Never had surgery done here so cannot give an opinion on that, however John seems keen to push drugs/tests/jabs/food/anything else he possibly can every single time I visit. With me he has also taken a ridiculously long time to 'mull things over', sort out issues with the computer, ask me the same questions 4 times and think of other things he can push (we are often in the consultation room for around 20 minutes even after the cat had been examined/diagnosed), despite my cat being ridiculously agitated and despite the fact he knows that I am a student and do not have much money.
Last time we went my cat stayed in overnight to have a blood test for diabetes, which they would not do while he was awake as he gets too agitated & angry so I had to pay £60 more for a sedative. The vet then printed off a label and got a bottle ready for pills which, in his words, would only exacerbate the condition if my cat DID have diabetes. He was almost out of the room to collect the pills and only stopped when I asked him why I was being given them before the test had been done and the results collected if that was indeed the case. He basically froze and made some excuse about 'getting them ready just in case' - I got charged for the pills that day anyway. Luckily, there was no diabetes and I didn't have to make a fuss about it.
He also frequently refers to my huge tomcat as 'Miss', which I find a little concerning! Unfortunately I don't have access to a car, and the cat gets really anxious in his box, and as the surgery is just down the road I feel it is the only option at the moment. I guess vets have to cover their own backs with this stuff in order to stay in business, it just makes me a little sad that every time I go I feel I am being swindled out of money unnecessarily. read more
