Against my wishes my elderly, covid stricken mother called this clown and was charged 25 grand flat fee "to get TO trial". "Trial is extra. Helluva deal eh folks? I'm in Elko and he said he would come out here to rescue my Jeep Rubicon and represent me--that didn't happen. I never even spoke to a lawyer on the phone, just an idiotic errand boy who I doubt could finish a complete sentence in Spanish much less English. Icing on the cake was after Joey Gilbert law got fired by the big judge, the misdemeanor judge wouldn't allow me to fire him (I said you're fired 5 times on two appearances) but he just kept coming back, making sure to say he was charging my "lawyer fund" because he knows the flat fee he originally charged is not how things are supposed to work. read more

I never gave any consent for Jaymie Mitchell to represent my family in legal mattes at any time ever. I am Julie Grove and my stepson is Jason Grove. I should have known that any boxer who gets his ass kicked in a fight years ago here years ago with his opponent and looked like a maxi pad after he was through getting beaten up that he was bad news as an attorney too. But go figure. It makes me wonder how an attorney can get five stars and one stars all at the same time. That's a red flag to begin with. Now I will give his staff and paralegals five stars, but I didn't pay them thousands of dollars for my DUI case. Joey Gilbert is THE WORST ATTORNEY in all my years I have dealt with. The first thing is, I never met him or talked to him ONCE, neither did he reach out to me when my case was pending. His polite paralegals did. Then on my COURT DATE AND TIME, he didn't show up. No call. I HAD TO CALL THE OFFICE and they said well he was late dealing with other clients 'downstairs' at the courthouse. He was supposed to be in court with me at 1:30. The JUDGE and the city attorney asked me where he was and I was so nervous. I said I don't know, he's late. And the judge was like, " SIGHHHHHHHH." Apparently this isn't the first time. And here comes after 3pm and I'm sitting there nervously and he rushes in and doesn't even apologize. He also MISTOOK ME FOR ANOTHER CLIENT and pulled out the wrong file. I didn't think I looked like a white male. Then, when I tried to ask him some questions, he was rude, short, and cut me off. He acted like it was a bother to be there. I didn't really want to deal with him any longer. He said " I can drag this out for you and try to get the DA to dismiss it." AFTER she said she wasn't going to, and in the meantime, I'd probably have to shell out more than the 3500 for nothing. I said no, and pled guilty, took the punishment and did my 100 hours and my AA classes with a counselor. read more

Wasted my time. There seems to be a very high turnover in Family Law. And they have very poor communication. Need a paperwork, have some questions? Good luck trying to get a call back or even email response from the lawyer or even Amber/Shantal herself. The turning point for me was when I was having a meeting with the new counsel & she has no idea why are we going to trial. No idea too what is really going on with my case--she sat there with me without even bothering to read about my case. No suggestion on how to tackle the issues of missed timelines. Wow. I cannot help but feel they are just burning through that retainer. Their negligence & incompetence has really harmed my case & caused me to lose a lot of money. I am trying to seek representation from a more competent lawyer at this moment. My advice: go somewhere else. read more

The worst lawyer I have ever dealt with. They acted like me life and the case was just an inconvenience to them. Roger O'Donnell was the one that was usually at court and he was late my first court date. They confused me and after. 6 months of waiting still got the same plea deal. I had an issue regarding sentencing so I sent them an email and they literally ghosted me. I wish I would have gone with a public defender. At least then I would have saved the 9,500$. read more

