First time going to a Joann's store. I loved it! My friend and I had a great time shopping around. The store was very neat and organized. We were searching for cotton fabric to build keychain wristlets. We were able to find stunning patterns. Being new to sewing from my small business I am launching I had no idea what sizes of fabric I needed. I almost bought a yard of each pattern and Jojo the employee there was so kind to help me. He explained to me how fabric sizing works. He helped me get exactly what I needed and some more in case I make mistakes. Thank you thank you! Was in the store yesterday to buy a sewing machine. Did not have any of the four that I was interested in purchasing. For each and every sewing machine I attempted to purchase I was told Rohnert Park has it. It's just a short drive. Attempted to purchase some additional items which seemed, ridiculous given that I would have to go to another store in Rohnert Park to get the main thing I attempted to purchase. You failed to realize it was just a short drive to your store, so I really didn't want to take an additional drive to Rohnert Park. I can go on Amazon and buy anything you sell without having to take any short drives. I would do yourselves a favor and close the Santa Rosa store if it's nothing more than a referral center for the Ronan park store. my sewing machine arrived from Amazon. Used to love coming when I was younger. Things have unfortunately changed. Went in a couple days ago to pick up some fabric and a women named Antoinette who cut my fabric was being very micro aggressive throughout our entire interaction. Her tone was rude and spoke to me as if I was incompetent. I noticed other customers who did not look Hispanic like myself receiving nicer customer service. When I let her know that her demeanor was very serious she responded "that's how you get the job done". How disappointing to see someone of her age feel the need to make others feel uncomfortable in order to get her job "done". Word of advice. Let go of staff like this because business will be lost. Firstly I am a consistent shopper here. I have three children and often come in to purchase products for arts and crafts to entertain them . I also keep myself busy with crafts. We live really close to this store which is why it's often my first choice to look for materials. Rather than driving all the way to Santa Rosa ave and go to the Michaels. Or waiting for an Amazon order. My experience today was awful. Granted it was very busy. Busier than I've probably seen it before. I had two kids in tow, we weren't on a huge time crunch. We waited for quite awhile to get our fabric cut, which was fine. We were chatting with the other customers. This was my first interaction with Anna Jeanette. I asked if she could check to see if they had any lemon fabric. She said she wasn't able and to "ask them" the other associates who were busy cutting fabric. She seemed annoyed I was asking her a question. So I wait and ask and get that squared away. Then I proceed to search the store high and low for clothes pins and a stepping stone kit. Spent a good 20 mins. I don't see one associate so I walk to the front and ask if there is anyone to help on the floor. The curt response is " we're all just cutting and ringing to save our lives. Everyone in line gives a weird look. My thought is, I'm trying to spend more money here?! Finally we get in line and she is also our cashier. The interaction was rushed and stressful and dismissive when asking about coupons. Don't get me wrong I work in customer service. I have worked in nice restaurants my whole life. I get what it feels like when you're busy. But it doesn't allow you to be rude to people. Her demeanor was uncomfortable. Either they need to staff better on busy days or put someone in charge that doesn't frazzle so easily. I doubt I'll be back solely because I don't wanna be treated like that at a place I spend a lot of money at every month. read more

The Online Joann is a nightmare I can't get the right number of yards I need. Drapery lining was only in multiples of 10! I had to buy way more than I need eliminating any savings with discounts and coupons Then a notion was reduced to 2 yards not enough for my project since it had to be multiples of 2. I've been coming here constantly recently, I have had no problem with the staff here (so far); But sadly, if you're looking here to buy any sort of ribbon, there isn't really a huge selection. As someone who uses ribbon all the time, I've constantly came here for the past month to see if there's any ribbon i could use, and their selection looks the same all the time. Well I have to be honest here the only reason I go to this Joann Fabrics Is because I do not have any other choice. The other fabric store in town close down, and the next city Rohnert Park is the only place to really get any decent craft supplies, yarn, glue sticks,scrapbooking supplies as well as fleece fabrics and other crafty bits and pieces. And the staff are usually helpful and knowledgeable and great at using all kinds of coupons for the savings. The only issue with this store is the fact that it's small and often doesn't have the items that I need. They lost to star by having Valentine's Day items fully stocked on the shelf and hardly any Christmas items and this was a week ago and Christmas is an even here yet! Their sales can often be confusing and they don't always change the price tags when they are supposed to. read more

