The library is on one side and the town hall on the other side and the are connected by a pleasant lobby. Makes things easy and convenient for the people that live in the town,. The library part is about 10,000 square feet and holds about 83,000 volumes. Certainly not a huge library but a lot larger than many of the itty bitty ones that many of the towns have. The building is new so the library doesn't have the charm and history of the cool ancient libraries but it is an extremely pleasant place to check out some books or do some research. The library is very well organized and has lots of comfy places to sit. A great place to get something done or just to hang out and relax. One very nice feature is that the AC is very strong, something that is very appreciated during the present oppressive heat spell. The library was crowded and I suspect a lot of folks came here just to cool off. For a small town library Coventry has a lot of events and programs going on. All kind of notices for storytellers, musical performers, CPR training, and event a artisan fair to be held at the library in the fall. A very cool library, both literally and figuratively. A place to find a book, see what's happening around town or just relax and cool off.

For the most part, I utilize the Ocean State Libraries online database to request delivery of books to this location. In the beginning, I utilized their curbside/contactless pickup which was ever so easy and convenient. I could grab and go and do the same when it was time to drop what I borrowed back off. Since then, I have interacted with the front desk staff for pickups (masks required). Everyone that works there has been incredibly nice. Even when I walk in 10 minutes before closing to grab a book that has arrived for me. I'm always in and out in just a couple minutes. Their website is easy to use and advertises all the in-person and online offerings they have running.

It's a simple but attractive library on the outside and clean and well organized on the inside. It's immediately obvious that this is a new and well designed library. Lots of computers for public use, a large community room, a wonderful kids area with lots of cool toys and stuffed animals and several interesting displays. Perhaps the most interesting things about the library was the Pomham Rocks Lighthouse display. Several lovely models of the old lighthouse and information by the Friends of Pomham Rocks Lighthouse Association. A very nice and modern branch library that has friendly and pleasant librarians, useful conveniences and amenities and a wonderful display of lighthouses.

There's a great system in place to just coast over to the wall of reserved goodies on your own and find your things by your name. You can even go over to a simple self-serve check-out and zip right out. Though why would I do that?, because as Cherie M. rightfully gushes, the librarians are just that nice to talk to. This is why I'm just not interested in Kindle (ok, with the exception of when I'm traveling...the only time I wish I wasn't lugging books) - this is one routine I really enjoy in my life and, hello!, it's FREE. The hours are great for a small branch - open til 8 on weeknights and til 5 on Fri and Sat. Parking's no problem; even if the lot is full there's plenty of street parking.

A little library with…read morea lot The very first Knightsville library was established back in 1927 and was just a small spot in a local store. The is was typical for the time and libraries were just sort of stuck in any place that had some room. The very first permanent library in Knightsville was built in 1959, a little brick building that is unassuming but very functional and has a lot more inside than you would think possible for it's size. A great example of how space can be utilized, this little library just oozes over with so many things to explore and examine. Nothing aesthetically that really stands out, the library has the good things that just can't be verbalized or expressed. It becomes very obvious that everything about this library is special every though nothing really stand out. This building was constructed by contributions in the name of Gerard Ruggieri. A great honor to have people love you enough to name a library after you. This library is a special little place that is so, so quiet and subtle. Nothing special about it at all. But I suspect the people that use this library know and appreciate just how wonderful a small, and very unassuming place can be. This review is dedicated to Alexandra S. Nestled in the backend of Seekonk this library literally has everything my nerdy self needs…read more I like that it's all one level and that it has scenic walking paths adjacent to the main building. It also has a decent sized parking lot which I appreciate even more now because my other local libraries in my state have little to no parking. They completed renovations in the past few years which make everything even more accessible. it's one of the few local libraries that has an innovation center. they have equipment that allows you to convert VHS tapes and they also have a 3D printer that is cost affordable to use. My only complaint is that I'm charged a dual state membership fee to still be a member. though the annual fee is burdensome it's worth it in the end.

