Great first experience! Called ahead on a Saturday night, and there was no wait at 6:30. Hostess was very accommodating, seeing that a booth got cleaned for us, and the interior was casual but lovely. Staff were walking around constantly, dusting and rearranging chairs to make sure everything looked nice for guests. Our server was wonderful, quickly bringing a little plate of bread with a garlicky tomato bruschetta spread and a bit of olive oil. I think the restaurant should swap for a nicer EVOO, but the complimentary bread was a nice tide-me-over while we looked over the menu. My only other note: cleanliness of the dinnerware. He found a food bit dried on his fork and requested a new one, but then (the exterior of) his wine glass was smudged with something crusty, too... Not the server's fault by any means, but definitely something we hope the restaurant will pay closer attention to in the future. I got chicken Parmesan, and he got the traditional gnocchi. The server was kind to accommodate my request for Alfredo on the pasta side, and we were both super impressed by the house made tomato sauce. My chicken was perfectly cooked, and the pasta wasn't overcooked - which was a marked difference from M'Tucci's (and other Italian-American restaurants we've tried in the ABQ area). Don't let my calm exterior fool you; I was vibrating with excitement the moment I sat down. The decor is so settled and classy it almost made me feel like an actual adult with my life together. It wasn't busy, which was perfect because I'm currently in my "selective socialite" era and I liked the vibe. Rico the bartender is a total legend, he was entertaining every guest like he was hosting a late-night talk show. I ordered an Old Fashioned to unwind from the sheer stress of existing, followed by Joe's Carbonara. This wasn't your regular Carbonara; it was "contemplate stealing the recipe" levels of tasty. I had a great dinner here. This place is very nice, it was very clean. The seating is comfortable. The staff was all very attentive and pleasant and very quick with the service. The food was really good. I had the Rio Grande surf and turf and my guest had the Southwestern Alfredo. I also opted for a house salad and a Strawberry Kiwi lemonade. I would probably pass on the salad next time, it was just a large pile a lettuce with 3 cherry tomatoes and like 4 slices of cucumber with not enough ranch dressing. That would be the bad part about the food. The lemonade also sounded better than the delivery, I was expecting something refreshing because it was a hot day and it was just very sweet and sugary, their ice tea was wonderful however. The pasta had had very large portions, they did not skimp on the protein or the parmesan cheese. I would come back but skip the salad and go for a more traditional drink choice. read more

Pleasantly surprised! I feel like fettuccine Alfredo is one of those hit or miss items for Italian food. Ironically, it's one of my favorite dishes but. I did their lunch weekday special with buy 2 for $13. So I tried the special meatball soup and then the Alfredo. Both were phenomenal. The soup was so fresh! I don't actually like tomatoes but the ones in the soup were so well cooked and seasoned! I actually ate them! The Alfredo . So creamy. I'm a tad scared of how close it is to my house. Decor is nice. Newer deco design vibes. And the service was great. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Oh! Almost forgot about the calamari! Don't order it. Quite good. Went on recommendation from a friend, and we were both happy to have gone. Came in to an empty space at 4:30 on a Sunday and it was jumping by the time we left an hour later. Generous bread-plate on seating, with wonderful garlic/tomato/oil and oil/salt/pepper toppings to go with the good bread. Drink prices were on the low side (these days) for the quality delivered, and that was true of the food, as well. Lots of food for the fare. Sauces were good (fra diavolo - on the watery side compared to what we make at home) to great (alfredo with green chile: my word, that works!) and pasta was cooked just a wee bit beyond the very-firm al dente I prefer (but just fine). Plenty of protein in the portions. Solidly tasty food and bevs. The re-done room is a lot nicer than we imagined in this former Weck's location but I was troubled to smell a whiff of sewer gas in the air that I'd first noted when the space was the site of the departed and lamented (otherwise good) Tortilla Kitchen (here's hoping that's addressed NOW: that's the kind of thing that makes me stop coming to a place). Service was friendly but - while initially very on-it, kinda thin on the ground a lot of the time. (Water refills were an issue as things got busy.) But it just might have been a weird little constellation of events, Joe's Pasta House's Albuquerque location was solid and we'll be back. (Manager: please do whatever is necessary to get rid of that smell: floor drains, grease trap, vent line, whatever - find it and fix it, please. So glad we discovered this restaurant during our trip to Albuquerque! The food, vibe and service were all 5-star worthy. The seating area was spacious with tables spread apart and the beautiful chandeliers with dim lights made it all very romantic. The restaurant was also beautifully decorated for the holidays. This was my second time ordering Joe's on the east side, for delivery. We ordered three entrees total for approx $80 including driver tip and tax. The food was underwhelming. Two of us had waterlogged food (see pics). The spaghetti on the waterlogged entrees was overcooked and mushy. The chicken was rubbery and tough, almost as if it had a plastic coating on the outside of it. That's how tough it was. The third entrée was good and my friend enjoyed it. I had the majority of my food left after only having taken about four bites of my super bland meal (probably because of all the water). I'm going to try and drain all the water off today to see if it's worth salvaging any leftovers. I was a bit embarrassed as I had just told both of my friends how wonderful the new Joe's Pasta House was. They were excited to try it given my raving review. Imagine my surprise when we ended up with two out of three entrées being below average. The food arrived on time and the delivery was smooth. I haven't been inside this location so I cannot give a breakdown of what the restaurant is like inside. Proceed with caution. I was super excited to have Joe's on the east side of town but now I don't know if I want to try them again given the last meal. I hope you have better luck than we did. read more

