5/31/26. 3 pm Fantastic great flat noodles and crispy beef with broccoli. So good I ordered thru DoorDash the next day, Pork dumplings and beef soup. Arrived hot and not one drop of soup spilt. Awesome.

This place blew up because of their soup dumplings and they live up to the hype! They were pretty good and full of soup. Although, I think their jelly fish dish with the garlic green beans was so good. I actually prefer those two dishes over the soup dumplings. The service was quick. We were sat down immediately and our food came out fast. I think this is an only cash establishment, so please remember to grab cash before coming here!! The ambiance wasn't too bad either. It's near Chinatown and financial district.

Came here just for their crab and pork soup dumplings and they were truly the best soup dumplings I've ever had. Each one is decently sized and comes out with sooo much soup inside. Every dumpling was bursting with soup and flavor. We got seated right away and food came out fairly fast. All the other food here also looked really yummy. This place is cash only as well

After reading mixed reviews, I decided to stop in for lunch and give it a try. The ambiance was casual but nice and the staff were friendly as well as attentive. I ordered the crab and pork soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, spring rolls, pan fried noodles with shrimp and General Tso's chicken. Everything came quickly and I must say it was very good! Portions are generous and served family style. I especially liked their pan fried dumplings and soup dumplings, delish! It was quite busy during the lunch rush but they do seat you quickly. Be forewarned they are a cash only establishment but they do have ATM machines available. Lastly, they include the tip in your bill so you need not try and figure out how much to add on. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here!

Cash only. There is an ATM machine at the entrance. FYI. Clean and fast service. Food was pretty good and nice service. The soup dumpling skin was a bit thick for me but still pretty good. Definitely a place to check out but BE AWARE that they included 18% service charge already in the bill for three people. I paid tip without realizing this.

Hands down the BEST shanghai style sweet red bean pancake (豆沙窩餅) in NYC!! Joe's Shanghai has long been a staple in Chinatown, and my family's go-to spot for big gatherings and holiday celebrations. Over the years, we've tried so many dishes on their menu, from their old Chinatown location to the current one. The food and service have never disappointed. To me, the star of the show is definitely their sweet red bean pancake (豆沙窩餅) and sweet fermented rice rice balls (酒釀丸子). The pancake is served warm and literally packed to the brim with red bean paste. I always make sure to save room for dessert every time. I'd highly recommend their seafood dishes. I grew up loving shanghai style sautéed baby shrimp (清炒蝦仁). It's actually a deceptively tricky dish to get right, as you need wok hei and just the right balance of flavor. But they totally nail it here. If I have to nitpick, their dishes are quite oily sometimes, which is expected in an old style chinese restaurant. It could be a pain to wait for a table at peak hours as they don't take reservations.

Dumplings, fried rice, and scallion pancake.... That's it, that's all. Quick service. Great service. Cash only. Always a vibe with locals and tourists there for the good stuff! This place never disappoints and I make sure I visit every time I visit Chinatown.

Came here around 5:15PM and when we arrived, we waited for 15 minutes to be seated. We looked at the menu while we were waiting. Atmosphere: 8/10 Not very clean. The floor was dirty with food and it seems they couldn't clean up because how business it gets here. The restaurant has a modern vibe, neutral color, and casual. Food: 9/10 We ordered the crab and pork soup dumpling, shrimp fried rice, and spicy salt and pepper squid. Although it was basic food choices it was all delicious. The soup dumpling felt like home once you take that first bite. I love adding the ginger slices from the soy sauce into the dumpling, it adds extra flavor to it. The shrimp fried rice was cooked well, not over cooked shrimp. The star of the show for all of us was the spicy salt and pepper. Perfectly coated batter and not overly cooked squid. It has a good crunch and flavor. Service: 8/10 Food came out at different time which kind of sucked but it didn't bother us too much. They were quick with getting us water and giving up plates/utensils once we were seated. Our waiter was kind enough to give us a new plate after our soup dumpling. I would come back whenever I'm in New York. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area or want some good authentic Chinese food.

Joe's Shanghai is a classic. Most people will recommend it for New York visit and I get why. I've been a few times and the food quality is consistent, there's much more seating here than most other places in the area, and the prices are reasonable. The service here could be a bit better because it took a while for us to get our food, so not a place to go to if you're in a rush. This time around, we stopped in and just got the crab and pork soup dumplings and the scallion pancake. The soup dumplings are perfect. They're filled to the max, the flavor is balanced between the proteins, and the skin is just the right thickness that it's not dense if you eat the whole thing. The scallion pancake was standard, crispy and not particularly flavorful, but a great starter.

This spot is a must if you're in Chinatown. Honestly you can't go wrong with anything you order here everything hits ! The service was nice, the food came out in a normal amount of time and this place gets packed, which tells you all you need to know. Even with the crowd, the inside was clean and comfortable. This spot is a 10/10 The flavors are on another level. I swear nothing in California compares. New York food just hits different and I miss it. If you're in this area, do yourself a favor and please stop by. Your only mistake will be not ordering more food. Trust me.. come hungry.

Veggie lo mein
Tara R.