What a sweet little library! I found myself in Downtown Warren a few days ago with some time to…read morekill, so I decided to Google Maps where the local library was. Turns out that it was a convenient two blocks away from the Coffee Depot where I was hangin', so I decided to take a stroll and check it out. The George Hail Free Library may be small-ish, but the building itself was gorgeous (according to the librarian, it's about 132 years old!), and it was fun to walk around in the Beauty and the Beast-esque space and channel my inner Belle for a bit! There are amazing stained glass windows and meticulously preserved vaulted ceilings. It's almost reminiscent of an old church from the turn of the century. Pretty cool! The library is undergoing some repairs and renovations to the upper floor and the roof, so the shelves on the first floor are jammed with fiction and nonfiction books. It was a little bit cramped to walk around, but I managed. I unfortunately didn't have enough time to sit and read, but the worn leather chairs near the periodicals section looked inviting, and I will definitely take a seat there next time! The George Hail Free Library is part of the Ocean State Libraries system, so you can take out any of their books or media and return it at a different library in the system as well. Very convenient and much appreciated! A hidden historic gem in Warren that's definitely worth a visit!

A stunning memorial…read more Back in the early 1880's Martha Hail decided she wanted a lasting memorial to her husband, George Hail, so she decided to donate money to have a library built in his honor that would have his name on it. Like most of the grand libraries built during this time period it was more than a place for books. It was a stunning building made of blocks of granite and constructed in the Romanesque Revival style that seemed popular at the time. The library was complete in 1888 for a total cost of around 16,000 dollars. Seems like a ridiculously low sum now but back then it was a whole heap of money. Several other wealthy people also donated money for the completion of the building. The library is indeed stunning, both inside and out. This period of grand library building sort of reminds me of what the Egyptian Pharaohs were doing in the 4th dynasty, building massive memorials that would last forever. It not exactly forever, then for a long, long time. The library is wonderful to look at from the outside and the inside is just as amazing. Beautiful stain glass windows, lovely staircases, beautiful furniture and art and even a cool owl watching over things. The library was renovated in the late 1970's and much of it was restored to it's original appearance. It is truly a beautiful library to admire from both the inside and out. It might not last as long as the pyramids but it will definitely be around for a long, long time.

Very special…read morelibrarians The Norwood Library is kind of a squat, small and bricky looking building. Not unattractive but certainly not one of the more stunning New England libraries. It looks like a bunker or air raid shelter on the outside, something that would survive just about anything. We got there just as it was closing, in fact it was closed and the librarians were leaving for the day. Itty, bitty libraries like this aren't open very often and you have to get the hours right. In fact the hours often change and are very irregular and not necessarily logical. However the very kind librarians let us in even though it kept them from leaving and didn't hurry us one bit. They were very friendly and pleasant even though it was obvious that we were keeping them from going home. They both patiently answered our stupid questions and even turned on the lights on and let us go downstairs. This library was built back in 1907 and is pretty cool if you take the time to look carefully. It is a very stout and strong looking building tucked in a small space but it does have some cool windows and an impressive slate roof. Obviously not one of the more impressive and grandiose libraries in New England but still a pretty cool place. We didn't have a lot of time to poke around the library but it was well organized and had all the usually library stuff. The kids section downstairs was especially cool. Just a little library in a small part of town. Nothing specially except for the accommodating librarians that sacrificed their time so we could poke around There are plenty of books and plenty of places to keep books, but librarians like this are what makes certain libraries very special.

The very first Auburn library was built in 1888 and bounced around a bit until it ended up in it's present location. The library is a very pleasant and cozy place for a branch library and although it isn't particular large it has a nice selection of a variety of books, magazines, computers and reference sources. The library is especially known for it's large selection of music. I noticed a very nice variety of bluegrass music and jazz. Although the inside of the library is nice the outside of the building is really special. A very cool garden with colorful and bright flowers in full bloom. A library that manages to separate itself and develop a unique and pleasant personality.
