I'm an onion ring snob, and I cannot give high enough marks to Joe Friday's ORs. Sweet onions in a light and flakey crust, just delightful. I also had the fried catfish. It was three large filets with a crunchy exterior, just enough spice, and homemade tartar sauce. Stopped here for lunch and grabbed the lunch menu. My husband was so excited to see a fried bologna sandwich with egg, bacon, and miracle whip. Michael, our waiter and the manager, suggested the Ruben sandwich as they were out of the bologna. He also recommended the lemon pepper fried potatoes. Excellent recommendations. ROACHES!!!!! Filthy, disgusting and ROACH infested establishment!! ROACHES crawled across the booths as our food was served to us! Told the waitress and she acted as though that is a normal thing; she was not shocked/surprised at all. She pretended to swat at it with a dish rag and walked away. I made all staff aware and none of the employees cared. Then the waitress said she would "discount the meal." I refused the meal. RUN....do not walk from this place!! ZERO rating! Joe Friday's diner was a great place for some out of towners to find a good dinner. We showed up at 7:55PM, and they close at 8PM, but they stayed open for us willingly and with smiles. Our food was good. Our pictures were taken after we started eating (sorry). We got the burger, the chicken burger (sub beef for chicken patty), and the chicken fingers. The buns on the burgers were amazing, the sweet potato fries were some of the best I've ever had. Would go back if ever in Mexia again! 4 adults ate for $40. read more

This place is solid. Ashley was attentive, polite, and her menu suggestions were great. Onion rings were fine strings, although good, just not what I was expecting. Smoked turkey sandwich was good, highlight was toasted multigrain bread with avocado, yum, I love avocado, more avocado please. Steak finger basket came with two sides. I chose green beans and sweet potato fries. Steak was deep fried, somewhat of a first for me. I did eat all my steak, but I'm not a hug fan of that style. I've only eaten here a couple of times, but It was good. I had a lunch chicken tender with sweet potatoe fries. Those fries are addictive!

To me by far has to be the number one or in the top three venues to eat in Mexia Texas I have to apply the effort the food the preparation the consistency please don't change the price continue to do what you do and there's nothing bad really bad about this place except sometimes the way don't call in orders a couple of times orders been wrong but usually nine times out of 10 you get what you want and it's prepared to your liking and to the order great job read more

Super cute great little place in a fashion of a fifties diner. Super clean. The staff is awesome food was totally amazing, I got the crab cakes and they were super soft and amazing just like homemade. Also I got the meatloaf and mashed potatoes and they were also very moist and tastes just like what I make when I make them at home and I got a strawberry milkshake super sweet was great best meal I've had in my travels back to Texas. read more

Two visits and I feel experienced enough to submit official review. The place has a true diner feel, minus the dankness and the toothlessness you would expect. The dining area opens up to the kitchen so you have a feel for what's going on. There have been DPS eating here on both visits which a sign you're in the right spot. They know. I've had the burger and the turkey sandwich. Both above average. The fries are homemade but I wouldn't say they are the star of the show. The staff is attentive but not annoying. There is a small town, close knit feel to the place, as you would expect. Stop here if you are crushing thru Mexia. read more

Great little diner. Very clean, great service from Alexis and awesome food. Everything is homemade with the exception of the sweet potato fries. The chicken fried steak was fresh and hand breaded. As were the onion rings. The made from scratch biscuits are delicious; I almost bought a dozen to take home. Exceptional first experience with this restaurant. This was a decent place to eat. Came here with the in-laws. Friendly service. My cheeseburger was okay and my shake was tasty. The chciken tenders for the kids were good. My husband had the Ruben and he said it was average. A cute little 50's/60's diner. Wish they would have had Heinz or Hunts ketchup vs. the generic stuff but atleast they had French's mustard. Doesn't look like much when I drive by every day to and from work. Decided to try it for dinner when I stayed in town while I was on call for work. Service was quick and friendly! Passing through on the way home. This place was great the sweet tea the fried fish, was just delicious. I take pride in my own fried fish and they beat me lol. We were guests at a family lunch at Joe Friday's recently. The Diner has a next-door dining room for large group use. Food was brought over from the main diner by wait staff served buffet style. Setting was nice, tables were decorated for us, and food was delicious! Thank You, Joe Friday's, for making it so nice. The family had just concluded a memorial service and grave-side service for a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and they wanted everyone to fellowship at a meal before returning to their homes. We visited Joe Friday's on April 22nd. We were on our way to a funeral so went through the drive through for road ready food. There were 4 of us, 1 had a burger and 3 had the Rueben sandwich. Everyone of us enjoyed our lunches and would definitely go back again if we are in the area. I'd love to go inside and try some of the plated meals. read more

Had lunch here yesterday. This is a cool place. Good food, I'm assuming cooked to order. I had a burger on jalepeno bun with guacamole. Burger was fabulous, the bun was very tasty but kinda self destructed before I finished it! No worries, it was good. The fries were kinda limp. One of the worst burgers ever! Took one bit and sent it back! The burgers are from pre frozen patties! The lettuce had rot on it! The corn bread before the meal was good but Iam still unsure why it was served with coffee creamer instead of butter???