Southwestern Alfredo with chicken was very good with the hatch chili and red pepper to spice it up. Generous portions. Greek salad was very flavorful with the large artichoke hearts. Bottom line is the new Joes pasta house has the same great food but the menu seems a little smaller. The staff were friendly and attentive. The decor is modern Italian. It's a bit different in feel and appearance and very nice. We started with the fried zucchini and it was as good as the original. I had the baked ravioli and my hubby had the gnocchi with meat sauce. All was great quality and taste. The fresh bread and spiced oil was great. As the restaurant filled up it got a little loud. The bathrooms were clean. Also loved the senior menu. It's a great value!! My only criticism is it seems like it wasn't the full Joes menu. Also my food was very warm but not hot when it came out. Nothing bad... I'm glad to have Joes closer to home. read more

My daughter and I visited the new Joe's Pasta House location on Holly across the lot from Skechers last night. They are currently doing their soft opening and were pretty busy. John, our server, was friendly and helpful. My daughter had the green chile chicken ravioli. The creamy sauce had great green chile flavor without being super spicy, and the ravioli was cooked just right. I enjoyed my salmon florentine, a perfectly cooked salmon filet on top of angel hair pasta with a spinach, mushroom, garlic, and cherry tomato sauce. It was very good. We had complimentary bread with herbed olive oil and a garlic/tomato sauce to dip it in to start, and also tried the tasty tiramisu for dessert. I went to Joe's last night for dinner. I had the Southwest Fettuccine Shrimp. I was looking for a taste of New Mexico and I think I got it. The Alfredo sauce was spicy and deliciously creamy. The server was wonderful. He was very attentive and friendly. He made good recommendations which added to the meal. The restaurant has a comfortable atmosphere with great acoustics. Even with the very large party that was in the restaurant, it was quiet enough that you could talk quietly and still be heard. I've been to the Joe's in Rio Rancho, so decided to give this one a try. This one has a different feel to it, but similar menu items. I had seen a pumpkin ravioli special that would be available at both locations until Thanksgiving, but they said they hadn't had it for awhile, so that was a little misleading. Our server was knowledgeable (and honest) about the items on the menu that he had and hadn't tried. We started off with the fried ravioli appetizer ($12) and of course our complimentary bread. I had my eye on the layered eggplant as a second choice ($17 with eggplant, tomato, plenty of ricotta and mozzarella cheese, and bacon), which our server had said that he hadn't heard any feedback from that dish. But, I decided to order that as my entree. My friend went with the salmon florentine ($28). There was a little bit of a wait between getting our appetizer and ordering our entree. The place was pretty busy for a weekday night. Portion sizes were quite large, with the eggplant appetizer being bigger than I had expected (enough for another meal and a half). Very cheesy, but the eggplant was a little hard to cut. We also ordered the limoncello cake (not pictured)- light and creamy and took me back to the limoncello factory I visited in Sorrento. I kept hearing good things about Joe's but hadn't made it yet. I was excited to learn there was a location up on Paseo. It's in what looks like a very small space but the interior is actually much larger and it was a very nice setup. Our server was very attentive and was good about checking in on us. The food came out very quickly and it was quite tasty. I got the eggplant parmesan which looked so good that I started eating it before I took a picture (oops). I promise the missing spot is because of me not because the dish was small. It was a really generous portion size and reminded me of home made Italian. Our meal of course came with complimentary bread and oil for dipping. Also very tasty. I ordered the Lasagna, the wife ordered the Lemon Pepper Pasta with chicken. The lasagna was hot, a little oily on top (an observation - not a complaint) flavorful and definitely moist. The Lemon Pepper was a nice Al dente, lots of flavor, especially lemon. It's not a hint - it's really lemony. Chicken was well spiced & moist. Artichokes added to the flavor. Service however was meh. It wasn't busy, but our server was supposed to bring more to drink. She returned 10 mins later - asked if there was anything else we needed. She'd forgotten the refills. Restaurant was very nice and was excited to try something new. Went in on a Friday night and wasn't too busy so we got sat right away. Overall experience was ok the waiter/ bartender and kitchen were a little slow so we waited a bit for apps and food to come out. My meal was pretty good which was the chicken Marsala. My daughter and wife didn't care too much for the Alfredo, whatever herbs they used overwhelmed the dish. The fried mozzarella is just mozzarella sticks. Nothing special. Started with the sampler appetizer, all was decent except the Fried Zucchini was slightly undercooked; you could taste the doughiness. For the mains, the bolognese was somewhat bland, the sauce didn't make up for the pasta or its filling. The lobster ravioli and shrimp were WAY too salty. Definitely would not recommend getting this, did not finish and did not take home. Overall great vibe, great service, but unfortunately, have to rate low for now until the food improves. read more

