Conveniently located near downtown Gratz, everything is basically within a walking distance. That's about it. Here is a list of cons that really bothered me during my stay: - My room was in between 2 floors thus forcing me to carry my (very heavy) luggage to my room. not cool when you have 50 pounds luggage in both hands and you just arrive after a 19 hours trip. - Bed is on the floor. Elevated floor but no spring box. It makes it really hard to lay down if you have a bad back/knee. You literally have to "crawl" to bed. This was extremely annoying. (The room looks like an IKEA demo bedroom. Nice looking but you can tell it's a bit cheap and very fake.) Nice breakfast but the space b/w the buffet and the chairs/tables is so small that 2 people can't 'cross' without bumping into seated customers (r bumping into each other). Many frustrated customers. A mess. - The room has stickers that actually threaten customers in case of bad behavior (Thieves are pigs... smoking in the room and you'll be joined by very angry firemen...etc) This is childish, offensive for well behaving customers. it's like judging people on their intents. I feel it's very disrespectful. They can just say "no smoking" or "the hairdryer is yours for $100"... I went for burger medium rare with french fries - how a kitchen does french fries says basically everything about it. The beef was cooked excellent and the french fries were very, very good - home made, perfectly soft inside and crispy. The only pain point was the noise level - the music was to loud to have any easy conversation. I made requests with the waiters to lower the volume which were declined with the argument that the manager wants it this way! We left at 10pm as almost everybody else - management doesn't get it! Conclusion: very good except the noise level, which might lower on other days and times.

This restaurant is located on top of the hill. You will more than likely need to take the funicular, the lift, or walk up the stairs, and then any of these to get back down. We chose to go up on the funicular and then come down on the lift. None of these are associated with the restaurant. Surprisingly, the restaurant is not touristy, but rather a place to hang out, and is frequented by the locals as well. The prices are fair and the menu is limited but ample. The atmosphere is simple, inviting, and "chill". They have indoor and outdoor seating. Dogs are welcome.

(Yes, they do have a 4-seat bar, and you can have your meal there) Atmosphere was very cozy, great music playlist and not too loud. Decor is suited to the "American" theme, with old adverts on ancient brick walls. They were full, and the wait staff was very busy. Service was great, but not always available. Started with a couple glasses of wine. By the glass list is short, but the Gelber Muskateller was a very good one. Unfortunately they were out of their American Cabernet. For beer and whisky lovers, there's an extensive collection of craft beers and whisk(e)ys from around the world. Shared their avocado BLT salad and it was delicious and fresh. Bacon could have been crisper and there was a bit too much of it, but flavors, including the ranch dressing, were great. Had to ask for knives though. Another glass of wine each, and we each had the signature bacon cheeseburger, mine requested without bun and medium rare. They nailed it!! A real treat, as most Austrian restaurants over cook burgers. The side of truffle parmesan fries was very tasty and properly cooked, though the fries were mostly short and not conducive to dipping. All food was warm, fresh, properly cooked, and delicious! Finished with a couple of fine single malt scotches. Prices were reasonable (4 wine, 1 salad, 2 entree, 1 side, 3 scotch), and we got out of here for €79 before tip. (Tips are minimal in Austria... €85 total) We'll have to try their dry aged steaks next time!
