Laurie Brandt ended up being my first pick for my first born son's newborn photographer. I LOVE…read morenewborn photography but Laurie's work was hands down the best. She had so many ideas I loved I did my best not to torture her in regards to themes, ideas, & props. She also had done newborn photography with several acquaintances of mine. The long winding country road I drove that November that leads to her studio should be on the cover of a New England Postcard. The falling leaves and trees I passed set the scene or privacy, nature & serenity! She has a gorgeous home photography studio- set on a picturesque property with 360 degree lake views. Just being there brought a sense of calm over you! Laurie asked me what I wanted and introduced me to her daughter Tiffany who would be assisting her during the Newborn Photography shoot. Laurie immediately got to work & I could tell she was a naturally creative spirit. She has an amazing energy and aura about her that transcends into her work! She took my ideas and transformed them into beautiful art. I wanted to incorporate a "Prince Theme" since that was my sons baby shower as well as a "Peter Rabbit Theme" since that was my sons Nursery as well as those quintessential newborn pictures & a few Christmas pictures since it was next month I could use a few of these for Christmas Cards as well as whatever she suggested which was a "Mother & Me" Picture & some other things I Loved. I loved and wished I could have kept them all (including the proofs)! Most important about Laurie in addition to her spirit was how great and accommodating she was to me and my son. I had no qualms about her holding, posing, or adjusting him. She also gave me plenty of time for feeding/changing throughout the session. You could tell she was a Mom with an amazing maternal side that translates into her photography. My son slept through the ENTIRE photo shoot except for when he peed on Laurie- which she handled- LIKE A CHAMP. She quickly let me know and we got him cleaned up and she just kept rolling! That in and of itself- was amazing! Naturally- I felt bad and apologized and she was like "Don't worry about it" she Shook it Off enduring "it happens all the time"! She also has an amazing room dedicated to Newborns/Kids & Their Mom's/Caretakers in which she has a changing table with all supplies, wipes/toys/etc. Newborn Props & Newborn Outfits as well as an area to breastfeed -which I personally thought was amazing!! She made me feel immediately comfortable and I'm a pretty shy individual! Her young daughter Tiffany was also naturally gifted with photography and newborn posing and appeared to be just as creative as her experienced mother! They made a great team and made me feel great about being a First Time Mom and observed I was very natural tending to my son and stopping to breastfeed in between our 3 hour session. The studio grounds are absolutely beautiful & her backdrops are amazing. I know she also does "themes" and offers full scale sets for some of these I believe such as Fairy Sets (unless that's just an example of her beautiful editing). I've seen her do newborn photography with: Disney Movies, Where the Wild Things Are, Rainbow Baby Tributes, Police Officer Tributes, and really anything you want. WHAT TO KNOW: Laurie is extremely talented and creative and is amazing with both newborns AND parents. She comes highly recommended by many friends and individuals in RI! She is very easy to work with, down to earth and extremely approachable and works with what YOU want! CONTACT HER ASAP to schedule an appointment- because you don't want her to be booked when going into labor and she usually doesn't like to take newborns over 14 days old. The first time you meet her you can tell that she gets inspired by each and every shoot- which is refreshing to work with and see! She is also an amazing and FAST editor- as well! She is my absolute favorite newborn photographer in the State of Rhode Island & I would recommend her to any Mom - especially nervous first time Mom's like I was because she put me at ease instantly and she made the whole process a breeze! Anyone looking to do something Creative or One of a Kind with your child or newborn you have to schedule with Laurie and first time Mom's have to do the Mommy & Me Picture!! I'll love and cherish all these pictures forever! A fun and memorable experience (as it should be) opposed to the horror shows I've gone through at Target & JC Penny.

And the results are another amazing story. I heard about her through the grapevine and did maternity photos with her. Let me tell you, the last thing an expectant mom who resembles the Goodyear blimp would like to do is pose for photos. I already felt beautiful and glowing, just didn't want to capture the physical gains on camera; however, Laurie made me feel comfortable and brought out gorgeous gowns, utilized some of the beautiful nature on her property, & and took some pretty damn good photos too! Next visit was the newborn session and she handled my 10 day old peanut with such care, she never woke, not until the end! Laurie kept the studio warm and gave ample time for feedings and changes. Most recently, we did the 6 month shoot - once again, Laurie had that magic that resulted int daughters personality shining through. Positive energy reinforces positive results! Looking forward to the 1 year and holiday photos!