Good luck getting anyone to call you back in regards to the status of your case or for pre trial conversations. Especially Carlos! Also be prepared for Adriana the secretary to hang up on you when you protest. Also, be prepared to appear at your final court hearing without representation because the agreement you make for $4,500.00 to represent you for a DUI doesn't include that. During one of the worst times in my life I needed some legal help. Carlos spoke with me and assured me that they would extend every effort to help me. I paid them $7500.00 cash and after that , all was downhill ! I received no telephone calls and every time I called them for an update some service took a message and that was all I got. After almost six months of talking to different people answering their telephone I got to talk with an attorney who assured me that everything was proceeding "fine". Next time I called I was told that the attorney had quit and again they "took a message" ! This has been the biggest waste of my time and at a very difficult time for me , I found that not only did I have the legal system to worry about , I had almost zero support through my "attorney" ! When I met in person for my free consultation, I thought I had found the person to defend me. It was all niceties and, "I will work with you." This pandemic hasn't treated me kindly, which I expressed, when I talked about my worries about retainer fees. I was made to feel confident that I would have support in creating a payment plan that surrounded a 25% down payment when I could come up with the money. Once I did come up with that money, I called. The phone was answered by a kind woman who didn't know what she was doing because apparently she was just thrown in to cover the phones. After being directed to the man I'd met with who was so kind to me, I was told by him, very rudely, that less than 50% was not an acceptable amount for retainer. I was not happy, which I expressed firmly, but calmly. He immediately turned into some bootleg version of a bill collector, making me feel like I owed a debt that hadn't even been established yet. "How much can you pay? How much can you pay?" When I told him 25%, he inflated that by over $100. I told him that's not 25%, and again, he was like a loan shark. I told him what 25% amounted to, and again, it was not good enough. At this point, I was completely turned off. I would have paid more to him gladly had that been the initial interaction's agreement, but it wasn't. He kept asking WHEN I could pay now, and I told him that I WAS prepared to pay TODAY, prior to speaking to him again. But now I wasn't sure I wanted to use them anymore. Turns out, I really don't want to use them. As he told me, there are plenty of law offices in town who would love to take my case. I'm just glad I'd encountered this side of "Carlos" before paying anything. When I'd met him, I'd thought he was Joey Gilbert. I went in thinking I'd had an appointment with Joey Gilbert, even said to the receptionist, "I'm here for an appointment with Joey Gilbert." I was not corrected. When meeting "Carlos", he didn't formally introduce himself as Carlos, or anyone. He just told me if I wanted to take off my mask, I could. He wasn't wearing one. I should have taken that as my first sign I wasn't talking to someone who cares about their "community" or serving others. I was obviously feeling stressed and let his initial "kindness" coerce me into having more faith in him than I should have. Once again, glad I didn't give them my money. Worst law firm ever. Paid $9500 for a lawyer to show up in court and do nothing. Law team did not file motions against evidence. Lied about plea agreement deal to avoid trial and withdrew from counsel when asked to file an appeal. Sean Neahusen explained to my wife she would do little or no time if she signed the plea bargain. She was sentenced to 18 months. Joey Gilbert Law is a firm that makes you hate lawyers. This firm will take your money and do little or no work. A little back story, I received burns to my face due to a faulty product and called in need of a lawyer. So today, his ad pops up so I felt the need to state what is shown in the photo I have attached, and here you can see for yourself his awful, rude and extremely unprofessional answer. I was not happy with the representation that I received from this firm. Although Joey Gilbert was not my lawyer, I met him when I first went to his office and he told me that he would come to the court date, but never showed. On the day of the court appearance, my lawyer freaked me out a bit by saying multiple times that the witness for the other side was "very scary". The fact that he was intimidated did not give me faith in his abilities. There were 3 people involved in this incident and even though I was the only one who shelled out money for an attorney, the other two fared much better on their own. (You'd think hiring an attorney would lead to a better outcome.) Received a nasty, threatening call from someone at Joey Gilbert's Law firm for the final payment even though all payments were on time. I sought help after I was involved in a pretty serious rear end DUI accident. In the beginning I was told I will be "taken care of" and be compensated for my lost wages, medical bills, future medical bills, pain and suffering, etc. I was RARELY contacted or updated on anything about my case, unless I called, which is the ONLY reason I had any information. They also never informed me they had fired the paralegal I begun this case with. Literally all she did for me was refer me to a doctor. After almost 2 years of very little communication, I'm told my settlement is ready, come sign this paper and get your check. It only covered medical, and that was it. I did not get compensated for ANYTHING I was told in the beginning. I was apart of their "end of the year cleanup". I did NOT feel like I was important to them at all, and felt I had been lied to.