Ordered to go online and it was ready pretty quick. Upon arrival, I had to wait a few minutes but I knew that I arrived prior to my quoted pick up time. I ordered the vegetable lo mein, king pao chicken, and pork dumplings. Everything was good but I expected to have more veggies in the veggie lo mein for the price. No broccoli. No water chestnuts. No snap peas. None of the typical veggies I am used to in veggie lo mein! The king pao chicken was tasty and came with white rice. The pork dumplings were my favorite part of the whole meal. I was able to get paper plates, forks and chopsticks to go since we were eating at the hotel room.

Xiaolongbao

Fast service, efficient host/staff, good food. Great experience overall. Shanghai stir fried rice cakes 10/10 different from restaurants that make it sauce heavy and sticky, each rice cake was wok fried and did not stick to each other, veg and meat pairing made this dish worth every carb. Scallion pancake 10/10 thin, crispy, and chewy, looked overcooked at first but the char did not affect the texture at all. Crab xiaolongbao and pork xiaolongbao 10/10 filling was excellent, can actually taste the crab from the broth, pork was also very good. Sizitou (Shanghai meatball paired with bok choy and rice) 10/10 usually there's some finely diced water chestnuts mixed into the mince to keep the meatball moist, this meatball was moist without. Very good texture and perfectly cooked.

Shanghai noodles

Classic Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. They serve Shanghainese but have a good mixture of authentic Chinese dishes along with Chinese takeout classics. The highlight here are the soup dumplings. They have thin skin and tasty broth. It can get very busy here, but service was pretty solid. This place is pretty touristy but it's a classic for a reason.

A Chinatown Must‑Visit for Dumpling Lovers…read more I was in New York on a work trip, and my colleague - a proud local - promised to take me to the best dumpling spot in Chinatown. Let me tell you, he did not exaggerate. This place absolutely delivered. The moment we walked in, the atmosphere hit me first: colorful, lively, buzzing with energy in the best way. It's hip without trying too hard, and everything felt clean and well‑kept. Service was lightning fast, too - dishes were coming out almost as quickly as we could order them. Now, the dumplings. Amazing. Truly some of the best I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and paired with a savory sauce that made every bite even better. Even the little dipping sauce was delicious. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. A couple of tips for anyone planning a visit: * They're cash‑only, so make sure you come prepared. * Reservations are encouraged - this place is clearly a go‑to spot, and for good reason. If you're in Chinatown and craving dumplings that actually live up to the hype, this restaurant is a must. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the city!

I loved the ginger ponzu mixture that came with the soup dumplings and will be dreaming about these dumplings for weeks to come! I had seen a lot of reviews praising the General Tso's chicken, but I've honestly avoided the Chinese-American dish for years. Too often it's overly sweet with a heavy batter. Still, after seeing plate after plate come out to nearby tables, I decided to give it a try. What a surprise. It was a huge portion of fresh white meat chicken with a light coating and a perfectly balanced sauce, served piping hot. We couldn't finish it (knowing we had a big dinner later), but I kept going back for "just one more piece" more times than I'd like to admit. Reservations aren't accepted for parties of two, but in the late afternoon it wasn't busy at all, we walked right in with no wait. Would absolutely come back.

We ordered both the standard pork XLB and my faves, the pork and crab ones, as well as pan fried pork dumplings which I was surprised to discover were also full of soup, chicken corn dumplings, and two noodle dishes: rice cake with pork & mustard greens, and pan fried noodles with beef. Servers were conscientious about allergies and very specific about letting us know which items were which, but other than that were largely appropriately hands off. They did ask us, mid-meal, if it would be ok if a service dog were at the next table to ours, which I thought was courteous. (The service dog was adorable and well behaved.) All the food was fab, which we expected. It's nice to come in a group and be able to order more items for a greater variety. The service was excellent, and the owner was incredibly friendly, taking the time to give us a detailed introduction to the story and origins of French Ramen. We ordered the Special Combo, and the moment it arrived, my eyes lit up. The plating was a beautiful blend of French and Japanese influences--elegant, refined, and perfectly aligned with my taste. Seeing such thoughtfully presented dishes instantly elevated the entire dining experience. It truly lives up to the name "French Ramen." The Lobster Ramen had an incredibly rich, naturally sweet, and flavorful broth. The noodles were perfectly springy with a satisfying texture (wide noodles, similar to fettuccine). The Crab Ramen with Truffle featured a deeply aromatic broth with a pronounced truffle flavor, paired with classic Japanese-style ramen noodles that were equally enjoyable. The Spicy Salmon Ramen also came with wide noodles (similar to fettuccine), which I personally loved since I prefer a chewier texture. The broth was more on the mild side compared to the other dishes, but still enjoyable. Across all dishes, the seafood was fresh, beautifully presented, and of high quality. The attention to detail in both presentation and flavor made the experience feel refined and special--it was truly a joy to dine here. We were also treated to a glass of red wine by the owner, which added an extra touch of warmth and hospitality and perfectly complemented the "French" aspect of the experience. The fried chicken wings were crispy, hot, and delicious. The fried salmon rice was also excellent--the fish was perfectly crispy, and the rice was flavorful and well-seasoned. For dessert, we were served assorted mochi ice cream along with a rich terrine de chocolat. From start to finish, the meal was both visually stunning and delicious. It was a truly delightful dining experience. My entire family gives it 5 stars! I will definitely be returning to Salmon Noodle 3.0 and highly recommend it.
