I really want to love this place. Busy local old school diner with breakfast, lunch & pies. Easy parking in private lot. Overpriced for what we got. We got Turkey Bacon Melts that come on sourdough with fries. Bread was sturdy and sinfully buttery. I was pleasantly surprised with turkey breast (not deli meat). Bacon seemed like microwave bacon and cheese got lost. Fries were straight up frozen crinkle fries they didn't add seasoning to. I love dipping my fries in ranch but could not waste calories on this ranch - tasted like it came out of the big plastic tub from restaurant supply company. They have senior meals for really good price which is great! Lunch starts at 1030. I don't see that I wrote a review about my experience a year or two ago but would have rated that 4 stars and our reason for going back. Service was better last time. We've had Joe's saved on our list to do....for a while. The day finally came and we dropped by last Saturday morning around 9:30. I just knew there would be a long wait. Nope! Walked right in and greeted by some of the friendliest wait staff I've ever met. It's a simple place, nothing fufu or fake. That's what was hoping for. Our waitress reminded me of my grandmother. Sweet, friendly and just a little bit sassy. In a good way. What I loved about Joe's is it's not too complicated to figure out. Just good ole basic home cooked breakfast. So that's what we ordered. I got a combo with two fried eggs, sausage, ham, bacon and pancakes. I even asked for some blueberries to put on the side. My wife got the smaller size but with French toast. They made sure our coffee was hot and full and checked back on us often. Loved that! For $15 that was the best breakfast I've had in a long time. Cooked to order and everything tasted great. Even the sausage was really tasty and cooked well. The pancakes were hot and fluffy. The service is what pushed them over from 4 to the 5th ! read more

this place is more like a 3.5 out of 5 stars. I stopped by this place after coming back from the dfw airport, and was craving breakfast. Its a simple diner with the typical choices for breakfast items. I ended up getting a cup of coffee and the california omelette. The california omelette came with avocado on top with chicken inside. it was really light and wasn't as heavy as some other breakfast items. It also came with your choice of grits, or hashbrown. I opted for the grits. Also, you could get biscuit or toast, and i went with toast. The omelette was about 13 bucks, and i felt like it was kinda expensive for what i got. The omelette wasn't too filling, but i suppose if you eat all the grits and toast, you'd be full. The service was really great. they kept coming by to check in and refill my coffee cup. And the food came to me promptly. There's ample parking in the back. PS: some tables contain advertisements as shown in my photo. I won't how much they charge for companies to place ads onto the tables. lol read more

Average diner with small portions (perfect for me, but not for bigger eaters or men!) Hubby ordered their bacon & egg sandwich and you can see in the pic how cute & small it is. Service was also average, nothing too friendly or rude. It's an average-sized diner and clean. They charge 3% "service fee" for credit card users which really irks me as a consumer. These fees are business expenses and I never like it when businesses pass their fees onto their customers. (Just my opinion!) I ordered their Big Bird with eggs over medium (they were runny, so not properly cooked), hashbrowns were tasteless (had to add S&P), and pancakes were average but you can tell they aren't made from scratch. read more

Best cut of liver that I have had in quite some time. Being so easy to overcook, I have become accustomed to tough liver & onions but this was cooked to perfection. Service was prompt & courteous. We came here & was seated immediately. They asked us for our drinks (coffee) & it was ok. I ordered the cream of wheat w/all the trimmings. It reminded me of when my grandma would make it for me. Javier ordered the triple threat omelette. He said it was delicious (I wouldn't try it do the eggs). It is all open & very loud inside, but it is a family restaurant. The environment felt cozy. The service was very friendly. Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of the food, had the biscuits and gravy ( the gravy was overpowered by the taste of pure flour) my partner had a mix of everything and probably wouldn't have ordered eggs because after we got the bill ( very pricey) we noticed on the wall a notice that they are charging on top of the meal an extra dollar PER egg ordered. I usually go for a breakfast but my most recent visit on an early afternoon was for an egg salad on toasted rye, a side of cole slaw, iced tea, and a cherry cream cheese pie - always sooo many pie choices & a generously sized piece, too. First time at Joe's Coffee Shop and it earned its namesake. Staff is SO friendly, they have created a warm atmosphere that feels special. Breakfast is good, perfectly prepared with real ingredients. The price point is a bit high for the portion size but they bring biscuits so that helps supplement the meal. They also make their own hot sauce (you can buy a bottle for $4) and fresh salsa which was a tasty surprise. I was so smitten with the sweet decor and kind waitress that I invested in the what was sure be amazing pie to enjoy later in the day. Amazing it was not, but it was pretty. Very busy diner, looks like a former Pizza Hut bldg Coffee was good, but no sugar alternative on the table? Eggs were cooked Med , on the money Hash browns were very undercooked, not crispy just messy and tossed on plate . ( see IHOP for great crispy HB's) . No home fries? Pancakes were over cooked, easy to tell just looking at them before cutting in . Dry inside, just unappetizing. So it's a pass on them next time. read more

No one likes to write reviews of this nature but I wanted to make sure that everyone is aware of the ethics (or lack there of) of this restaurant. My husband and I have gone to this restaurant on and off for the last couple of years. More recently we started to become frequent customers. 2 weeks ago my husband noticed that all of the waitresses were white and all of the table busters were Hispanic. As he pointed this out it was very clear of the dynamic. We asked an employee in Spanish why she did not waitress as she had been there for years and they had a very young white girl waitressing. Her response was "they don't let us". Sadly this gave us everything we needed to know. We will NEVER give Joes another dime of our money. Please do not support this restaurant. Good, hardworking people are being discriminated against due to their ethnicity. This is not a place you want to dine at. read more