Currently all JOANN's locations are available for in-store pick up only, meaning, shop online, pick up the order when it's ready. The hours for this store are 12:00 - 5:00pm. I have placed 11 JOANN's orders within the last month and a half, and every single order I've placed at the Santa Rosa location has been ready within 24 hours. If you're trying to decide whether to ship your order to Santa Rosa or Rohnert Park, if you want/need your order ready in a reasonable amount of time, CHOOSE SANTA ROSA. Everything about the Santa Rosa location is better than Rohnert Park. The pick up hours are longer, the orders are ready sooner, and since the Santa Rosa location is in a nearly barren parking lot, you can drive right up to the front door and wait in your car for them to come to you. At the Rohnert Park location, you have to find a space in the still crowded lot, and walk up to the door. This isn't a huge inconvenience, but still, team Santa Rosa all the way. I am still stunned from my experience yesterday. I am not a sensitive person and have always believed calm words solve miscommunications, however that did not work in this situation. I am not from Santa Rosa and drove over an hour to do do some shopping. The front door of Joanns was open, maybe they wanted some fresh air in the store? I walked in, right past the cashier at the front checkout area. I noticed the store was quiet and filthy, product piled up, bolts of fabric on the floor, drifts of dust bunnies. I looked back at the cashier because I wondered if maybe they were closed? It didn't feel right. She didn't say anything and I didn't ask because it felt like a stupid question given the front door being open, so I proceeded to the cutting area, looking for what I needed. I saw several people in masks who I assumed were other customers. It felt off, like a twilight zone version of Joanns. A women began yelling down the aisle asking if I worked there. I wasn't sure if she was another customer looking for help or an employee. I said "no, do you?" She began yelling, this is not an exaggeration hyped up for sympathy. She yelled at me to leave the store immediately or she would call the police and have me thrown out. I was STUNNED. Her hostility was intense. She continued to yell that they were not open to the public and if I didn't get out she would have me arrested. My jaw must have been hanging open like an idiot because i didn't know how to respond. I told her the door was open and I didn't realize they were closed and I would, of course, leave. I was trying to diffuse the situation which had escalated in less that 2 seconds. It was terrifying. She was terrifying. I was so confused, caught off guard and freaked out. I was treated like I had broken into the store and so I was trying to explain that the door was open, not so she would let me shop but to get her to stop shouting at me and making threats. She was clearly not interested in hearing my explanation and rushed at me, cut me off and continued to threaten me. As I was making my way to the front door she pushed up behind me, way too close (clearly ignoring social distancing) and again said she would call the police. I gave her no reason to think I wasn't leaving, I gave her no reason to threaten me. She was close enough for me to feel unsafe and in danger. In hindsight, what could she have done to me? Nothing, but the intensity and physical proximity was very intimidating in that moment) It was a very disturbing, scary, and uncalled for situation. I have never had an experience like this. Ever. I walked to my car, shaking, I was made to feel like a criminal for the simple reason that they left the door open. I had been verbally attacked, criminalized, and threatened. The right thing for them to do would have been to say "so sorry, we aren't open to the public. we shouldn't have left the door open, I can see how that would be misleading, have a nice day." This is what a normal professional representing a huge chain store should have done. The manager at this location is taking a risk by employing people with this type of unprofessional and socially unacceptable behavior. Heaven help us if that was the manager! I wish I had gotten her name, I am so grateful my kids weren't with me. read more

So I was shopping here and I happened to find an item with no tags on it and still wanted it. I continued to the front of the store for checkout as usual to ask for a price on the item with the other items I was carrying to checkout. Right as I got up here an older white woman wearing the uniform came up and loudly announced that I was stealing in front of other customers. And the cashier, her name was gaby, covered for her when I had asked why? Very humiliating considering that I am a woman of color and by myself. When I asked for her name she refused and played it off like she didn't know what happened or who I was talking about. Five Stars for Dani during the early stages of the Covid Reopening. She was so nice and very helpful when curbside pick up was first offered. She was out in the heat of the day running to get people their items. She was new and was awesome. Cleaning carts and workimg hard! I am disappointed when they stopped doing providing "Curbside Pick-Up." They offer "Curbside," but you still have to go in the store. That is not what "Curbside Pick-up," means. They no longer clean carts outside and I do not see limiting the amount of people who go into the store. The isles are very small. You have to nearly brush up on other customers if they try to pass you. I make a quick turn around, but just won't go in there anymore. Person who cut my fabric cut it crooked. This 5-star review is for Erin and all the staff, who are knowledgeable, helpful, courteous, and friendly. Erin helped me figure out the right fabric to use for my project, and when I needed more of a specific fabric than was on the bolt, Erin called another nearby Joann's to make sure they had enough, came and found me when the other store called back, and had them hold it for me. The Joann chain deserves ZERO stars; stores are always understaffed, employees are overworked, and most are working part-time, low-wage, no-benefit, and no-fixed-schedule. Here's a quote from their job listing: "Part-time Team Members are generally scheduled to work less than an average of 28 hours per week... and are not guaranteed any particular number of hours per week. I've come in to this store twice this year. The store is dirty with boxes and tripping hazards all over and completely unorganized. This is the second time I have gone up to purchase yarn that was marked on sale and get to the register to find that it was miss marked. This time I was actually granted the 25% off. I bought 100$ worth of yarn and was expected to carry it out without a bag, when I asked for a bag I was given a small bag that fit only half my items. When done checking out, the cashier did not bag my items I was expected to bag my own items and had to ask for a second bag while several customers waited in line behind me. If you can avoid this store do so, shop local elsewhere, I will not be back. read more

