This was my second time here after a very long time (the first was years ago recently after opening). Not again. First I walked in and i should have just walked out. Not at all like the pictures or what i recalled. There were old signs on the wall and old serving stations that appeared unkempt and had seen better days. To be blunt, it looked dilapidated Food: I ordered an italian hero and was told they "ran out of ham". I dont care about that however upon reviewing the menu and old reviews, that is not the case and the fact that it was lied about, and the meat case was bare is questionable. Disgusting!!!! I ordered a grilled chicken hero with lettuce, tomato, onion with Swiss and mayo. The cutlet didn't even fill the hero, what is worse than that is how the chicken breast was dark meat. So that has me questioning if it was squab or rat meat. Everything was slopped on the bread. I'm getting nauseous just thinking about it. My husband surprised me with a roast beef sandwich which turned out to be a grizzle sandwich, which I had to throw away. Worst sandwich I ever had in my life. ok so if i could give this place 0 stars i would! so sad when when you grew up knowing this place as a iconic staple growing up in the selden/centereach. so basicly we were there waiting for our order for just about a half an hour after we ordered 2 heros. so as we were waiting for our heroes i was looking around the place is disgusting. the walls need to be painted. the piping for the sinks were totally exposed and filthy. and so were the walls. there was an old prep area that was just sitting there and should be removed. the cold cut cases was completly bare with maybe 3 things in there and like 2 salads. the chip racks were basicly empty and the dring coolers were lacking in many brands. but the most deisgusting thing was the bathroom i opened the door and decided to hold my piss. its was a biohazard. the floors were slightly wet. the toilet still had piss and shit in it. wasnt flushed and the toilet seat was up and filthy. i prob would need a tetnis shot if i used it. so now the food. my husband ordered a sandwich called the northshore. the chicken cutlet had big chunks of grizzle in it. also not a good grade of chicken. i originally ordered a sandwhich with honey turkey and was told they dont have honey turkey.. how do you not have one of the most popular turkey products? so i settled for regular turkey and it def was not boarshead or any good brand at all. it was a deli turkey and the bacon that was on it def was not bacon. it didnt look like bacon it was thick so i took a bite and it was definatly corned beef. i didnt ask for corned beef!!! it had soo much fat and it was gross. this place needs to really improve on things before someone calls the health department or gets really sick! so basicly if you are looking for a good hero shop or looking to relive your days when you use to go to campus heros you will not get that. avoid them at all costs. take the extra time driving and visit tj's in patchogue where they definatly know how to do it right!!! read more

Also called Kim's cafe online but not anywhere in the physical store. A mix between deli and cafe, but also wine bar at night. Not much parking. Went here on a weekday to get some work done. Wasn't busy at all, but the wifi was a bit spotty. Was a bit disappointed because the cafe is very cute and I like how spacious the tables are. Not a ton of outlets. Cafe seemed very promising but the dark chocolate coconut latte was just Hershey syrup and coconut flakes on top, not very impressed. Service was a bit on the slow side but I think there were only two people working, and they were the absolute sweetest. Would go again because this seems like a nice local business and the cafe does hold a lot of promise. Rooting for their success. read more

All I can say is wow, this place is legit! I'm so happy I came here and their sandwiches are top notch. Perfect place to grab hero's to watch football on Sundays or just to grab lunch if you live in the area. This is perhaps the best deli that I have been to in many years. They truly make a great sandwich and the place is immaculate. Plenty of seats and great tables to eat at. I ordered the Ashley hero, which was chicken cutlets, cheddar cheese, onions rings, bacon on toasted garlic bread. It's definitely a heart attack sandwich, but so worth it lol. Chicken cutlet are fresh and fried to perfection and the bacon is cooked perfectly. All the components to this sandwich blend great together and just an all around solid sandwich. This is the Second time we order from this restaurant and the difference between the first and this second time was breathtakingly distinct in how BAD all of it was when compared to the our initial experience. Our main entrees, which were the sandwiches, were astoundingly lacking compared to our first time. Our first time left everyone glowing by how great all of it had been. This was why we went with them again. Understand that for the price, this second time we were left having to ask, "Where's The Beef!?" To make matters worse, this second time we ordered a "Build Your Own Chopped Salad," which I propose be rebranded to "Build Your Own Disaster Salad." The greens were simply a NASTY mess! A lot of the pieces were old and brown, and the cuts... well, there were just chunks of salad "cut" with a... hatchet (?), or perhaps a machete. I could go on but you get the point -- disgusting! Im not sure who was at the kitchen but it might be time to reevaluate that role 'cuz this place will likely be a fat "Nah, Dog," from here on in! What, do they higher high schoolers as staff? I could only handle half of it. It was delicious! I went for this place because it allowed special requests and I didn't want cheese but wanted extra mayo. They fulfilled my request accurately. Food poisoning- turkey sandwich. My son stopped going here several months ago because he felt the quality has deteriorated and prices were higher for his usual chicken cutlet hero. My husband picked up a turkey hero and it was a "lame" sandwich, as described by him that he felt would have been better at Subway, which is saying something since they notoriously give you a pre-measured smidgeon of meat there. Campus Heroes...pretty good. Hero/sub shops in the northeast are definitely held to a higher standard than other places in the country I believe. Joe's CH was better than TJ's mostly because of the bread, real hero bread not that soft, spongy bread that has a lower quality feel to it. My only problem was it wasn't put together with TLC, it wasn't tight, a lot of the sauce, lettuce & chicken were falling out of the sandwich. Also when a sandwich is wrapped up tight the ingredients kind of meld together to enhance the taste. It took quite a while for them to make my lunch so I don't know what the delay was, definitely not carving the chicken into smaller pieces. I know I'm nitpicking but this is a review & the hero was 11 bucks, not expensive but not inexpensive either. We have been coming here weekly for lunch, and I have to say, we have never had a bad sandwich here. My husband gets the hero and I get a roll, but both are overstuffed. Some of our favorites are the All American, Mona Lisa, Native New Yorker, Mad Dog American, Joe's Special Italian, Philly, Mad Mac and Undertaker. I regret to even do this negative review. I always try to add a positive. But...as a 1st time customer, I was VERY disappointed. I ordered, a couple and a solo woman ordered AFTER me. They all got their food BEFORE me. I had to ask where my Panini was . Then it was rushed. When i was asked if i wanted my chicken salad ON my (menu item) chx salad BLT panini, i shoulda walked out then. Food given to me, i could have easily walked out with it espically since the (i believe) owner/manager was busy with an inquiring large order customer. BUT, i said i still need to pay. Wish i didn't cuz upon opening my said panini....it was a flatbread wrap!!! Being optimistic about the carrot cake...yet another fail. Slightly more flavor than frosted cardboard. Not using boar's Head meat anymore rumor is they did not pay their bill so boar's Head pulled their meats not sure if it's rumors are true but they do not have any boar's Head signs or meet in the case. sandwiches are no longer packed to the brim like when it was the original campus and the bread is definitely different these days.