This place might be good for breakfast but my coworker and I got lunch to go and it was awful. We ordered the beef dip and turkey sandwiches with fries. The sandwiches were greasy and flavorless. The turkey in the turkey sandwich looked and tasted like it was a week old. Honestly they were two of the worst sandwiches I've ever bought. The fries were no better, undercooked and under seasoned. We ended up throwing most of the food away. I'm really disappointed because our new office is right down the street and I was excited about trying this place out. Joe's is a local spot there on Denton Hwy..the local senior community hangout for breakfeast and lunch. My mother in law really likes it here she's 90 .The plate lunches and breakfeast are made with cheap overpriced products...I don't know how you can mess up breakfeast but you can..cheap o bacon and the chicken fried steak is like a Grandys frozen cutlet Texas dip ismade with steakum .I've tried several items bland and cheap.They have a waitress there which is extremely ANNOYING screaming at the top her lungs across the dining room I get it the regulars may really like her and she is probably the only attention these seniors get .She sings in a her loud obnoxious scraggly voice of HAPPY BIRTHDAY....The owner allows this behavior which I am surprised since he is grumpy and bad humbug i don't mind a good time but its a little over the top. A nice cozy place to get charged $10 for a small unseasoned plate of bacon and eggs. The eggs were tasteless, the hash browns were lacking, the biscuit was dense and doughy, the gravy was watery and didn't taste like much. Then there's the bacon, something that should have been a slow pitch down the center of the plate was nothing more than limp microwaved pre cooked bacon. At least have the decency of crisping it. To try and save the experience I got a piece of lemon meringue pie. The meringue was overcooked and chewy while the lemon filling was falling apart. After tax and tip bill came to nearly $20. Really and truly the best part of Joes is the super sweet staff. This is not a chain type breakfast stop and reminds me of the breakfast/diners from various movies, it made me think I was stepping into one of those movies. Due to some dietary restrictions I skipped on doing breakfast ... honestly if one easiest change could be made for my family to be able to do breakfast here is offering turkey bacon/sausage but I 100% get keeping cost down being a small business ... and so I had lunch. Food was right for the price, the family we know that recommended this restaurants to us said pie was made in house/home made. We tried chocolate as a first timer safe bet, but will for sure come back for a cup of coffee and slice of pie to be able to try the other kinds. Really deep down that's the kind of thing I've been wanting or looking for ... is a diner I can get that slice of pie & cup of coffee. Bought a house in Park Glen area and have been passing this place for near 4 years and didnt even notice them. In fact was confused with Joe's Pasta N Pizza since it's literally in the same area. Joe's Cafe is in plain sight yet I happen to easily pass by. After searching for a spot for brunch, visited here last week Sunday and decided to stop by on the following Friday. Last Sunday was kind if hectic. They have an entrance on 2 sides of the building. I reccomend to walk in the entrance facing the dry cleaners and Texaco Gas Station as there is someone at the register and you will be noticed which we did today. Last Sunday we walked through the opposite entrance facing a car dealership and was easily missed for over 5 minutes. As it was our first time there after waiting thrn5 minutes my wife asked me to walk into the restaurant to flag somebody down to get help only to realize there were more people waiting on the side facing the cleaners. Maybe a clear sign saying to check in would be helpful for first timers like ourselves. -2 stars as in had a 5 and 3yr old as well as my 6 month old with me. Last Sunday we had the chicken fried steak and pancake breakfast. All was good but the gravy on the chicken fried steak tasted different than what I expected. Chicken fried steak itself wasnt impressive at all and tasted like it was prepped way too early or at the end of its prep life. (-1star) That leaves me with a 2 star review. They had a lady who a busser celebrating her birthday. She was quite impressive. Nevermind it was her birthday and she a million dollars stapled to her apron which would have slowed me down, she was clearly the hardest worker there that I saw me not being able to step into the kitchen of course. Our table was a little dirty and before I could say anything she ran over wiped it down and took a drink order returning in less than 2 minutes with our drinks. She also had drinks for another table next to ours. She came back and offered us a high chair for a baby and even did us the courtesy to wipe it down and dry it off. Service is the winner here. I added $5 to her apron. Today we came in at 915 am and my wife ordered another breakfast and biscuits. As I looked at the menu I wanted a burger. Our waitress Ashley said she would talk with kitchen and get them to make me a burger in the morning. I got Joe's Special Double Cheeseburger for breakfast. I stepped outside to take a business call and returned 15 minutes later. My wife kids had finished their meal and my burger had been sitting. Before I even had a chance to sit and settle down Ashley came around asking if I wanted the burger reheated or redone. It was fine the way it was. Pleased with the service and the quality of the food. (+3 stars) Today was above and beyond. I typically dont like to leave bad reviews and will try a place a 2nd time. Been going to Joes since I was a child, and the nostalgia of this place brings me so much joy. I think what makes it so great at the people who work there and the people who eat there. It's always bustling with all walks of life. The food is pretty average (I have a lot of health restrictions, so it's difficult to find things I can have), but the coffee is always piping hot and delicious. I try to come back and visit when I can, and truthfully as much as the area has changed over the years ... I love that I can always count on Joes to stay the same.
