Their beers brewed on site were all very good and provided a nice relief to all the lagers everywhere. Prices were what I considered very affordable, like 4 euro a beer and about 10 euro a plate on average I believe. I had the Schnitzel Cordon Bleu" and as I said, it was out of this world. The decor is very impressive as well. Sort of a rustic modern vibe to the place. You can see into the brewing room which is always fun, and the layout is very open, with a second story walkway around the rim of the room where the offices were located I assume. Perhaps what I enjoyed most about Saarfurst Brauhaus was how kind and helpful everyone was with me and my horrible, horrible German. They were patient when I tried to actually speak German and happy to speak English when I gave up. Also, the bartender taught me the tipping customs in the area so I didn't continue to look like such an ignorant American. Two thumbs up!!

Tanking at the Esso next door, my wife gave me the telling look of a "hangry" woman, and in a fortunate turn of events, we came into Jay and Jay. I feasted on the pulled pork burger with sweet potato fries, she had the Gemüseacker. The burger was excellent, with the right amount of pork. The fries were exactly how sweet potato fries ought to be. In a surprising twist, the Gemüseacker was essentially a hot salad. A little off-putting at first, this was the plate that won them 5-stars. The veggies were flawlessly cooked and deliciously seasoned in a way that I've never experienced.

The schnitzel, while served as two pieces versus one giant piece, was decently (but not perfectly) executed. Crispy, somewhat tender meat (could have been more tender) and a very flavorful sauce with fresh mushrooms. The spätzle was soft and buttery. Almost melted in my mouth. Can't go wrong with a nice Pilsner to wash it all down.

I was a little confused at first but soon realized that you actually go inside to place your order and then they bring the food out to you. I ordered a glass of white wine and the shrimp salad. The wine was delicious and perfectly complimented the salad. The salad was good. It was a little small so I wish I had ordered something else because it didn't satisfy my hunger but it was super tasty! I loved the gorgeous views provided on the patio. Everything was just so nice. The staff were great. I will definitely come back next time I'm in Trier!