We've been wanting to try this place and we're pleasantly surprised. My husband had Tortellini and meatball soup. He said it was excellent. I had the Lasagna and it was very tasty. I've been excited to come here and finally had time in my schedule to make a lunch date with my significant other. Staff and ambiance were wonderful. Waitress was polite, and informed about menu. I felt heard. Place is clean and welcoming. Not too loud. Unfortunately the food was just ok. My Caesar salad was drowned in dressing. The marinara tasted like it was store bought. My husband fettuccine Alfredo had a similar problem. Both sauces were too diluted. I wish i could give 3.5 stars because i was very underwhelmed by the food, but the service and ambiance were excellent. Hopefully these are growing pains that will improve. read more

No trouble seating us, I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, decided my introduction should try the basics. it was good, fair portion well served, at first i thought the sauce was a bit watery, but it quickly coated and the nearly perfictly cooked noodles were delicious, and the meatballs generous and not greasy. Overall i went about 2pm on a Tuesday evening . wasn't very packed at all about 4 people in resturant as customers . I was sat at the bar area booth . the table was clean and the overall resturant was very fresh , clean and modern. I ordered the 3 for 18 to try a lil bit of options as this was my first time. overall the salad was good and fresh (american style which i enjoy as i don't like very fishy Caesar salads) the chicken parm sandwhich was good the bread was fresh soft and toasted all in one, the chicken was good as well , the only thing i can say is the tomato sauce was kinda bland which i was surprised about . The pasta though was great! i thought it was going to be some standard Alfredo but it was unique and original . very creamy and garlicky ! if you love garlic this is up your jam ! i'm a huge lover of garlic and this was up there and you can tell it was good garlic not that powder taste! i would def get that again and probably the whole normal size with chicken ! The sangria was good with was made with pinot Grigio which caused it to be on the dryer side (which was noted in the ingredients ) i'm more on the sweeter side of sangria so i would say personally would like that sweeter . But that's me . they had this egg nog espresso martini i almost got and will be on my next order list when i go back! I'm visiting Albuquerque from out of town, and I'm SO glad I ended up at Joe's Pasta House. The moment I walked in, I was welcomed like a regular -- friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and the kind of Italian kitchen aromas that make you instantly excited for dinner. I ordered the linguine with clams, and it was perfection -- tender pasta, fresh clams, and a garlicky white wine sauce that I wanted to bottle up and take home with me. Every bite tasted like it was made with care. The fresh bread and dessert were also fantastic, and the service made me feel truly taken care of. Traveling means trying lots of new places, and Joe's Pasta House has definitely been a highlight of my trip. If you're in Albuquerque and craving a comforting, delicious Italian meal, do yourself a favor and come here. I wish I could bring this restaurant home with me! read more

Got doordash takeout from there last week for me and my girlfriend. The food was okay, but the main issue is the price and the portions. Usually italian food is pretty cheap to make, but restaurants hike up the price to make a large profit. We got the spaghetti and meatballs, and the ravioli as well to share. For the price of each dish, we expected large portions. however, we got very little food in each takeout container. It was like, "Where's the rest of the food!?" I mean, come on, just add a little more food for us. It does not cost that much to the restaurant, and it keeps the customers happy. We were left hungry at the end. I know that Joe's pasta house got new owners, and I think they must have decreased the portions and increased the price to really focus on the profit $. Sad though. I used to live in Rio Rancho and loved the original location. Anyways, I would recommend skipping this place and going to Mario's Pizzeria just down the street. They've been around for longer, have a larger menu with delicious pizza options, are much cheaper in price, and have a gelato bar too! read more

The food is not worth it--especially at the $20-30 prices. At those prices I'd expect the pasta to be fresh, but I paid for boxed pasta (confirmed by staff) in a mediocre sauce. I really wanted to love this place. Sadly, it came up short. I have been searching for a classic Italian Lasagna al Forno but their signature dish di not even come close. The noodles were thick when they should be handkerchief thin and preferably fresh instead of dried. They use of ricotta instead of béchamel rendered the dish dry instead of luxurious. The red sauce tasted as if came straight out of can rather than having been long simmered and the Italian sausage was over assertive when it might have been combined with regular ground meat. I understand that local tastes may differ from what one finds in either San Francisco or New York so forgive me if I'm out of line. In the meantime, I will continue my search for a restaurant more committed to the Italian standard. BTW, ambiance was pleasant and the service was perfect so no disappointments there. read more
