd like to try.

But after an intense Costco trip, we were wanting a hearty sandwich. They are located in a strip mall, where they are many other busy businesses so parking can be a little tough. But going in, they were packed! Tip to tail, it was just people trying to get their food. And, that was us waiting a while to come in to pick up our goods. So, absolutely order ahead because it will make it somewhat easier. We ordered: The JD Cold Shoulder - cold cuts on a garlic roll with chipotle ranch. My husband loved his, and glad he ordered it with the garlic roll. Joe's Spicy Italian - this was spicy and sweet, and it really hits when you love a good spicy italian sandwich. You can choose your bread, and I opted for mine to be on a French roll. Great sandwiches, long wait, but just really good and worth the wait!

I ordered the Let's Go Blues BBQ Beef. It was a pretty tasty sandwich. The crunch of the peppers helped add some needed crunch to the otherwise softer sandwich. The BBQ flavor wasn't too prominent, and it wasn't too spicy. It was a great sandwich that came with a side of au jus, but it just wasn't my favorite.
