We were quoted 3465.00 for the move. We paid 1470.00 deposit. They were scheduled to pick our stuff on Monday, the day before we closed on the house we sold. They never showed up, never called. We called them 6 times, finally that night they called back and said the driver came down sick. I had to pay the new owners of our house 350 00 dollars for not being out. Joanne movers said they would pay for that as well as give me a "major discount. They never paid for the 350.00 dollar fine. I told them I just want my deposit back they said "no refunds" imagine that. They said they will be out the very next day between 10 & 11. They weren't, at 12:45 three homeless looking degenerates showed up with a rented u-haul and said they were our movers. Imagine how angry I was! I called and again they said " no refunds." Anyway they loaded my stuff and locked the truck then their boss, you know 'Joanne movers' called me and said there was more in the truck then was quoted initially. The 3 quacks are now driving off with my household items. Joanne movers told me that the actual cost was going to be 5500.00 dollars. So I said just bring my stuff back. Joanne movers said that if they do it will be a 1000.00 fee for loading and unloading it. At this stage they are obviously holding my items hostage for more money. Anyway fast forward 2 and half weeks later, after I said just bring me my items and was forced to pay them their ransom fee. Moral of this long review of the worst moving company in the universe? If you want this or worse to happen to you, then by all means please do hire 'Joanne movers.' I had to orchestrate two moves yesterday, by myself. One of the people that I was moving for was driving in from Idaho, the other person that I was moving, couldn't be there. Zero stars would be appropriate, WARNING!!!! Incompetent!!! BEWARE!!!! DO NOT USE!!!! I have moved many times local and long distance. First red flag should have been calling week prior to move to confirm date etc. they acted like they had never heard of me. Day of the move showed up 1.5 late , tried to call multiple times only to get mail box is full message. When they arrived i asked if the had brought a hand truck (basic moving equipment) no they had not. Asked them to take an old office chair to the dumpster then as i was paying # overcharged. Owner Terri ask me if there was anything wrong with the chair, i said no just old and would not work in my new place, he responded oh good mine broke its in the back of my truck. Are you kidding me!!! Boxes clearly marked as fragile or needing to be moved upright arrows and all. Please see pics of what how they loaded. Large scratch on an expensive computer desk, butcher block hutch moved with casters still on caused the bottom to become miss aligned, broken bowls, coffee cups. I haven't used this company's services, so I cannot speak to that. However, I received no less than five phone calls from them today, trying to provide a quote for my move. The first two I missed, the third the guy told me who he was and that he was from Joanna's movers and that he had missed a call from me. I hadn't called him. Told him this. He then argued with me before hanging up. Not even a minute later, he called back saying the same spiel, I asked him not to call me again. I then received two texts and an email from an entirely different guy from the same company. Just now at 9pm I received a call from the same "missed call" guy, from a number in an entirely different state than than he called from earlier. I told him to quit calling and yet, as I typed this he called yet again. If this is how you handle a quote, I'd hate to see how you handle moves. read more

Save yourself some aggravation and don't ever use Joanna's Movers. Moved from New Mexico to Chicago. The driver was rude, they did not blanket anything, and did not provide paid for boxes for televisions. We were told the items would arrive in approximately 2 weeks. When they did arrive almost 6 weeks later the driver was again rude and direspectful, demanded payment before he would even touch our furniture, and argued with us over the damaged furniture. None of the televisions were boxed and one was destroyed. When I tried to contact them to discuss, the owner, Michael, kept putting me off and telling me that he would contact me when he got done with his run. Never happened after several attempts. We hired them to just load our furniture in to a rental van, not to transport the furniture. They had 3 guys, one who admitted he had no experience. Every piece - every piece - of our furniture was damaged. Once the van got to our new place in another state, the laborers we hired to unload the furniture, started noticing damage and started showing it. Joanna's Movers piled all of our wooden furniture on top of each other, shoving metal legs of chairs against wooden furniture. We've got gouges, scrapes, rubs on every piece of furniture. No furniture was protected with the blankets we bought. A month later, we are still fighting with them. We have pictures of all damage and have sent them. We have contacted a furniture restoration place. They came out and gave quote of $1900. One piece that was damaged was 200 years old and is priceless. The manager, Michael, has pretended to be concerned; but we have not received any restitution. Their phones aren't answered and their voice mails are full, including the CEOs.