Our wedding was scheduled for 2020, Covid happened and we post pond the wedding. They seemed accommodating and had our new date available. We meet with them for our engagement pictures and it went downhill from that point. Our pictures were horrible; they were unorganized and arguing with each other making it very uncomfortable. We decided it was too close to the wedding and to keep them as we had already paid them the full amount and we would lose our money. I meet with Bev to discuss my plans for the wedding. She argued and disagreed with every idea I had. I did not want a first look with my husband even though it is a "time saver" I wanted that moment down the aisle to be special. She disagreed with me trying to convince me for 15 minutes to change my mind. I politely refused. I then told her it was important I do a first look with my father. She did not like that idea at all. She said it was ridiculous to do a first look with my father and not my soon to be husband. She also did not like the idea I was not doing any wedding traditions like cake cutting flower or garter toss. She said "what are we supposed to take pictures of just dancing for hours" I said yes! I want candid pictures of our guests having fun, talking to each other dancing laughing and having fun. When the wedding day arrived I wanted to be in the moment and enjoy it, Take it all in. Everything was going great until Thom showed up. He came in like a whirlwind so much negative energy! The entire wedding staff (Hairdressers and makeup artists, bridal party immediately tensed up and expressed how uncomfortable they were making them feel). Bev didn't even show up the day of my wedding. I had hired two photographers. I was told she was "sick". Later I found out she took another gig (in our initial meeting they said they do not double book). Thom tossed my dress on the makeup artist table. Thank Goodness my bridesmaid and mother saw and rescued my dress immediately and told him to be careful with it. I had to tell Thom to send the other photographer to take pictures of my husband getting ready. They were sitting on the couch talking. We only received a handful of decent pictures! They took horrible side angle pictures. I told them I did not like the side view for pictures and they still took 75% of the pictures that way. I had to keep telling them what to do and who to take pictures of! I was directing family and friends and organizing who was on deck for pictures! They stood around clueless! During our reception I really wanted sunset pictures. They pulled us outside to capture the moment, but Thom had dropped the camera in the parking lot and could not get it to work. While his helper just stood and smoked. After 10 minutes of missing our time to eat I suggested to use the second shooters camera so we could get back inside. We also wanted to take back light pictures with our venue in the background. They set it up so the parking lot was in the background of all our backlight pictures. They then asked if they could leave our reception early as people were only dancing and nothing else was going on. At this point I was aggravated and said fine. We did not get our proofs back until December. Our wedding was in the beginning of September! I had to constantly call to ask what is going on with our albums or prints. Thom was extremely rude! I had tried to contact Bev who was the person I originally had the most contact with. She told me she and Thom were getting divorced and she no longer had anything to do with the company. Thom yelled at me several times stating that we were drunk during our ceremony. That was a complete lie as we didn't drink until the reception. He was the one drunk! He was stumbling dropped his camera several times and was very rude to myself, my husband and our guests. We did not get our albums that we had paid for until the end October 2022! Our wedding was September 2021. I was promised to receive my pictures in a timely manner. When I told him how disappointed I was he began to yell at me saying he's doing it by himself and it has not been a year since our wedding and I was being ridiculous! I think I know when our wedding date was! This was a few of the issues we dealt with, They did a lot more rude and unprofessional things! DO NOT HIRE THEM! RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL

He somehow managed to be everywhere he needed to be all at once; every time I looked he was capturing photos of our friends and families. Paul's passion for his work shows through by the suburb quality of his finished product. It is rare to see such enthusiasm. Paul encapsulated our day like we believe no one else would have. He showed exquisite professionalism and was able to work seamlessly with all our vendors and take command when need be. While it wasn't his concern, he guided a very green videographer to ensure that the videographer stayed true to our requests. Even while taking control, he never missed a step or a shot. His ideas and instructions for shots were brilliant and concise, capturing moments both scripted and live with seeming ease and efficiency. During formals he was able to push out a ton in a short time with seeming to lose his cool, despite multiple last-minute requests. My husband is not one for photographs and yet did not get impatient once! During the ceremony and reception, we rarely noticed Paul as he whizzed around capturing some incredible shots. We never had to call him over to get a shot, he seemed to be already right where we needed him. Even when I started crying...he was the only one with a tissue handy! Paul was with me through my bridal prep and was very comfortable to be around. He was both non-intrusive on our moments and intuitive as to when I needed a little help staying on schedule. He gently organized me while being respectful of my attention. He reminded me of a few important things that in the scatter of the day I would have forgotten and been disappointed. Additionally, through the planning process he responded quickly and was the only vendor that I felt I never had to worry about hearing back from. This was critical to our wedding because we planned it from across the country. I only had about 2 meetings face-to-face and each time he accommodated my schedule and unique circumstance. Each meeting we knocked out everything I needed to know and more. Each time I met with him I felt calmer about the whole process and I feel like he was a critical part of my ability to keep my cool. I hope that you are lucky enough to find him. We set a very high bar for our photos and he vaulted over it. On top of everything, he is a reasonable and fair man, helping us to stay within our budget by giving us flexibility in his photography packages. Although it was one of the initial reasons that I met with him; looking back now I wouldn't think twice about paying double (even if I had to skip out of something else to do it!). He got all our photos to us quickly (despite the distance) and he hasn't abandoned us after the wedding either. All there is left to say is...why haven't you hired him yet?

I have heard of people having bad experiences with photographers who are either too intense/demanding or too passive when it comes to taking the group shots but I must say Matt was perfectly efficient and politely directive. The videographers were present enough to capture the day fully yet we never felt that there were cameras in our faces. Our video came out so beautiful & looks so professional. A friend even commented that it should be the music video for "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran because of how well done it was. The one hold up we had was picking one of the licensed songs that they had to offer - this isn't a Blueflash concern since I'm glad they are paying for licensed song but the main website they use just didn't have some of the songs we had originally thought of. When I brought this to their attention, they immediately provided a second option for buying our own songs & ultimately newer songs were uploaded to the original website so it all worked out! Britt, who was our main point of contact, was extremely responsive and helpful throughout the entire process. I highly recommend using Blueflash to any future brides & grooms out there!!
