I recently had the enjoyment of working with the crew from Joe Skillen. From the visit of the estimator to the day of action, I was really impressed. Arriving right on time they had to clear the site of undergrowth before they could begin. All the guys were super friendly and very efficient in their job. Working to remove about 60 feet of 40 year old cedars was not easy but they handled the work as though it were a hobby ! The downed trees were hauled to the chipper and the site cleared as they worked. Their vehicles caused no disturbance on my road for our neighbours. in summary I would strongly recommend everyone from the estimator to the crew to the receptionist Michelle, who contacted me several times to ensure everything was to my satisfaction. In a single day, overgrown trees, shrubs, hedging, and overhanging branches were cleared away, which opened up the garden to more light and, more importantly, were the first steps in making our home more aligned with FireSmart BC recommendations; that was a big weight off my mind. When they come to the property to asses the job, they listen to my concerns and requests, explain what they can do, give a quote, and a time frame for when they can do the job. Today while biking with my dog I came across a cat stuck in a tree, about sixty feet up!! There was no way he would be able to come down on his own! Dean and Kimberley from Joe Skillen Tree Service came out within 15 minutes, Dean climbed the tree and was able to catch kitty and lower him safely and gently down the ground. Then he rappelled himself down, to standing ovations from us cat lovers! After all that he wouldn't even let me pay him! Did a great job making the two cedars safer and gave me an update on the status of trees. One has some rot, so will be doing more later on.