I'm back again in a desperate search for thread in a hard- to-find color. Why can't someone open a decent fabric store in Santa Rosa? The trash can that was overflowing in a ten foot radius, followed by a selection of items that no-one would ever want didn't improve my entrance to Jo-Ann's. It shouldn't be necessary to take a deep breath before entering a store. Jo-Ann's is a chaotic overflow of craft stuff (not my first word choice) hiding some quality and useful items. Man, I am torn about this place. Pros: Lots of great coupons -- if you plan ahead, you can get a very good deal. They have a decent selection of fabrics, but I think the selection at the Rohnert Park store is better. Some employees are very knowledgable & helpful. (Hint: they are older than 30.) Cons: Hate the layout, especially the huge "wall" you encounter when you walk in the store -- how unwelcoming can you be? Emphasis on crafts and junky crap. They could expand and upgrade their fabric selection. Many employees can't be helpful because they don't know much about sewing! During my last visit a few days ago, one employee didn't know that such a thing as mid-weight interfacing existed and confessed she doesn't sew much. God forbid you need any fabric cut because you'll be there for a long time. This store, I swear I dread going in here, the service is so poor. I wish there were someplace else nearby that could be an alternative. Jo-Ann's has a very good selection of everything I need for my home decorating projects and sewing so I am in there at least twice a month. If they had any local competition no one would shop at Jo-Ann's. You'd better allow yourself an extra hour to wait in line. You have to wait for anything to be measured and cut, and then wait in line for the check-out. The lines are always long and slow. You definitely get the sense that the employees do not care a thing about your shopping needs or why you are in their store. You can't get help with anything. I don't know if they are that much under-staffed or if they just hire anyone who can stand on their feet. If my prayers are answered there will be a fabulous new fabric store open up here! It wouldn't have to be big, it would just have to have the right stuff and be staffed with one or two people who care about fabric. read more

Then, I thanked her and put my hand out to take them and she yanked them back and rudely informed me they'd be at the front checkout. I was really taken back by that, but figured she must be having a bad day or life, so I let it go and thanked her again as she stormed off. The rest of the visit was pretty uneventful, especially since not one person asked if they could help me find something. I usually know exactly what I am going here for but find myself walking up and down the aisle anyways. This time I tried their order online and pick up in store. I have used it before and received my email to come get my stuff later that day. This time not so much. I places my order on the 1st and by the 6th I had still not received my email. So I decided to call since I am now in a time crunch for the items i ordered to finish my project. The gentlemen I spoke with on the phone was clueless as to what I was asking and told me it could take a week plus for my order to come into the store (even though they won't let you buy an item if they don't have it in stock at the store). I told him I didn't think he was understanding what I was asking. That was when his demeanor changed and he began to get argumentative. I asked to speak with a manager at this point. The manager was helpful and told me my order had been ready but they forgot to send out the email. The fabric (reg price) is usually a dollar or 2 more than beverly's to begin with, so know what you are getting. occasionally you can get 50% off coupons too, which makes it worth while. I've always had good luck at Joann's in Santa Rosa. I'm not sure if they survived the fires or not but I drive two hours to get there and am always happy. I'm usually there for patterns and I find nice remnants too but I do acknowledge that if you want fabric cut, it's quite a wait. But it's a busy store so I don't mind. When they are out of patterns, it's usually due to the new releases and their big sales. I laugh when people complain about "why can't someone open a good fabric store in Santa Rosa...." Here is my fourth review in the "Getting To Know You" series: I have to admit, I don't come here as often as I used to...I tend to shop around for the best values. Ever since the store remodel, things have not been the same. There seems to be less fabric, although their prices are still the best in my opinion, especially with coupons from their flyer. Many of the original employees (at least when I was there) are gone. So I can understand why three of the four reviews preceding mine were less than stellar. Customer service is not what it used to be...most people, it seems, are just there to earn a paycheck rather than be helpful. It is definitely a younger staff than when I first started shopping in this location. I haven't been down to the Rohnert Park store in years. I do agree that they tend to have more miscellaneous items than they had in the past, but I usually find what I am looking for when I go there. FYI...the fabric cutting line has always been long. I still think this store has a better selection than most other stores in the area. I will continue to shop at this location because of the monthly flyer and coupon sales. read more
